I feel like if I had reach the floor of bass playing, for some reason I dont know.

I feel like all I know is what I aimed for when I started bass so theres not need of improving anymore. Strange feeling, scary in some way.

Have somebody felt this way before?
HI all!

To comment on what twopelu has said. Over the past month, after 2 + years of playing I finally reached that spot. Not to say I'm not adding to my theory, but as far as bass goes I am where i need to be. I'm not saying I'm great, but I can play anything except most stuff from wooten, jaco, miller, etc. I have reached every goal I ever intended, and I'm basically just enjoying myself now. I see it as a good thing, I feel set free. The first year or so I practiced for 3-4 hours a day, every day. Now I have more time to spend with Friends, family, and work on songs with my band. I guess it all comes down to one thing.... You can never learn everything, nor ever master the bass. You just have to find that point where you know enough to play what you want. I think a person can go crazy trying to learn everything, and end up losing site of what the wanted in the first place.

OK, does anyone else get this really annoying advertising thing saying that you've won a cruise on here? I only get it when coming here and it's only been for the past few days but it's really starting to annoy me. Especially since it's geared towards britain(free british hotline or something).
Mostly because no one's bothered listening to them yet.
True, I've just bought the new Mad Capsule Markets CD, so I'm listening to that at the moment. Maybe later!

jamesr 12-06-2004 12:14 PM

To just add to my earlier comment.... /\

I have played bass for 2 + years, but I played guitar for 2+ years before that. So I have been playing serious now for about 6 years on bass / Guitar. When I picked up a bass I already new a hand full of scales, the fret board, arpeggios, chord progressions, timing, ect.

Left Shoe 12-06-2004 12:23 PM

i think i have also hit that point , but im not going to stop improving , im going to keep pushing until i cant go any farther , then ill settle down

Mitchell Royce 12-06-2004 12:27 PM

I just need a good band again. I can still enjoy myself with basic 8th notes as long as the songs are good. Or maybe I need to start writing solo bass stuff.

Left Shoe 12-06-2004 12:31 PM

im gonna start doing solo bass once i get my conklin

Sometimes the sound isn't that good with a bass, but sometimes it is. Guitar effects are usually hit or miss. I'm happy with distortion, compression, and an eq.
