Yeah, that'll be hard to do around here... I play sax, but my chops are in the ****ter.
Hey, I play sax too! And I have the tone quality of a middle schooler!
I played clarinet for three years before playing sax. I sort of want to just try out my clarinet, see if my emboushcre is any better on that. I think it is.
That's what I wrote. I included all 3.
Anyways, i liked all the entries.

I need to get some recording equipment.
Know any programs or hardware for bass-->computer recording?
If you're interested, I can upload Adobe Audition 1.5 for you. It's what I use.

The cheapest solution is to record straight to your soundcard with a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter (like three bucks) and using Audacity (free).
Well I mean I learn each piece seperately, but at least at the beginning I have to think of them as one. Then I start to memorize the piece and it is easier. I figure that's just part of training my hand independence, I assume it will get easier.
I wish I had stayed on piano longer too. It's okay though, even the lessons I took as a little kid gave me a huge head start in understanding music. I don't remember a time when I couldn't read music. It was weird going into my electronic music class this year and being around kids who didn't know anything about reading music, I totally take that for granted.
Yeah, I have been able to read music for something like 7-10 years. When I went into my music theory classes back in high school, these kids weren't able to read and I was just sitting there being fluent like I was born with it. It was weird, and a majority of the kids in the class didn't understand anything in the first place, so it was a bit annoying having to take so long to go through the process of everything. I already knew most of the material in the class as it was, but it was a nice review and a good thing to learn little things I had skipped over during the process of me memorising everything.

That's helpful, but i'm also missing devices for actually recording my bass.
Usb/1/4" jack or even a mic.

Efrim 10-23-2006 09:10 PM

Your amp has a line out, yes?

/hasn't played sax in an organized group in three years....

Concert band at school had no appeal to me. Played in sax in Jazz band awhile ago, which was cool. Played bass in jazz band last year, but they suck at getting info out at Fishers, so I'm not in it this year.

Efrim 10-23-2006 09:11 PM

Go to radioshack or whatever, pick up a 1/4" to 1/8" converter, and you're all set.

Pluperfect_Arson 10-23-2006 09:12 PM

Clarinet and saxophone players in here?

Represent!

I played clarinet for three years, and then I moved onto tenor sax and flute all while playing bass.

Gosh, I love music.

Ah. Well, I'll upload AA for you anyway, since it's relatively small.

Yeah. Even the best musicians in my school's bands don't know theory that well. I am really fortunate in the fact that my mom is a musician, so she started me on piano early. More than that though it was that she was always like playing guitar around me, so I developed a real passion for music.

Thonk 10-23-2006 09:15 PM

You don't have a USB port or a mic jack?

Wow...

Efrim 10-23-2006 09:16 PM

I was a trombone player, and now I'm all about the didjeridoo. I'm also slowly building a kora.

BenJammin 10-23-2006 09:17 PM

You lucky bastards.

I feel like I got such a late start on music and that I'll never be truly competent in the eyes of the music community.

Thonk 10-23-2006 09:17 PM

I need to get my hands on Cubase again.

It's the only relatively easy to get program that runs Guitar Rig 2.

irishslappop 10-23-2006 09:17 PM

im currently playing what i call the danitron, its an old phone skeleton that i rigged a battery to. it makes sounds like a phone but i hook it up to my BP200 and have all kinds of fun.

Efrim 10-23-2006 09:18 PM

Hey, it doesn't mean that much. I know a ton about music. Does that mean I'm a competent player? No.

Let's move in together and start a band that excels on incompetency. For an ironic twist, we'll call ourselves Good.

Brilliant, sheer brilliance. We could also be The Mediocre Experience.
