Don't tend to read through threads.

Kage 09-25-2006 07:49 PM

Perfectly fine. :) ;) :) ;)

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-25-2006 08:32 PM

I Isis will please Tool fans more than Mastodon. That's just what I'm thinking.

Kage 09-25-2006 08:34 PM

I agree. I wonder how Tool and Mast got hooked up in the first place.

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-25-2006 08:39 PM

Danny and Brann may have some connection in the brotherhood of unhuman drummers or something.

Lunch 09-25-2006 08:41 PM

The same way Peeping Tom got to open for the Who, I guess.

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-25-2006 08:50 PM

Yeah, that was a major 'wtf' when I read that, although I can kind of imagine Patton and Townshend could get along quite well. I mean Townshend smashes lots of stuff, Patton hides his own feces in the vents of hotel rooms....Yeah.

:p

Lunch 09-25-2006 08:51 PM

I heard they were getting owned by audiences though, unfortunately for Patton.

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-25-2006 08:53 PM

That seems like something that will always plague Patton as an opening act. :p

Lunch 09-25-2006 08:55 PM

A user who posts in CR thread every now and then (Walrus Gumbot/Kaleidoscope Eyes/Amanda) said they got booed off stage at the Boston show.

Kage 09-25-2006 08:55 PM

That just sucks. That's really lame of an audience to do that. I've sat through some opening acts that I hate, it makes me want to throw things at them, but I don't say a thing, I'm respectful enough to let them finish their show.

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-25-2006 08:56 PM

Well, Peeping Tom does kind of suck about half the time.

Kage 09-25-2006 08:57 PM

That's not the point. XD

I don't blame the audience. Thousands of people show up to see the Who, and probably some mediocre opening act that they can at least sit through and then forget about. But it's hard to expect that same audience to be able to even stand a band like Peeping Tom. Although I agree with you out of respect for musicians and their own bands, so I can't say I would ever boo a band off stage unless they were drastically terrible.

Kage 09-25-2006 09:00 PM

Well, I don't get what about Peeping Tom would make The Who fans not be able to tolerate them?

Lunch 09-25-2006 09:01 PM

I personally don't know either, like I said I wouldn't boo them off stage. But I wouldn't expect thousands of people in their 40's and 50's to receive them very well.

Kage 09-25-2006 09:02 PM

I guess that's a good point.

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-25-2006 09:04 PM

Then again, what band would be a good opener for The Who?

Kage 09-25-2006 09:04 PM

Yeah, few bands suck enough to be on their level.

Lunch 09-25-2006 09:05 PM

An acoustic set by the Who.
Yeah, few bands suck enough to be on their level.

Apparently moe. is opening for them at some dates in the west, again I can't really see that working very much but I guess they have a better chance than Peeping Tom. And by all acounts of Virgin Fest I've heard, not even the Chili Peppers could compete with them.

P.S. Thread Hijack!

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-25-2006 09:09 PM

Actually, moe. is pretty much perfect, I think. Several times more fitting than damn Peeping Tom. :p

Regarding Tool - Did anyone ever track down a bootleg of the Opiate extended version?

Lawltimez2

Kage 09-25-2006 09:37 PM

I've been looking into some live bootlegs from 2006, but so far none of the ones I've found have included Opiate. :-\

Those better have been damn good cookies considering he lost a $50,000 a year job over it.

One Groovin Clown 09-26-2006 01:36 PM

It's pretty suiting how i read that post during my criminolgy tutorial
That was a dumb move, i guess that's a reason why i won't be a cop. Anyways, on the topic of tool, i've managed to get my girlfriend almost as obsessed with the band as i am. She went out and bought Aenima, Lateralus and Undertow. Let's just say that fooling around is alot funner while listening to your favourite band :chug:

What are you doing that makes you take a ciminology class?

/is majoring in criminal justice

/is going for the police department exam on Oct. 14th

Anyway, I'm supposed to go over a guy I work with's house later in the week to check out his studio and jam for a bit and he's never heard Tool so he told me to suggest him some songs that could maybe be played acoustically. Any suggestions? I was thinking 4 degrees maybe, other than that I'm drawing a blank.

Also, I'm seeing them Saturday in DC. Weeeeeee!

Otherside 09-26-2006 10:45 PM

Schism, maybe Parabola

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-26-2006 10:46 PM

Staind did an acoustic cover of Sober.

Kage 09-26-2006 10:49 PM

Sober and Schism seem to be cool choices. Provided you have a bass and a guitar.

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-26-2006 10:55 PM

Wait! Maynard's Dick might work...:p

misunderstood 09-26-2006 11:05 PM

'Jimmy'...I actually just saw a video of a guy playing it acoustically on youtube.
