quoted for total utter indisputable truth |
Okay, I have a dilemma. I'm upgrading my crappy cymbals (Pearls) that I've had for 4.416 years. I'm looking for a set of hats that have a very tight, articulate, clean, and clear sound when closed, and very bright when open. Washy when slightly open, but not when closed. I have narrowed it down to four.
1. 13" AAX Studio Hats 2. 14" AAX Stage Hats 3. 14" A Custom Hats 4. 13.25" K Custom Hybrid Hats In that order, I believe. Any opinions, suggestions? |
what about a custom mastersound hats? they sound like they could be what you're after, never heard the hybrids, the studio hats sound nice, a guy i know has them and i heard them live, very nice hats, never heardthe stage hats

Don't you mean K Mastersounds?
|
i think they make both
|
Didn't see any K Customs on the site.
All right, it's a toss up between the 13" A Custom Mastersounds and the 13" Studio Hats. I wasn't a big fan of the K hats, they were too dark and washy for my liking. |
do 2oo2's have a rep for breaking?
Not really... It all comes down to the player. Diego what happened to you buying the sigs?
15" signature
Garbage. 15 inches and sound edge, no thanks :-/ 13 IMO is big as you should go with anytype of sound edge, mastersound cymbal. |
I changed my hat preference. At first I thought wash>all, but now I'm more about tight, closed hat sounds. So I just didn't get them.

Ah, ok. Dont get any sound edge, mastersound thing then. As far as tight closed hats, check out the Quickbeat/Newbeats |

yea, the 13'' quick beats should suit you very well, excellent hats. or maybe 13'' AAX fusion hats, but they may be too washy, i haven't played them for a while |
I've played the Mastersounds before, and I really liked them. I don't like New Beats, and I don't know why. I just don't like any of the A line up basically. I like the fusion hats too, I was gonna go with those also, but they're too loose for my liking.
|
The quick beats are a little too washy for my liking, also.
|
K Custom Special Dry hats maybe?
|
The quick beats are a little too washy for my liking, also, but those New Beats that I tried out are absolutly awesome. I had no idea such wonderness could be made into a cymbal!
Yeah, you should go try them out. They ARE fantastic. |
Yeah, you should go try them out. They ARE fantastic.
froggys my man, we've been over this before, not everyone sleeps with their new beats next to them at night |

I'm not a big fan of 2oo2's hats. Weird, I know.
Oh right, I knew that. EDIT: Name is George, by the way. |
Hmm
12 Inch Zildjian Recording Customs. I might have come to late though.. |
I'm not a big fan of 2oo2's hats. Weird, I know.
Oh right, I knew that.
meh, some love 'em, some don't, it happens. just like i personally don't like A Custom Mastersounds |
I love all the other Paiste hats (Minus the rudes...blech) but there is just something about 'em I dislike.
|

haha i like some rudes, the chinas are pretty sweet, and the thin crashes are okay, but the crash/rides are kind...bad |
I only like Rude chinas. Even those aren't that good.
|
Yeah, so it turns out I want HHX 13" Evo Hats.
Or maybe the Mastersounds. I know, I know.... |
hahaha. isnt shoping for cymbals fun. don't forget to look at Meinl
|
has someone played the paiste 13" signature sound edge hihat danny Carey uses?
i heard it on a tool concert and it sounded beyond awesome, so awesome i might look into them (although it will take me ages to afford one) |

I love basically all Byzance hats, but no stores around here sell them and the only place I know with clips is the site, so. |
Ive got a 14 inch A fast crash, and a 16 inch A medium thin crash, I was looking for a bigger crash to add on. I was leaning to sabian for some reason, but anything works. I want something versitle, I play mostly rock, but sometimes I have to do some metal, and Ive been picking up some jazz. Im not too sure what exact sound I want. Any suggestions?

I need a good cutting powerful ride, with a great sounding bell.
|
sabian paragon ride
or whatever zildjian makes, the mega bell ride...If it isn't the Z series one. |
Are we saying he can't buy a ride out of the Z Custom line?
http://zildjian.com/EN-US/products/default.ad2?catalogID=1012&seriesID=&typeID=9 Might wanna try out a Rock Ride, or a Ping Ride or something like that as well, from the A line. |
I need a good cutting powerful ride, with a great sounding bell.
AA raw bell dry ride my friend. that ride is jesus. |
I guess no one really saw this...

Vault Crash?
20 Thin/Medium Thin. |
I would go with something around 18", yea 14" crashes can be awkward.
Sabian has a lot of good crashes, look into AA medium/med thin, AAX stage, AAXplosion, vaults if you want but im not tooo too fond of those. Go into a store and hit everything they have. |
I'm looking for some funk hats from either zildjian, sabian or istanbul to use as my primary hats Any suggestions?
