Lately I've been listening to a lot of Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Slayer, Black Sabbath, Pantera, Black Label Society, Judas Priest and Ozzy Osbourne. In short I'm looking to move beyond the big names in metal and don't know where to start. Based on what I listen to now do you guys have any recomendations? Thanks!
I recommend you stop listening to shitty music and drive down to dallas so i can beat your ass

rasputin 02-01-2011 12:35 AM

want some new grind. already have quite a bit but can't be bothered listing right now. the closer it sounds to insect warfare, the better.

Grind? Maybe Gaza, not totally sure what to call them.

I've really gotten into Intronaut lately, recommend me something jazzy!

Tyler 02-01-2011 03:06 PM

do you want something jazzy or something that sounds like intronaut?

check out grayceon

Txus 02-01-2011 08:45 PM

Hmmm get Cellgraft - External Habitation, Hip Cops / Gate split and Hemdale - Self Titled. I really can't think of anything else that you haven't heard from the genre.

rasputin 02-01-2011 09:19 PM

awesome, thanks

alachlahol 02-01-2011 10:25 PM

Obligatorisk Tortyr - Aterforodelse (grind/crust)
LOT - LOT

i can't remember where i picked up that LOT album i'm trying to find it now and i'm not succeeding. here's their last.fm: http://www.last.fm/music/Lot

also:

Black Arrows Of Filth & Impurity - 1984 (Eternal)

and i'll assume you've already heard Watchmaker

none of the stuff i've recced is very close to IW unfortunately

nevertoolate 02-02-2011 05:44 AM

rasputin 02-02-2011 09:29 AM

and ive already listened to machetazo brent, but thanks for the rec anyway

Juddybear 02-03-2011 12:27 PM

do you mean new grind in the sense you havent heard it before or new as in literally new?

rasputin 02-03-2011 10:44 PM

new as in i hadn't heard it before. i don't really care when it was made tbh, as long as it's good and sounds like IW

Have you heard Wormrot? They remind me of Insect Warfare quite a bit at times

Strum 02-15-2011 06:09 PM

so is Year of the Black Rainbow any good?

loved t he last album and just realised this has been out for ages now :(

DurzoBlint 02-20-2011 09:52 AM

Hi, is there any bands similar to "the ocean" you would recommend? I really enjoy all their albums (Their newest one is my least favorite), in particular aeolian and precambrian are excellent. I prefer their heavier sections / songs, but I am not too fussy with how much chill is in a bands sound.

Deth 02-20-2011 11:52 AM

cult of luna
general lee
humanfly
isis
neurosis
rosetta
year of no light

some to get you started with, I'd image you know a few of them already
