65 Days of Static

Ok time to bring the post-punk thread back to the first page.

Not sure if there’s already a thread for Sheffield’s (UK) 65 Days of Static but I thought I’d start, it’s only right.

What is everyone’s opinion of these guys?

I write for a music website which has just put up a feature on the band that I genuinely feel you’ll be interested in. In it they talk about the bootlegging and remixing The Cure.

Have a read, let me know what you think:

This isn’t spam promise, just spreading the good word.

Enjoy fine post-rock people.

Dean.

I have One Time For All Time.
It's pretty good, I need to listen to it more.
Drove Through Ghosts To Get Here and 65 Doesn't Understand You are the particularly good tracks that come to mind.

Can't be fucked with your link/review for the moment though.

EDIT: Damn, jrowa001, sorry man I just remembered I was going to upload that Toe EP.
Gimme a sec.

EDIT2: OK Mediafire is being a huge cunt. What else is there? I can't use google for reasons relating to virii/viruses(?).

dean81 08-12-2008 04:23 AM

well be sure to at some point. if you're a fan i reckon you'd enjoy it. what other stuff you listening to at the moment?

penelope weird hands 08-12-2008 04:43 AM

Yeah, will do. Now is not a good time.

Kaki King, Maps and Atlases and T3h Shr3d Boiz the latter of which is done by Treebeard from this site.
He hasn't posted in ages though.. :|

Saw these guys about 2 years ago and was not very impressed. The sound in the venue wasn't that good though, and it was just 3 guys hammering their guitars for 30 minutes. Not heard the recorded stuff, but seeing them live (supporting Hundred reasons I think, lawl), put me off them.

Chippy956 08-12-2008 09:44 AM

mediafire is way bettar, doesn't make you wait

Shattered_Future 08-13-2008 02:48 PM

I forgot just how good Red Sparowes are. They make great reading music.

TheSceneNinja 08-13-2008 03:06 PM

I love Explosions in the Sky and To Be A High Powered Executive.

Sooooooooooooooo good.

Txus 08-13-2008 03:08 PM

both bands suck.

Listen to LITE

carbombsandconversations 08-13-2008 04:13 PM

explosions in the sky is sweet

RiceMonster 08-13-2008 04:45 PM

Explosions is a good Post-Rock introduction. I still like them.

Tyr 08-13-2008 04:50 PM

^^Yeah, they are.

I'm really digging Yndi Halda lately.

Correction 08-13-2008 05:28 PM

meh, i never really dug explosions much

yndi halda's pretty excellent though

Txus 08-13-2008 05:30 PM

EITS is boring.

Yndia Halda FTW

McP3000 08-13-2008 05:54 PM

Idk, i was first introduced into post-rock with ( ) by Sigur Ros. Loved it on first listen, i don't understand why anyone else wouldn't

And yeah, i got that Yndi Halda album (or EP if you wanna be picky) a few weeks ago. Still haven't spun it. Sounds like I should.

cometuesday 08-13-2008 10:27 PM

my first post rock record was port-royal's flares. i didn't even know what kind of genre it was at the time.

i recently found out about set fire to flames and i haven't picked the album up yet but it sounds pretty sweet from what i've read/heard.

LifeInABox 08-13-2008 11:04 PM

this

botb 08-15-2008 01:44 AM

The Album Leaf, tbh.

Shattered_Future 08-15-2008 02:22 PM

I kinda want to try this thing that this online comic I read said. I should start a a cappella EITS cover band. 20 dudes in black turtlenecks.

McP3000 08-15-2008 03:38 PM

beatniks you mean

Delay Pedal Boy 08-18-2008 07:34 PM

Recommendations for newer Post-Rock?
