what do you mean?
|
I'm guessing after they tour, yeah, they'll be done. Maynard said something along the lines of "everything has to come to an end sooner or later, and in this case [referring to Tool] it looks like it's gonna be sooner."
|
I personally feel like Tool has said all they have to say.
|
Had they topped Lateralus with 10kd, I'd be bummed to think that, but I think I'd rather hear what Adam can do with other musicians and styles. Maybe something other than pentatonica triplet hammers. >:-[
|
Haha. In a manner of speaking, yes. I think Adam will most likely puruse a visual artform though, personally.
|
I'm too stoked about this Bozzio/Buzzo collaboration though, heh.
I also wouldn't doubt him getting into animation or something again. Speaking of visual art, whats the deal with the Vicarious vid? Is it out yet? :-/ |

5 years can give you alot of material. |
Like the 7 songs on 10kd?
|

Yeah, I do remember him saying that, but I also remember Danny mentioning that Tool still had some records to do or something...let me see if can find the exact quote....here it is:
Q: What do you think you'll be doing ten years from now when you're fifty-four? Danny: "The same thing I'm doing now hopefully. Tool will do a few more records. In our case, ten years is two records. [laugh]"...so on and so forth. --Modern Drummer July '06
So who knows if the band will step down anytime soon. Things seem quite contradicting. |
10KD had some good songs but I really hoped for more of a change from the Lateralus sound. It's practically the same except for some of the chugga chugga crap. That's why I like The Pot, because it sounds completely unlike Tool's older stuff.

Sure. Who else has written a song about E.t.? :p Intension is probably my favorite song from them now. I like the electronica/trance drum beats carey was doing on his mandalas mixed with acoustic drums. I think they should do more stuff like that personally. |

If he ever gets serious and makes a non tool record that is though |
I think the next thing on Danny's agenda is a Volto! album, which is awesome.

Intension is extremely unique, although it's entirely too similiar to something APC would write. I mean, the vocal effect is very close to the one used during the intro of Vanishing. Even the ambience is reminiscient of APC. |
Intension is on of my favorites...Great vibe, beautiful guitar. And I love what they're doing with the electronics.
|
PS: I just remembered that they signed a 3 album deal with Volcano, and there's at least one album, maybe even two left on the contract.
|
I haven't listened to 10,000 Days in some time. I need to dig that up and give it a listen.
|
I'm starting to get sick of "Vicarious". It's very infectious, but highly reminiscent to Lateralus.
|
I was sick of it, then I realized that I've never gotten sick of a Tool song, so I decided to learn it instead. Compromise.
|
I've listened to 10,000 days so many times that im sick of the first few tracks not because I dont like the songs just because I've heard the songs sooo many times....wings pt. 2 is my favorite song on the cd still though and it has been since i bought it
|
The thing is they are catchy but they are boring.
>_> Yeah. |
I'm starting to believe that we'll never see a Vicarious video.
And one for The Pot? Forget about it. |
I think because they put so much time in between there albums they will go a long way. Maybe after making an album and touring non stop back to back you get sick of it and a band splits, but these guys go and do other things and give them a break. So, I'm sure when it comes time they go, "Haven't done Tool in awhile. Sounds like fun."
Like going to a good restaurant you haven't been to in awhile. |

It's like, they break up, when all they really needed was just some time off. That happened tot he first incarnation of King Crimson--a good number of the members quit and then realized their mistake just a few months later when it was too late. |

Do you mean the cartoon one with all the plants on a plantation and stuff? If so, shut up. :p If you mean something else, then do tell. |
I can't believe they postponed the show last night! After all my traveling! Nah, it was only an hour, heh. But still! Well, at least I got tickets for Isis' show tonight.
*upset* |
Anyways, I have a couple requests: First, can someone send me one or both of Puscifers songs? I'm interested on where Maynard will be going after Tool. Second, does anyone have a live AND extended version of Opiate? I've never heard anyone proclaim the badassity of this version, but it was honestly a highlight of the show for me.
I can send them both to you. Email address? |
