Foxfire 12-06-2004 02:42 PM

That symbolism's awesome. I'll have to bring it to class once (we're discussing symbolism in Literature).

:amaze: 12-06-2004 02:47 PM
ok every one I have a thread with pics of my new rig go check it
Good luck with the thread, I hope it stays on subject. I tried one last week, and got pics of Iraq, v-amps, and mixers.

PaulSimonon 12-06-2004 03:08 PM

I think I'm re-entering my early 90's grunge phase again.

PaulR 12-06-2004 03:09 PM

Why?

Foxfire 12-06-2004 03:11 PM
Good luck with the thread, I hope it stays on subject. I tried one last week, and got pics of Iraq, v-amps, and mixers.
The mixer the guy posted was a Behringer Eurorack. :p

PaulSimonon 12-06-2004 03:11 PM

I'm getting into Nirvana, eary Pearl Jam, soundgarden, Alice in Chains, typical grunge stuff, again.

Foxfire 12-06-2004 03:14 PM

Ew, Nirvana.

;p

PaulSimonon 12-06-2004 03:15 PM
Ew, Nirvana.

Ever listen to their unplugged session? It might change your opinion slightly.

Foxfire 12-06-2004 03:21 PM

I don't mind their music, I just dislike how Kurt was.

Omega Red 12-06-2004 03:22 PM

prepair for pure sechsyness, the sun was in my eyes

I always thought you were the biggest cracker ever.

PaulSimonon 12-06-2004 03:24 PM
I don't mind their music, I just dislike how Kurt was.
I don't think anyone with any REAL knowledge of Kurt Cobain's personality would like him. Don't you just hate those people who worship him for his personality and not his musical visions? I really respect him as a musician, but that's where my respect ends.

Foxfire 12-06-2004 03:25 PM

My problem is that he got all this respect because he KILLED HIMSELF. This music is awesome because he was this depressed guy to most people.

**** that man.

PaulSimonon 12-06-2004 03:26 PM

Any man who can cover David Bowie, the Meat Puppets, and Ledbelly in one set, and be an Abba and Beatles fan at the same moment commands some respect, though.

I think the way he went was meant to be quiet, but blew up (No pun intended :thumb: ), making him into a martyr.

Foxfire 12-06-2004 03:28 PM

Well see, I can't stand the people that go "I'm going to marry Kurt Cobain's clone" (true quote) and "It's better that he killed himself" (true quote by a fan) and "I can connect with his music so much, I know just how he felt" (another quote) and "Because I read his book or whatever I felt bad because I didn't interpret his songs correctly, so I went back and memorized all how he felt they should be interpreted cuz it made him so mad" (true quote).

etc etc

jamesr 12-06-2004 03:29 PM

I love nirvana, anyone my age would understand why. Music was just so bad before they hit. Winger, **** Yankees, etc YUCK! Thank you nirvana

PaulSimonon 12-06-2004 03:30 PM

Then again, he did mean for it to be a big deal, he was such an egotist. He really was a disgusting person, morally, mentally, and physically.

And Those people are dumbasses.

Foxfire 12-06-2004 03:32 PM

Indeed. But see, almost every girl I know is like that. Only one girl shares my views, and she recently started playing guitar (though she wants a bass).

PaulSimonon 12-06-2004 03:34 PM

I've gotten to dread talking about music outside of MX.

Foxfire 12-06-2004 03:36 PM

The only thing I don't like about her is that she doesn't like Primus.

PaulSimonon 12-06-2004 03:37 PM

There's only one person at school that likes Primus other than me that I know of.

Foxfire 12-06-2004 03:39 PM

I accidentally let my like of Dream Theater and Primus rub off onto a few of my friends. One of them is an ******* about music now. In a thread in the Rock and Metal forum, he posted

"Yeah, I don't see why my friends like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and a few other bands. I'm into more technically difficult stuff, like Dream Theater and Rush and Pink Floyd."

jamesr 12-06-2004 03:39 PM
There's only one person at school that likes Primus other than me that I know of.
They are not well liked outside the bass community. I think more than anything the singing turns most people off.

jamesr 12-06-2004 03:41 PM
"Yeah, I don't see why my friends like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and a few other bands. I'm into more technically difficult stuff, like Dream Theater and Rush and Pink Floyd."
RHCP not technically difficult?

PaulSimonon 12-06-2004 03:46 PM

Any of you two ever listen to Toad the Wet Sprocket?

jamesr 12-06-2004 03:48 PM
Any of you two ever listen to Toad the Wet Sprocket?
Nope...

twopelu 12-06-2004 03:49 PM

I dont like nirvana at all. They reinvented in some way grunge, but musically its quite poor. I dont think Kurt Cobain was a genious.

Foxfire 12-06-2004 03:50 PM
RHCP not technically difficult?
The worst is that this kid judges songs by their technically difficulty. Even worse still, he has trouble playing Smells Like Teen Spirit (he's a guitarist).

Foxfire 12-06-2004 03:50 PM
I dont like nirvana at all. They reinvented in some way grunge, but musically its quite poor. I dont think Kurt Cobain was a genious.
I don't think they're AMAZING (maybe amazing for their time period) but I'd rather listen to them than ton of the modern swill you have today.

jamesr 12-06-2004 03:52 PM

Tell him to look at under the bridge if he doesn't think the peppers are technical on guitar. That song is a bitc h to play.

Left Shoe 12-06-2004 03:54 PM

who listens to a song for technicality. thats so boring. some people are not meant for music

Foxfire 12-06-2004 03:56 PM
Tell him to look at under the bridge if he doesn't think the peppers are technical on guitar. That song is a bitc h to play.
I learned it the other day and that song is GENIUS. I think the only reason I didn't have too much problem learning is that I've been messing around with a classical style playing on bass a lot recently.
