How many trash cans would it take Lars to record 300 songs?

/lame joke

Anyhow, I'm eager to hear the new album.

MRDuCran 07-29-2006 12:25 AM

Lars' drum sound is back to normal again.

pate 07-29-2006 12:29 AM

...and you know this how? Because of that new song live?

You have to admit that his drumming has improved alot since St. Anger based on the live song but then again its only one song so we'll see.

MRDuCran 07-29-2006 02:17 AM

I said his sound, all live gigs this year have had a better drum sound than St. Anger, it's not hard to judge when you have that.

I'm watching Live sh/t Binge and Purge, the Seattle show is awesome. It made me want to record ...And Justice for All.

Prince Charming 07-29-2006 03:06 AM
Just imagine the price of the album.
Just think all the paintings Lars could buy!

Ahh yes. You always bring the humor sir.

He won't make the same mistake again. Especially if it's going to lose him more money.

E_man 07-29-2006 03:13 PM

when people talk about lars drumming so many people forget that actually the drumming on ...and justice isnt held up in good stead, if by not the media than by MetallicA themselves, I quote James 'the drums are fucking awful, there's no depth. I don't know what the fuck we were doing, but back then we liked it'

MRDuCran 07-29-2006 06:52 PM

I still think they sound cool, even if the overall sound is a bit thin. I listened to it today.

Nepenthe 07-29-2006 06:53 PM

I kind of like the 'clicking' bass drum sound on AJFA.

MRDuCran 07-29-2006 06:55 PM

 Me too.

*cough* Session drummer *cough* :p

Jev 07-30-2006 03:38 PM

I too like the clicking bass, only decent thing about the drums.
Nah, I think they're just writing and recording the album now.
I wander if kirk will play solos in this new album

Mother 07-31-2006 07:42 AM

He will. The "new song" has a solo, so I bet its safe to say that solos are returning.:thumb:

It's funny...

the only to albums that I really like Lars's drumming on are the two albums that everyone else hates.

I love the sound of his drums on AJFA...But most dont
and I love the sound on St. Anger just because it's so different from the other albums...yet people hate that too

TheCallOfKtulu1993 07-31-2006 07:42 PM

Twisting Turning Schizophrenia.... Falling Deep into Demensia.... MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA

AJFA was a high point for Lars, I've never heard anyone say differently until now.

St. Anger's drums sounded terrible. They down produced them so much they sound like they costed him 200 dollars.

Really? hmm...oh well lol

all the Metallica fans I know are more into the Black album and load stuff...and they all seem to think lars is outta his element on anything Metal...

who gives a flying **** about it lol

Lionheart1827 07-31-2006 08:52 PM

Lars' best drumming imo is on AJFA and on a lot of the Garage Inc. Disc 2 songs.:thumb:

There was a session Drummer? I don't believe till someone proves it.

Chu 07-31-2006 11:41 PM

I don't know, I just heard Lars used a session drummer a lot on the earlier albums (I think maybe more so Ride?). I think it's kinda funny :p

Huber 07-31-2006 11:47 PM

I think it'd be truly stupid if he did. He can play all the parts, and we all know they are really simple.

However, if there is one, I bet his name is James Hetfield.

Lionheart1827 07-31-2006 11:53 PM

The session drummer rumor was just that, a rumor. I actually had a link that disproved it, but I doubt I'll be able to dig it up.

Plus, on Rough Justice, the live studio recordings of all of the AJFA songs, lars can be heard a couple of times in the background, and the drums are still just as good as they are on the album. Obviously Lars isnt that good now, but if you saw him live during the older days before Black, you would know.:thumb:

Yeah, I love that song.

heavy metal kid 08-01-2006 02:48 PM

So, here's a high quality video of the new song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwsbUUEOT9g

The song sounds good. Vocals don't sound that good.

Mekkalayakay 08-01-2006 03:02 PM

You know. If they boosted up the tempo to like double time, that song would actually sound really good. If you got rid of Hetfield that is. =/

Nepenthe 08-01-2006 03:04 PM

Yeah, I'm really worried about James' voice. Other than that, though, the song is great. The lack of wah in Kirk's solo made me happy.

heavy metal kid 08-01-2006 03:06 PM

Yeah, I agree with Mekka, the song needs more speed.

Still, it sounds good, I'm really looking forward this album.

MRDuCran 08-01-2006 03:08 PM

James' beard is fucking huge.

Jev 08-01-2006 03:23 PM

He's hiding his alcohol in it, we all thought he beat the addiction.

Nepenthe 08-01-2006 03:25 PM
James' beard is fucking huge.
And graying...

MRDuCran 08-01-2006 03:29 PM
He's hiding his alcohol in it, we all thought he beat the addiction.
lol Here's to James. :chug:
And graying...
Indeed. Is 43 a bit early to be going grey?

Jev 08-01-2006 03:57 PM

Not really. I think it's average.

My mum starting going grey at 20 something \m/

Nepenthe 08-01-2006 03:58 PM

It depends on the person. Some people don't gray until 60, some at 30.

EDIT: Some at 20 something.
