The Cribs - Moving Pictures
Their album 'Mens Needs, Womens Needs, Whatever' is pretty good. They definitely have their own style |
Saccharine Trust - The Great One is Dead
|
Wilco - Summerteeth
my first wilco album. really good, and from what i've heard, the best wilco album to start with. really catchy, accessible stuff. |
wilco is one of my favorite bands. by far the best live show ive ever seen. YHF is their best, but Id say its good to start with Summerteeth and the twangier stuff.

Great album, too bad almost no one has heard it. They still play shows sometimes which I believe are sparsely attended. Blonde Redhead- Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons Blonde Redhead- 23 Blonde Redhead- Misery is a Butterfly |

Ochre - A Midsummer Nice Dream
its like a Boards of Canada/Aphex hybrid. Pretty solid. |
Meg Baird - Dear Companion
Sir Richard Bishop - Fingering The Devil Sunn 0))) and Boris - Altar |
Dear Companion rules.
Digging lots of Joe Hisaishi and Ghost. |
Erik Satie - Gnossiennes and Gymnopedies
Jon Lucien - I Am Now/Mind's Eye/Rashida Dan Kaufman/Barbez - Force of Light Listening to the Lucien stuff right now, some old soft pop/soul/funk **** by a dude from the Virgin Islands. I Am Now is kinda insufferable, a bunch of elegant standards from Cole Porter and Antonio Carlos Jobim and such. Really dull. Mind's Eye is really pretty cool, though. Completely unlike most contemporaneous stuff, with the exception of other tropical funk I've heard and some of the more worldly Stevie Wonder was doing at the same time. Gonna listen to Rashida next. The Satie is great. I've heard a couple versions of First Gymnopedie, and the song kept appearing in random places and I really like it so I figured I should probably get some Satie. Libraries are great. The Kaufman/Barbez stuff is Tzadik. |
Satie is really cool. Childlike.
|
I was curious what gymnopedie meant so I looked it up. And childlike, yeah.

The Modern Lovers - S/T
|
Jets to Brazil - Orange Rhyming Dictionary
It's exactly what Jawbreaker would've sounded like if they made two albums after Dear You. |
Love that album.
