Heavily digging Explosions In The Sky again thanks to the lovely pixiesfanyo.

giventofly 01-20-2005 10:03 PM

kirkrock85 01-21-2005 05:39 AM

I've been really hooked on Minus the Bear recently... just really good songs.

Tapeworm 01-21-2005 07:07 AM

Minus the Bear kick it. I was trying to explain the hilarity of their song/album titles to someone today and they didn't get it.

Rrazors3k 01-21-2005 09:31 AM

Happymeal 01-21-2005 06:48 PM

Prefuse 73
Spiritualized

thanks to Scott:)

YDload 01-21-2005 06:56 PM

Creed- Ode. It sounds like Alice In Chains, and if it were on their second or third album, they would probably have to water it down some more. You can actually hear the bassist, wuts ^ wif dat?

Ice Cube- It Was a Good Day. thanks GTA: San Andreas!

Minutemen- Don't Look Now. It's a cover of a John Fogerty song, but it's awesome.

el doctor 01-21-2005 07:42 PM

Belle & Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister
Patton and Kaada - Romances
Frank Zappa - Zappa in New York

All albums I've felt like going back to listening to, along with all things Spoon.

Tangy zizzle 01-21-2005 07:54 PM

Bands I watched yesterday that YOU didn't.

The Fanatics
Deja Voodoo
Pluto
Kid 606
Le Tigre
Kid Koala
The Mint Chicks
Money Mark
Polyphonic Spree
Carl Cox
Dimmer
Hatebreed (through neccesity, not choice)
The motherfuckin' Blues Explosion.

You lose.

Little Man being Erased 01-21-2005 10:45 PM

I finally picked up Hot Snakes - Automatic Midnight and The Shins - Oh, Inverted World last week. Both bloody brilliant. And, I'm going to see The D4 tonight. I can't wait.

Little Man being Erased 01-21-2005 10:46 PM

Oh yeah, and I shall have the two new Bright Eyes albums in my hands in about half an hour.

Fantastic album. It's too bad that band didn't do more work.

Tangy zizzle 01-21-2005 10:52 PM

Yeah Hot Snakes!

D4 = A good show.

Little Man being Erased 01-21-2005 10:58 PM

Yes it does. I saw them at livid a couple years back and they were climbing up the scafolding and jumping off stacks, it was awesome.

br3ad_man 01-21-2005 10:59 PM

I'm loving Explosions In The Sky thanks to Happymeal and that video that pixiesfanyo posted a while ago. I wish I hadn't taken so long to get around to them.

That's what I thought too after seeing that video. But they really didn't impress me THAT much. I just have to know WHAT SONG WERE THEY PLAYING?! In the record store? Please?

br3ad_man 01-21-2005 11:40 PM

mmm. I didn't actually watch the video, I just listened to the audio.

pixiesfanyo 01-22-2005 05:20 AM

I only have A Cold Dead Place.

So I don't know.

indy_undy 01-22-2005 05:25 AM

hello all, wat is the best blues explosion album?

Happymeal 01-22-2005 08:17 AM

Orange, I think.

wheelz 01-22-2005 10:06 AM
Prefuse 73
my favorite artist ever!

i'm glad to see someone else into prefuse besides me or scott... the new album is coming out soon, the EP with the books is coming out soon, and the stuff he just released under his new "piano overlord" alias is great too.

it's a good time to be a prefuse 73 fan.

Interpol_666 01-22-2005 10:28 AM

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting here. Lately I have been listening to these bands:

-The Secret Machines
-The Mars Volta
-The Shins
-I just bought some older At the Drive In stuff
-Of Montreal
-Me and a good friend finally started listening to Zappa. My one friend has a tape with a bunch of pretty cool claymation made by Zappa.

Tapeworm 01-22-2005 11:45 AM
hello all, wat is the best blues explosion album?
Plastic Fang

But according to Allmusic, Now I Got No Worry is.

Bartender 01-22-2005 11:52 AM

I've been spending most of the day listening more attentively than usual to Mastodon - Leviathan and Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come. Both very good albums, though I think I prefer the latter a little.

Right now I'm just relaxing with something I already know; Maggot Brain.

Zappa 01-22-2005 12:04 PM

I put on Guided By Voices' Bee Thousand for the second time (the first was about a month ago), because I read in the Austin City Limits thread that they're on tonight. I thought I'd give them another chance, since I liked things about the album the first time I heard it, but they didn't totally sell me. Today I'm digging it a lot more.

pinkyeti 01-22-2005 12:48 PM

The problem with guided by voices is that there are always a few songs on any album you do not like. The reason for this is the sheer quantity of songs I guess. A good Guided by voices album is determined by the good songs : bad songs ratio. But there are always both kinds on any album.

asymm 01-22-2005 01:43 PM

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds - Abattoir Blues / The Lyre of Orpheus
Upon my first listen I didn't dig it nearly as much as I anticipated. But subsequent listens have led me to really enjoy this whole album. Delightful.
