Favorite?
Whoa, whoa, whoa... /prefers OutKast, Public Enemy, NWA, The Roots, De La Soul, Jurassic 5, Mobb Deep...
It would be either them or Outkast. I grew up listening to Outkast. |
How long has outkast been around? Just since that damn hey ya song?

No way, they have been around for a long time now. They are one of the few rappers to come up with something fresh for each album. |

Not even close. Try since 1994, and they've probably been in the public mind since 1996/98 (ATLiens and Aquemini had big followings) if not 2000 (Stankonia is when they blew up)
opinions...?
It's an abysmal cover. They took a good Who song and turned into some terrible Staind song with a Speak-N-Spell in the chorus. |
ok, I have just never heard of them before that hit :-/
|
ok, I have just never heard of them before that hit :-/
You haven't even heard "Ms. Jackson"? |
The first Outkast Song I ever heard was Ms Jackson, I think It was when I was in grade five, I loved that song, but so did everybody else.
|
The Roots, A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul or OutKast for me. I really enjoy that fusion of Jazz and Rap I think A Tribe Called Quest takes it for me. I'm still a rap n00b so I'm sure there will be more rap that I enjoy. I just have to find it.

I don't.. recall.... it

I had just gotten in trouble for having all these parental advisory CD's, but I wanted more rap.
I remember buying Southernplayalisticadillacsouthernmuzik (Outkasts first album) only because their was no parental advisory on it. It turned out to be just as dirty as the other CD's I got in trouble for, but without the label. I loved that album, and still do. |

B.O.B. was my absolute favorite song off that album, if not my favorite OutKast song period. Even if Aquemini is still my favorite album by them. |

I've never actually heard the entire album (that was before I as a huge music fan, and I didn't own anything other than a couple of hootie and the blow fish tapes I listened to when I was little) but I remember everyone singing it in the schoolyard. |
Why are most teenagers these days scared of liking other genres?
|
I don't know, it seems alot of people these days stick to one genre and put everyother genre down
|
I like Public Enemy and A Tribe Called Quest the most...Outkast are pretty good, but really poppish sometimes.

Probably because it goes against their black and white views, and firmly held beliefs which they use to ridicule those who are different while exulting themselves as the cool ones. It is their pedestal above the masses. You see if they were ever to admit to themsleves they liked other genres they would have to step down of their pathetic soapbox of laughable accomplishments and mindnunbingly dumb thoughts and admit to themselves that they truly are just another man in the crowd. |

Pretty much what this guy said. ^ The sad thing is that, it's mostly true np: rush-2112 |
Why are most teenagers these days scared of liking other genres?
Because they don't understand the concept of the grey area. They are very pundit-like in that they tend to pass judgement on something very quickly. |
I find however that in much the same way people are afraid of liking other genres many people are afraid of not liking other genres. 'Eclectic' has become their genre and they think they've got the right one just like everyone else. There's nothing wrong with not liking more than one genre.

I agree with RockandRoll. |
He's not strange at all. How many replies do we get that bare a striking resemblense to this one.^
1. I love Classic Rock 2. I like Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Pink Floyd...etc 3. I hate all this "rap crap" modern music....etc 4. I'm 13, 14 or 15 and I think I'm pretty original. Sound familer? They're all (usually) extremly close minded and ignorant that give (open minded) Classic Rock fans a negative image.
haha yea all the time. same guy that you see in halls with a led zeppelin shirt saying "yea i love that guy" |

Back in the ol' days of the thread whenever it would slow down for a day or two some idiot would come on going "omg guys liek dis tread is totaly going to dy soon o noeessss!" and as the regulars we'd have to tell them to shut up and go away, and that the threads not about to die. /Random memory
I agree with RockandRoll. It's not they're posers because (extremly rare but) they could be fans as big as you and me (NOT Zeppelin but Classic Rock) it's that they're close minded and I think they're just trying to act cool by saying it. It really annoys me. |
I can't stand when people say "omfg eye saw a kid whereing a lead zepplen shert today but eye think they r just teh posers!!!11!!". Until you have proof that they don't know who they are or have only hear Stairway, be quiet. Actually, even if they don't really like them, who cares?
