i think i snatched their album on whatcd a long time ago.
will listen when i find what folder theyre in |
im kind of realizing black metal is pretty dumb now. i mean, there are a lot of great bands out there like, mayhem, alcest, peste noire, akitsa, as well as tons of canadian and french acts, but for the most part this genre is ****
|
every genre is **** except for like 1 or 2% of those within each one
|
basically
|
Well yeah but in most other genres you can respect bands you maybe dislike. But with black metal, the bad bands are really, really bad.
|
Eh, that may be, but the only thing that really matters are the bands that sound good to you.
|
there's still a lot of great black metal
|
itt Austin grows up
it's adorable |
Plus, in all honesty, black metal has got to be the most 'hipster' genre there ever was. In genres like thrash, doom, death, etc there are characteristics that separate bands from each other - maybe it's their image, lyrics, vocals, whatever. Black metal is just too predictable to me now.
|
Everything can be hipster to anyone willing to analyze it enough.
|
the last black metal band i listened to that i actually thought was good was ruins of beverast
|
What?
It's just contradictory to call bands like WITTR hipster black metal when they've done more with the genre than any modern day Scandinavian black metal band has. I don't even ****ing like them, but they have experimented more with the genre than a lot of bands have. Repeating the same sound over and over again with a different unintelligible band name doesn't make sense. |
yeah you know how those damn hipster black metal kids are
not wearin any corpse paint or bondage leather and not even have any BLACK HAIR OMG |

I'm not sure how the term "hipster" applies to anything you just said here.
What? yeah i love how all of the only good new black metal bands that come out nowadays are labeled hipster because they actually do something new with the genre. i swear black metal is the only genre of any music that discourages and belittles ingenuity.
are you serious ron? listen to malevolent grain and then put back on whatever generic bm you were listening to beforehand. |
guys how the **** has WITTR done anything original with the genre
|
ok this isnt pnwi you dont ask dumb questions for the sake of arguing
|
uh no really, WITTR has done nothing original with the genre
can you name me one thing musically that they do that no other BM band has done? |

I'm not gonna dignify your question with a response. Just the fact that you asked the questions shows to me you didn't understand a word I said.

I own it and there's nothing unique about it at all hate crystal is a good song though
I'm not gonna dignify your question with a response. your argument/point is so typical simple minded forum nonsense.
|
you're mad because you're wrong
WITTR has done nothing that has not been done before |
ok then ron please list all of these bands that wittr sound exactly like
|
We're arguing about two different things, and the funny thing is you think it's about whether or not wittr are original or not.
thats why youre simple minded |
Just because you sound slightly different from other bands does not really make you "original". You're still utilizing the same techniques and archetypes that form the genre. So when you say "find me bands that sound EXACTLY like them", its impossible to do that for any band.
We're arguing about two different things, and the funny thing is you think it's about whether or not wittr are original or not. thats why youre simple minded
no see your post said they are doing something "new" and "experimenting" with the genre thats basically implying that they are doing things with BM that are original |
your argument really is stupid ron. if something didnt use the same techniques and archetypes of a genre, then it just wouldnt be that genre in the first place. wittr (and not only them theyre just the band that we happen to be using as an example) uses the black metal 'techniques and archetypes' and makes something that is unique, thats sound is not similar to any other bands but their own. "find me bands that sound EXACTLY like them"; this is not hard for 95% of black metal bands.
