I listened some Metallica style song written by the people at GUITARIST magazine, and Apocalypse Dawn written by the people at TOTAL GUITAR. The both sound like Metallica and I was just trying to play through them.

Nepenthe 07-12-2006 02:16 PM

Speaking of Metallica style songs, has anyone ever heard the band Am I Blood? It's basically what Metallica would be if they had continued making Black Album style cds.
I prefer seat to standing, as long as the seats aren't miles away.

I had seats at the Earl's Court gig and it was pretty cool, I had a great view.
Depends whereabouts you sit. Some of the seats are so close and almost level with the standing area. Seats at the back in the corners are awful, never been in them but my friends were once and I was standing (ironically, it was at a Metallica show in 2003) and they phoned me and told me to wave and stuff and I couldn't see anyone at the back in the corners, so far away.

Jev 07-12-2006 04:26 PM

Those back seats suck indeed.
My friend got them but managed to get a closer seat by saying something about the marijuana fumes affecting him.

Damn, I would have stayed seated :p

Whats up with Robert playing in a country song?

Jev 07-14-2006 02:37 AM

Pardon?

Explain pls.

Soul_Under_Arrest 07-14-2006 02:52 AM
Whats up with Robert playing in a country song?
I know James did but I didn't think Rob did.

circlethedrain 07-14-2006 09:38 AM

My mom came to me the other day and was like "did the Metallica bassist quit cause he is in a country song"? I thought she was just imagining stuff so I did a quick search on the internet and here is the story.

http://www.nickelcreek.co.uk/music_nickelcreek.htm

In the video he plays Double Bass for this band Nickel Creek. Given his background I thought country would be the last place I would see Rob, but I guess it isn't that bad.

Britton 07-14-2006 03:41 PM

Hey me and my girl did a cover of a nicklecreek song!

Tallica' thread!

sup?

SIX THOUSAND POSTS!

I want to thank this thread for letting me get away with countless amounts of spam. I want to thank Chu, you were always on at 4 am when nobody else was.
I want to thank Joe for always backing me up and constructivly criticising my spelling and music.

and everyone else....thanks ;)

Haha, who would leave Metallica for a country band?

clown_phobia 07-14-2006 07:15 PM

Not me, that's for sure.

Blind Martyr 07-14-2006 10:12 PM
Haha, who would leave Metallica for a country band?
He didn't leave, he was just appearing for it.

heavy metal kid 07-14-2006 10:31 PM

Country is like a million times better than leaving Metallica to play with Tommy Lee.

PepsiMetal 07-14-2006 11:58 PM

That's true. Damn, wtf is jason thinking. That INXS Supernova show is such a garbage waste of time. And they mention the words rock 'n roll hundred times in one show.

Jev 07-15-2006 07:05 AM
He didn't leave, he was just appearing for it.
Yes, I know.

Jason Newstead is on the Rockstar Supernova thing?

They probably mention it so much cause the stupid contestants are picking like Duran Duran songs, wtf?

Jev 07-15-2006 12:07 PM

Duran Duran are cool.

Maybe not the right choice for "Rockstar" Supernova though.

MRDuCran 07-15-2006 01:38 PM

For any of thou that have Kerrang on their TV, it's Metallica night tonight.

Saturday 6pm-2am

Jev 07-15-2006 01:51 PM

Hmm, Kerrang. Doesn't sound too great.

MRDuCran 07-15-2006 01:59 PM

It's just showing all their videos. Bits of S&M, and interviews with other bands talking about them and an interview with Lars from Download 2006.

blue3 07-15-2006 01:59 PM

Other bands?

I hope Aiden's not in it.

MRDuCran 07-15-2006 02:38 PM

I haven't seen them yet. It's the headlining bands that were at DL apparantly. Trivium, Stone Sour are also on it too I think which doesn't make sense 'cause they didn't headline, and GnR and Tool aren't on it. Stupid Kerrang people.

MRDuCran 07-15-2006 04:08 PM

Argh they spelt Kirk's name wrong.

Kirk Hammet

When will they learn!!

Hah, congratulations.

highwaysalmon 07-16-2006 08:48 PM

wow, just watched all Some Kind of Monster with Metallica commentary. Quite a bit of neat stuff that they talk about.

BTW. I think James should come out with some sig 7 string explorer or something. Well maybe not an explorer.

Yeah SKOM was pretty interesting. I hate how people completely disregard the movie and go "rawr rawrar arw metallica such wusses, raerw rawr." I sat down and forced my parents to watch it. They dont even LIKE Metallica and even they thought it was interesting and enjoyed it.

7 string explorer.

I never thought of that ever.

But anyway, Hetfield wouldn't be able to release a signature explorer, since he doesnt like the new EX shape. The only way he gets those EXP's still is he buys them directly from Japan, custom shop.:thumb:

The only official Hetfield explorers are the ESP EXP shape before the lawsuit happened.

just got the unnamed feeling EP yesterday at tower records in boston while i was up there for a 3 day stay but havnt gotten a listen since i just got back home tonight

Jev 07-17-2006 03:33 AM

Listening back to the Unnamed feeling, those live songs sound pretty weak.

But Hetfield's lyrics on RTL make up for it.

Chu 07-17-2006 03:46 AM
But Hetfield's lyrics on RTL make up for it.
:p That be some MAAAAD improv.

Jev 07-17-2006 09:07 AM

He did it at the gig I went to, After watching the bootleg I have of it.

Maybe he forgets on purpose.

victim of changes 07-17-2006 03:31 PM

yea it really sux arent those the same performances that are featured on the Some Kind of Monster EP?
