I don't listen to that much punk, but I have like... 80's Hardcore, Hardcore, Street Punk, Punk, Pop-Punk, and then a bunch of stuff branching from hardcore.

 Mike.
Yeah, Hardcore has lots of subs...but I just call it all Hardcore /lazy

lawlcore

Kif 08-27-2006 03:22 PM

I want to invent Skardcore (Ska hardcore for the illminded). I wanted to try and make a ska metal band in school, but I think people thought I was a loon and made their own cliche pop-punk bands.

Stealing South Park DVDs is taking a very long time. So long infact that I've been downloading since 3AM and it's still going.

Tjebby 08-27-2006 03:22 PM

People are so dumb sometimes though, seriously. All those "genres" piss me off. Stick to the main ones. Its like, if i were to call someone middle eastern and they were like, i'm lebanonese. Its still the same thing.

Mute Print 08-27-2006 03:23 PM

Haha, I have Hardcore, Metalcore, Melodic Hardcore, Post Hardcore, Emo, Grind, maybe even a little Power Violence (I don't actually know if that is a branch of hardcore, but whatever. :p).

Kif: I listen to a band called 'A Billion Ernies' who are a ska band with a bunch of screaming. That's the closest I've heard to ska-core.

Edit - Or skardcore as you put it.

Isn't that Skacore? Maybe I'm dumb.

Mike: Eh, but Middle Eastern is World, yet if you have a lot of Middle Eastern music you should probably specify so as not to be confused, neh?

Brian: That's because you're silly. :p

Tjebby 08-27-2006 03:27 PM

Vince, i meant like race. Its just a branch off you know.

I think he's talking about people. :p

Edit - /late

Also, I'm really into hardcore, so that's why I break it down.

Anyway, I'm off. Later pop-punk.

Oh I know, I just applied the analogy to music. I do that a lot :p

Later Brian.

Tjebby 08-27-2006 03:29 PM

But, do you need to break it down past like, post-hardcore, thrash, metalcore, melodic hardcore, grind? No.

Storm In A Teacup 08-27-2006 03:32 PM

hand-sanitizercore That's the genre my band will be.

Haha, I wasn't aware that people even went beyond that :-\

But that was sort of my point. If you have enough of it, you need to be more specific. But if you have a genre with only one band (or a race with one person), you obviously are being too specific and need to step back a little bit.

Tjebby 08-27-2006 03:37 PM

lol

Yeah, thats true. but like, usually when people do that its like, ten-twenty "popular" bands and a bunch of like, teenagers and all you know?

And we are talking about the core. So. Its not that popular.

Unowat?

I miss Tim.

Tjebby 08-27-2006 03:42 PM

Confused on what?

There are people who will label CTTS as Artcore/Mathcore. And its like, theres that one band, and about twenty or thirty kids trying to be like them. And you think, does it really need to be a genre?

math metal is a genre...is mathcore supposed to be like...math metal/hardcore? pfft.

but I suppose I see your point.

cbmartinez 08-27-2006 03:46 PM

Spazzcore and Dancecore are the gayest terms ever.

Tjebby 08-27-2006 03:46 PM

Oh, i've been enlightened then. I didn't know there was a math metal genre.

And Chris is right.

cbmartinez 08-27-2006 03:48 PM

I prefer tech metal to math metal.

Kif 08-27-2006 03:51 PM

I don't understand the difference between tech metal and math metal.

cbmartinez 08-27-2006 03:51 PM

There is none. They're the same genre.

Tjebby 08-27-2006 04:06 PM

The Opera House isn't within walking distance of the train though.

B 08-27-2006 04:27 PM

is the opera house near the train because last time i went there i was going to take it but my ex-step dad was like wtf its not near the train

Jessizzle 08-27-2006 04:37 PM

it's a hefty walk. it's all the way on the other side of queen street west...from spadina and queen street west(like reverb area) we took a street car down it costs like $3, but gets you there. if you ask the driver to tell you when to get off its all good.
