On a different topic i was listening to the new song tab and it has kinda like a Kill em all feel to it. Although it would be a little better if it was a little faster.

MRDuCran 06-21-2006 07:07 PM

Kill Em All? The new song? You don't think it sounds more St. Anger-ish?

pep 06-21-2006 07:36 PM

hey i was just trying to put in my mind that the new album wont be another st anger

MRDuCran 06-21-2006 08:02 PM

lol oh sorry. Well regardless of what we all want, we can't change what they write now can we. If you ask me, I'd say it'll have the groove and heaviness of St. Anger, and the melodic elements of Load/Reload.

.:Thrasher:. 06-21-2006 08:02 PM

well it cant be as angry as St. Anger seeing as James is out of rehab. but as long as they make something similar to And Justice For All, im gonna be so fukn happy

MRDuCran 06-21-2006 08:14 PM

Yeah same here, that's my fave Metallica album overall. I love Blackened.

pep 06-21-2006 08:16 PM

Id prefer something like RTL, but i havent paid much attention to AJFA.

MRDuCran 06-21-2006 11:48 PM

I just downloaded Some Kind of Monster and am watching it now for the first time.

Obviously I've heard about it before but it's really similar to Lamb of God's Killadelphia where Mark and Randy argue and fight over the on stage performance of their lives shows. Randy ends up getting a black eye.

If I was in Metallica's situation, I'd definately be Kirk, I hate arguing.

PepsiMetal 06-21-2006 11:54 PM

I thought James would punch Lars once for being an idiot, but he just left. And I hate when they slam the doors on purpose just to look really really mad. Well if he did it on purpose of course. Fight between lars and james would have been nice to see though.

Kirk was sitting on a sofa, and saying in a girly voice "Come on guys, let's not argue we have better things to do." Haha

MRDuCran 06-22-2006 12:27 AM

I think it's pretty scary to see a band like that. You see them on stage on front of 100,000 people playing heavy metal and having a great time, and then in regular clothes, hair tied back screaming at each other and actually meaning it.

Just lets you know what can really happen when you're with the same people for 2 decades.

I also think it's pretty sad seeing Dave Mustaine being in arms reach of the man who turned his whole life to shit.

I'm downloading the video for Rock AM Ring 2006 atm.
1.45GB, 4.5% done @ 22kb/s.
I also think it's pretty sad seeing Dave Mustaine being in arms reach of the man who turned his whole life to shit.
Psh, yeah, shitty life being the starter of megadeth, the second most popular metal band of all time. I'd be happy being in mustaines position as 2nd best. If they wouldve kept Mustaine, it could possibly be Metallica wouldn't have made it as far as they did. Something wouldve exploded along the way.

Its kinda silly, if you listen to the commentary, when it is the scene with mustaine, lars says that after the interview with him, they got into the car and they turned the radio on and it was enter sandman playing on the radio. They switched the station to another metal station and it was another tallica song.:p

MRDuCran 06-22-2006 04:17 AM

Well being the 2nd most poplar band is an opinion, but wherever they are, Mustaine still sees Megadeth behind Metallica and obviously he hates it.

It might be good to start a band and get that far, but the reason he had to start another band was pretty fukked up for him.

Kyle 06-22-2006 04:25 AM

That's true, but he should probably put himself in the position of the thousands of kids trying to make it in a band and failing. When he realises how blessed he actually is, maybe he'll stop whining.

MRDuCran 06-22-2006 04:28 AM

lol Definately.

Kickflip_Burrito 06-22-2006 05:48 AM

I kinda feel sorry for Mustaine but he kinda brought on his departure himself. Always been wrecked and drunk and fighting and all that stuff. Apparently he beat Hetfield up after being fired

Megadeth were still very successful though and most bands go through their entire careers without achieving half of what Megadeth achieved. Metallica became superstars but like someone else said, I don't think they would've attained such a high status if Mustaine was still in the band. Infact, if Dave was still in Metallica, they'd probably be at the same level of success Megadeth are at now.

Imagine Metallica if Mustaine and Cliff Burton were still in the band

For some reason I cant .... I imagine Dave mustaine having a fight with lars in the early 90's and quitting the band himself.

Jev 06-22-2006 06:57 AM

If they hadn't of kicked him out when they did, it would've happened at a later date.

Dave's just too angry to get on with them :p

Slapping Penguin 06-22-2006 07:13 AM

If Metallica was: Cliff, Mustaine, Hetfield and ........lets say Hamment took up the drums hehe. It would own.

He's far too laid back to play drums.
Kill Em All? The new song? You don't think it sounds more St. Anger-ish?
When they played it at download i thought it sounded more like a heavier sonf from the load/reload era

I would just be Jason...fuck this I'm off lol

Or Rob in that situation so then I could just be 'dudes, just be groovy' and then play a 15 minute jazz solo

Whilst doing the 'crab walk' around them

MRDuCran 06-22-2006 12:01 PM

I just finished downloading Metallica live @ Rock AM Ring 2006.

I was hoping they played The New Song so I could see/hear it better but they didn't. But I do have the whole Puppets album played live in perfect quality.

Kyle 06-22-2006 12:22 PM

I though Rock Am Ring was where they first premiered the new song, or was that another German show?

MRDuCran 06-22-2006 12:42 PM

They played it first in Waldbuhne (Berlin) on the 6/6/06 I believe.

Jev 06-23-2006 04:48 PM

Ah, that was confusing me.

I thought maybe they played two sets at Rock am Ring.

timmySmi 06-23-2006 05:42 PM
When they played it at download i thought it sounded more like a heavier sonf from the load/reload era
Yeah I said this earlier, I found it sounded similiar to Wasting My Hate.

Kyle 06-23-2006 07:00 PM

The drums in the new song completely change the dynamics from the load/Re-load era.

MRDuCran 06-23-2006 07:40 PM

It's got the same kinda of gutiar/vocal style though, I have to agree, I think it sounds like something from Load mixing with St. Anger, but of course it doesn't really matter what it sounds like, as long as it sounds good.

highwaysalmon 06-23-2006 11:43 PM

wtf, how come theres no metallica tabs at metaltabs.com?????

wait, nevermind, just read the FAQ, anyways,
just watched both "a year and a half in the life of metallica" tapes. Pretty sweet, found it funny how they had to build that wall of foam for Jason becuase he picks so hard.

ghettoeddo 06-24-2006 02:54 AM

...wall of foam?

real bassists dont use picks

Wall of Foam? Please explain.

I haven't seen these tapes.

Nothing wrong with bassing with a pick either.

Ya, he was recording a bass line for Wherever I May Roam, and they had to take all these massive squares of sponge foam stuff and build a little room around him because he picks the strings to hard and it was interferering with the soud bob rock was hearing out of the speakers. Something like that anyways, if youve seen the videos, you'd know what i mean.

Jev 06-24-2006 04:15 PM
Everything is wrong with bassing with a pick.
Not really.
Just because you don't use fingers, people assume you're a crappy bassist eh?

I see, I'll have to steal them or something.

Soul_Under_Arrest 06-24-2006 05:19 PM

They did play one of their new songs at Rock Am Ring...It's on youtube but the quality is pretty bad (cell phone recording)

Kyle 06-24-2006 05:20 PM
They did play one of their new songs at Rock Am Ring...It's on youtube but the quality is pretty bad (cell phone recording)
Yeah, I think most people know that, we were debaing where they played it first. Which was apparantly a different german show.
