A customs medium crashes maybe, or should i go with the a zildjian?
Your best bet would be to go to www.zildjian.com and sound test the cymbals... Both Zildjian A and A Custom are great cymbal lines :thumb:
posting this again since i didn't get an answer:

I'm getting a new cymbal set, and now i found some dealer that sells NEW zildjian cymbal 25% under retail price..
now i need 2 crashes. I play mostly metal (arch enemy, some metallica influences), and i was thinking of buying a zildjian medium crashes, but i heard some good things about a custom mediums..
and i don't dare to buy K's. not that i have no technique, but they just don't cut throught thoroughly.. which 2 crashes would cut through nicely in both heavy playing, and maybe some ballads (like covering nothing else matters), A customs medium crashes maybe, or should i go with the a zildjian?. thanks in advance :)
25% off retail?

Thats flippin expensive!

Its usually 40% off around here.

\m/-CHeV-\m/ 01-29-2006 05:07 PM

it's 25% off. and that's HIS retail price.. I'm getting another 30% off :)..

About zildjian.com.. I can hear what they sound like, but i just don't know (lol sorry forgot to include that in my question) If customs would suit the music well.. i like the sound of both cymbals but the mediums are kinda thick, and i was wondering if they would be responsive enough when playing some less heavy music..?? anyone?
anyone?
I'm sure the A Zildjians would suite many music genres as they are versitile cymbals... If you like them I see no harm in getting them...

HeLLmO 01-29-2006 08:40 PM

well, i'm not sure exactly how they compare, but Byzance and HH are both amazing, so that would be on u

chewaz 01-29-2006 11:22 PM

rock ride=perfect
AAXcelerator, AAX stage, AA regular hats are all good choices.

BradDawg 01-30-2006 11:01 AM

Right now this is what I own:

22" Paragon Ride
19" AAXplosion Crash
19" Paragon China
18" AAX Stage Crash
18" Vault Crash
14" AAX Stage Hats
11" MAX Splash

Im always looking to add to my set up, and I was hoping you guys could help me out. I would like to add some more cymbals and I would like your opinions and suggestions as to what will sound good. These are the ones id like to add:

15" Hats of some sort, looking at special ordering 15" HHX Stage hats or maybe 15" Vault Hats
17" Crash, I was thinking a vault to complement my other crashes?
13" Hats, i was thinking the paragons for a nice higher pitch sound for hats
another ride, i was thinking maybe the 21" AAX Stage ride?, primarily becuase i think the paragon is just too pingy for me
another splash, maybe the 10" paragon?

any suggestions for those sizes would be greatly appreciated or any opinions you have of the ones i mentioned. and i know im a whore but please only sabian suggestions. thanks alot

Drum Monkey 01-30-2006 11:07 AM

What you are looking to get fits perfect with what you have... I think that's a great set-up :thumb:

Too bright for my taste, but thanks.

TTTSNB 01-30-2006 05:44 PM

So, I'm looking for a more washy ride that still has a great deal of volume. I've found that I enjoy using this kind of sound to create a sort of cushion of sound...any suggestions?

FL3P 01-30-2006 07:20 PM

I have the A Custom medium ride and it works fine in that regard.

AA medium ride or AAX stage ride. good washy rides right there. AAX stage ride crashes really well too.

HeLLmO 01-31-2006 05:34 AM

^definatly agreed. lots of wash, great crash. i'm not the biggest fan of tons of wash, i prefer dry, but damn those stage rides are nice

Drum Phil 01-31-2006 06:22 AM

I always found the HH and HHX rides to be quite washy

Tim 01-31-2006 08:57 AM

pretty much any medium ride will have good wash to it.

Do you lot recond a 16'' Wuhan China will go with a 18'' UFIP Tigar China?

I ask as, i have had the tigar on order for 6 months, and due to 'issues' with UFIP Internatonal, well it the order has now been changed to UFIP Italy. And the order left Italy last wednesday.

As i have a gig on thursday, i cant see the tigar being here by then, so im trying to get a 16'' Wuhan.

But in the long run, do you think they will go in sound? (I've never heard a Wuhan, but the 16 is £30, so i cant go wrong really).

New cymbal

Hi I'm new.

I'm looking for advice on new cymbals.
I'm looking at a Ride cymbal and maybe a china or Splash, I play rock mostly but other types depending what I feel like playing.

Right now I have Sabian B8 13'' hi-hats
and a Sabian B8 16'' thin Crash.

saars 01-31-2006 07:45 PM

^^first thing, replace your hats and crash with better cymbals. Then, start building up.

Myslik 01-31-2006 08:48 PM

What exactly are better cymbals to replace mine with...
I haven't really added or removed anything for 3 years and I'm not all that up to date on cymbals... or drums for that matter.

If this is what you have I strongly suggest buying a ride cymbal... Some good lines to check out include Sabian AA/AAX aswell as Zildjian A/A Custom. They are professional cymbals and you will most likely not need to upgrade from there...

Dont buy the pack. Youre better off buying seperately.IMO you get a more unique sound. If you dig the pack then go to your local music store and they should be able to order it for you.

Hey i was just wondering, ive got a 16" crash and 20" ride and i wanna get another cymbol 2 go in the middle cause its a damn long way 2 move from the ride 2 the crash quickly in say chorus' so watd would b best 4 say a punk/alternative band. A small splash crash or a larger crash? And also i wanna know at what level r paiste 302's at? good? ****? average?

chewaz 02-01-2006 11:30 AM

hhye, anyone knows with wich hats (sabian) can i get the sound of the one on the police - Roxanne? The TSSS, it's awesome

I would say go for another crash. In a punk/alternative settings you might not want a splash too much as you will be limited to very few splashes because you want a cymbal tahts gonna cut really well. the paiste 302 were the old paiste beginner lines. Just save up your money for something a bit more higehr end. Id say get an 18 or 19inch crash, something along the lines of AA, AAX, A custom or A. All those lines have soem good crashes for that kind of music.
