Twiggy_Skold 12-06-2004 08:27 AM

what color was the bass on which you got this blood all over? (trying to picture this in my mind)

twopelu 12-06-2004 08:30 AM
Dream Theateriorites, i need some Dream Theater help.
i have avoided listening to them up until now because i have heard that they have a terrible and annoying vocalist, but i've given in.
what would be a good first Dream Theater album to check out?
A good beggining album is the live recopilatory (sp?) called Live Scenes from New York, or the older rec called Five Years in a live time. If you prefer non live things then go for his opera prima, soooo ****ing good, Images and Words.

yeah, go ahead.

Accentopus 12-06-2004 10:05 AM

Hi all. Just a flying visit as i have coursework to do, but hope you are all well. Laters

Rollo47 12-06-2004 10:14 AM

Well, basically tried out a few different basses.

Yamaha RBXsomethingorother: Decent - good for a beginner, but not what I was looking for.
Ibanez BTB400 - Nice. Really thin, flat neck though, which took some getting used to. Had a bit of nasty buzz.
ESP LTD Something - Really nice - good tonal variety, nice action.
Spector something - Not great. Intonation problems, would have been nice if it weren't for that.
Washburn Taurus T24 - Awesome. Really really good. I'm definitely look at getting it. Great tone, really natural, and it looks great.
Yamaha, higher end RBX, I think. Seemed to have a graphite neck. - Nice, but the tone was too modern for my tastes. Other than that, great to play.
Cort Curbow - Nice, just not my thing. Slap switch was interesting, though.
I also tried a couple of different Ibanez' in the Soundgear series. They were nice, too, but I liked the Washburn better.

EDIT: The BTB was a BTB300, and the "higher end RBX" was an RBX374

And that was how my day went in the music shops. Bastards at the shop with the Washburn wouldn't trade in my alto sax, so I have to wait until I sell it privately to buy the Washburn. But I can wait, it's worth it.

Rollo47 12-06-2004 10:37 AM

I killed it!

Spaceman Spiff 12-06-2004 10:48 AM
What are your Favorite and Least Favorite Adult Swim shows.
i only left The Oblongs on because it is sometimes funny.

Rollo47 12-06-2004 10:49 AM

Still dead. My my, this is sad.

Spaceman Spiff 12-06-2004 10:51 AM

Rollo47 12-06-2004 10:58 AM

You can't prove anything. You didn't see nothing.

twopelu 12-06-2004 10:59 AM

Hi all, again here, bored. I was playing PoT (learning the parts I didnt know/remember, and finally I archieved it for that strange comp/challenege. It bored me a lot, its indeed a boring song I think cause its not challenging but not easy).

Spaceman Spiff 12-06-2004 11:00 AM

nya!
i've got it all on film ya see! i've got documents ya see!
yer goin' to the slammer for a long time, buddy!

Rollo47 12-06-2004 11:05 AM

PoT is not boring! Fun to play, I think.

Nope, can't prove anything. And if you can, I'll stab ya.

Rollo47 12-06-2004 11:08 AM

I'm going to bed.

Night All.

twopelu 12-06-2004 11:09 AM

I feel like if I had reach the floor of bass playing, for some reason I dont know.

I feel like all I know is what I aimed for when I started bass so theres not need of improving anymore. Strange feeling, scary in some way.

Have somebody felt this way before?

Duncster 12-06-2004 11:12 AM

^I don't think I ever will.

Left Shoe 12-06-2004 11:14 AM

home sick guys whatsup

twopelu 12-06-2004 11:29 AM
^I don't think I ever will.
I dont know. Im not that good, no where near to that good you know. But I feel that way today, I cant explain way. Its bad day to play bass, sometimes this happens. I wont think about it that much...

I want a SUB! I need a SUB! I have an OLP and it sounds amzing to me, how much more amazing could SUB sound?

Mitchell Royce 12-06-2004 11:30 AM

twopelu, you're not in a band at the moment, are you? I'm having a similar feeling lately, it just sucks. Need to get together with some people that I can manipulate into playing the stuff I want.
How's it going LeftShoe?

Left Shoe 12-06-2004 11:44 AM

i think i have strep throat but meh it gets me out of school so life is good
and found this new band im enjoying listening to
www.straylightrun.com

Wintermute 12-06-2004 11:49 AM

I approve immensely of the name...

my AIM/YIM is StraylightAscent, and I only took that because StraylightRun was taken, as was Straylight.

It's from the same book as Wintermute.

Saitoku 12-06-2004 11:52 AM

Hmmm.... how is everyone?

Left Shoe 12-06-2004 11:52 AM

excellent band , kind of like death cab for cutie , except with taking back sundays singer , and less emo

Left Shoe 12-06-2004 12:05 PM

*has killed the conversation in the casual thread*

Mitchell Royce 12-06-2004 12:09 PM

Mostly because no one's bothered listening to them yet. I would if Sister Ray wasn't blasting right now. From the descrition it sounds like something I would have liked about 3 years ago when I was really into Thursday and the like.
