was it your idea to be on anti-depressants?
Yerp.

I'm feeling ambivalent about it because this one is supposed to increase suicide risk by quite alot. My "depression" isn't that bad, I just have a huge lack of confidence and hate myself so I think about suicide alot.

I wish I could prescribe myself what meds I think would help, ugh.

Morumbar 12-04-2009 02:34 PM

I think living in Ireland or Scotland would be much more awesome than living in England.
I had a friend who was on "aspergers medication" for awhile because his mom used to insist he had it, when he was on it he acted even stranger and was really prone to aggravation, he stopped taking it several months before he went into the army and started acting a lot more normal, the strangest thing!
Yeah a while back my parents came up with this bizarre theory that my rebellious behavior had to be asperger's

so they tried to put me on anti-psychotic/schizophrenia medication because they said it was the only way i could think clear

i took one for two weeks and didn't have any effects other than crazy nightmares, i complained and got taken off. but a few months later they put me on another one and i didn't even bother taking it. any one who thinks a person with depression issues needs to be on dopamine-blocking psychotic medication is crazy.

i need all the dopamine and seratonin i can get

Angmar 12-04-2009 02:36 PM

Yeah, we have a lot of over medicating problems as it is, especially with younger kids that people should really stop trying to solve each and every problem with a pill.

Nepenthe 12-04-2009 02:36 PM

ive got excessive amounts of dopamine to share if you need some jaundice

got sworn into the air force yesterday dude

Morumbar 12-04-2009 02:37 PM

I don't see how anti-depressants should help. Do they make you change your mind about what you think of yourself and everything around you?
Yeah, we have a lot of over medicating problems as it is, especially with younger kids that people should really stop trying to solve each and every problem with a pill.
I completely agree with you there. My girlfriend's on a ridiculous amount of pills for depression and the like and I really don't think they help at all.

Angmar 12-04-2009 02:38 PM
ummm give me social skills and i wouldnt need medication lol
You can develop those as long as you're willing to try new things out of your comfort zone.

Trust me, I did the same thing back in high school and nowadays I'd say I have pretty good people/social skills.
I don't see how anti-depressants should help. Do they make you change your mind about what you think of yourself and everything around you?
I'm pretty sure they're just to improve daily functioning.

illmitch 12-04-2009 02:40 PM

unnecessary medication keeps capitalism going which keeps us all alive you commie ****s

Jaundice 12-04-2009 02:40 PM

it's a controversial issue with me.

I've had bouts of suicidal depression throughout my life, and i was on and off antidepressants for a good five or six years

i never found anti-depressants to have a single positive or negative effect on me that i could prove was from them. i just don't believe in them personally. i never really wanted them except the one time I tried Paxil for anxiety attacks. it was usually just my parents shoving them down my throat because to this day they haven't accepted me for who i am and they want to keep making up disorders to blame it on. According to my parents I will never be happy or successful in life without medication but I'm willing to take that chance.

Jaundice 12-04-2009 02:44 PM

i live in Metairie, it's a little suburb of New Orleans. I'm in my second year of community college.

BLASPHEMYOGAPHER 12-04-2009 02:45 PM

Well dude, I went into MEPS yesterday knowing that my vision needed correcting, but not to the extent that it'd be a problem. well, i pass the physical fine and i was told i can get my vision corrected at BMT, but once i got to my liaison i was informed I was dq'd for CCT and a few of my back up jobs. I wasn't upset or anything because I didn't want CCT and I knew I'd ace the PAST test so I didn't think otherwise.

he tells me I'm still okay for PJ, TACP, and SERE and I'm all excited. They tell me my oath starts at 1, and after that I'm officially in DEP. Well, I get out after swearing oath and they then inform me that I'm dq'd for EVERY spec ops job and all my back ups because 'apparently' my vision wasn't correctable to 20/20, which I think is BS. I don't even wear glasses.

I'm going to refute their claim and go to an optometrist on Wednesday and hopefully get some contacts for 20/20. I dunno if it doesn't work out though.

Nepenthe 12-04-2009 02:45 PM

i could train your parents for you dude ive got mine to the point where theyve realized theres just not much they can do to influence my actions in the slightest and its a pretty happy sitch right now

damn dude that sucks. if you cant get into spec ops what are you gonna do?

Morumbar 12-04-2009 02:46 PM

The thing is that depression among youth is becoming a more frequent occurence.
Not gonna lie, I consider suicide at times, but fear of the act has kept me from doing anything so far. But I mean, pills aren't going to make you change your mind about what you think of stuff around you. I know my social skills are a little awkward at times too, but I generally think that most people are either retards or assholes so I don't see why I should put any more effort into it. Sure, pills can make you see things from a more sunny side, but I think that's about it.

illmitch 12-04-2009 02:46 PM

im picturing anthony doing something like the dog trainer episode on south park

its not like spec ops is the only way to go. avionics was lookin really nice if the spec ops thing didnt work out. and any job in space systems will land you a sweet job after you do your years in the force.
