has anyone heard the original intro for blackened? i downloaded off a website and it's very cool, i hear the other intro is just the original backwards, i wonder why they did that
|
sigh, ive seen metallica once. During the second or third leg of the long *** black tour(92 i think). It was the same stage setup as binge and purge. I got right up to the ****ing front thanks to a friend of mines cousin who was like 8 foot 500 pounds. they opened with sandman, then creeping death (as par for the course) They played the 'justice medley', and blackened, and one, master, battery, sanitarium, fade to black, seek and destroy, god im having trouble remembering, a bunch of stuff from the black album, the bass solo was based on my friend of misery, i think they did the damage/am I evil medley (like cliff em all) god i know they played tons more plus 2 f*cking encores. kick *** show, and they all still had long hair except for jason, who had just cut his off. I'll probably never see them again, so it was cool i got to before its too late. the only songs i wanted to see they didnt play. (orion, i kinda figured, and dyers eve)
if your looking for the DT bootleg you can order form DT's site. its the whole MoP recorded live. |
Yeah, since you're such a regular in this thread.
Ride the lightning is their best, true that.
Meh, I have a pretty extensive knowledge of their music (considering I don't own any albums that is). And I hope to get some soon. But it's like I'm torn between my two loves: Maiden and Metallica. |
http://metallica.mirrors.nuqe.net/M...ed%20intro-.mp3
That site pwns for bootlegged downloads |
I just watched the skom promo vid. Lars Ulrich's best ever quote: "I just feel so...disresected."
And the shot of Kirk slapping his forhead when they're arguing is priceless :D |
i like the one on the Cd better
its not like its a 'demo' version of the original, thats just what they played for the intro, someone just took the beginning of blackened and put it in their wave editor and reversed the wave file. it is cool to hear though :thumb: |

Yeah, you figured out the concept of reversing.
|
I did that years ago on ACID or something (reversed blackened so that it would play normally)
PS: Photo- get your as.s over to the titans thread and we will load you up with great thrash :) |
I prefer the real one.

I'm very new so I didn't read all posts. Maybe it was already answered, but what do you think about "Orion"?
|
It's pretty good. :p
|
Never heard it.
|
Has anyone been on LiveMetallica.com recently? they have started playing a song I have never seen before called 'Melbourne'. Does anyone know anything about this mysterious song?
|
I saw that too....what is it....I may buy one of the concerts just to hear it.
Metallica was the best thrash I ever heard. Everything else, was pretty much a copy of metallica.
OH MY F*CKING GOD! The best thrash ever? Everyone is a copy of Metallica? You dumb f*cker. Let me begin to tear into your flesh. 1)Last time I checked, Kirk Hammett couldn't play even half as fast as Kerry King, Marty Friedman, Dan Spitz, Jeff Hanneman, or anyone from Dark Angel, Testament, or Exodus. 2)Metallica are good thrash, not GREAT thrash. Anyone who knows the Thrash genre well know that our genre was defined by those with a great loyalty to the thrash underground. These bands still love their original fanbase, and haven't stabbed the thrashers in the back. These bands include Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer, Exodus, Testament, Dark Angel, Kreator, and almost every other Thrash band except for Metallica. 3)Metallica isn't a thrash band anymore. They've turned Mallcore, and I hate them for it. They still sound good live, but only when the older stuff is played. If I met James or Lars in person, I would jusk ask them why they did it. Because of fanboys such as yourself, great albums went unnoticed because of the wait for St. Anger, which was the biggest dissapointment in metal history since Halford left Judas Priest. The albums unnoticed: The World Needs a Hero, We've Come For You All, God Hates Us All, and many more. Need I explain more? Oh, for the TRUE thrashers, feel free to put in anything that I missed. |
Allow me to point out your flaws
1)Last time I checked, Kirk Hammett couldn't play even half as fast as Kerry King, Marty Friedman, Dan Spitz, Jeff Hanneman, or anyone from Dark Angel, Testament, or Exodus.
Last time I checked, making good music had nothing to do with making good music, thrash or not.
2)Metallica are good thrash, not GREAT thrash.
Come on, man, you have to be joking, how are you gonna define what is good and what is bad? Appreciating music is very subjective. And the fact that they're not making thrash anymore doesn't mean metallica is bad nor does it mean that their old stuff isn't thrash anymore. Hating a band for evolving, whether this means the good or the right way and that is just everyone's opinion, is just stupid. |

To all fanboys: I would like SUPERPEER to explain this to me, because I trust him. |
i agree with you there sacrifice, that metallica aren't thrash anymore(and the other things listed). I wouldn't say they turned mallcore, they just tried different things and it kinda turned out bad.
|
Uh, I think it's pretty obvious, the Black album was a great heavy metal album, not thrash, heavy metal or modern rock, if you prefer that.
St. Anger is on the edge of nu metal, they adapted another tuning, they ditched the solos, So I'd say they've evolved. Like I said, evolving isn't always a good thing. In some cases it can lead to awful mutations, like St. anger. (I'm being a bit harsh on the album, it's not that bad, but I'm just making a point here) |
i do like the black album, just not such a big fan of the load era. I guess when you think about it its not what everyone else wants metallica to play, but more what metallica themselves want to play.
