That conecert sounds killer Huber.

Does anyone knows if Tool plays Reflection live?

Statutory Ape 09-08-2006 05:12 PM

Tool fans are pretentious. I enjoy Tool, but I refuse to worship them like you fanboi's. It's rediculous, you would bathe in Maynard's piss while touching yourself to Stinkfist if given the chance. Tool is nothing special, Adam Jones is a mediocre guitarist, Justin Chancellor is the same. Danny Carey is an amazing drummer, but nothing more. And Maynard, while he does have some amazing pipes he seems like a diva; just a bit too full of himself.

One could only wish. Unfortunetly they don't play great songs like D/R/T, Intension, The Grudge, Ticks and Leeches etc. Very often. Mainly becuase of the Tool fans that have barely scratched the surface and only know songs like 46 and 2, Stinkfist, and Vicarious(which is possibly the worst Tool song created)

It's clear you're the retard here. No one on this thread would go to any lengths you just mentioned, or anywhere near.

Adam Jones is average at guitar, true, Justin is a GOOD bassist, and Danny is an AWESOME drummer. Maynard's voice is also very, very good, and I honestly don't see what his personality has to do with anything, tbh. All in all, they're a great band, one of my favourites, even though I don't listen to them all that much anymore.

Also, Vicarious is like the 3rd best song on the new album behind The Pot and 10,000 Days. The other songs are all pretty mediocre in various ways, tbh.

Kage 09-08-2006 05:31 PM

I'm about as far away from a Tool fanboy as you get. I like their music.

Pretentious of me, eh?

repcak 09-08-2006 05:42 PM

i like their music only, too.

i had a time when i read a lot and "tried" to "understand" them... to worship them a little bit, and so on. read interviews etc. but after some weeks i stopped. i prefer the music and i worship other personalities like trent reznor (not as much as one year ago, meanwhile i hardly listen to his music) and CoB but recently i try to discover other awesome bands with great musicians;

This is when it the conversation becomes condescending. I was being facetious, you'll learn big scary words like that when you get out of high school. See, I know no one would go to these lengths, but my friend, I was trying to make a point. Some people(maybe not you) seem to think Tool is from another planet, gods, deities. They're nothing special.

Vicarious is a joke of a song, rehashed, not to mention oh so cliche Tool material, but hey, if that's what gets you off kudos. Good luck with that, I don't feel much like arguing as of now.

You'll find very few of the regulars in this thread regard Tool with any more esteem than just being a good band. And, yes, 10,000 Days is derivative, but they do their own formula better than they ever have, so I'm happy with it.

I agree with you that Tool gets way too much undeserved praise from fanboys.

So, let me get this straight. You are upset because Tool fans like songs from the band Tool?

Hmm, more anger towards Tool fans for liking them...
Tool is nothing special? Your ignorance intrigues me.

Your facetiousness doesn't fool anyone here. You're being serious with your ignorant rant about how you hate Vicarious, and Tool fans for liking songs you think are docile.
Vicarious is a joke of a song, rehashed, not to mention oh so cliche Tool material, but hey, if that's what gets you off kudos. Good luck with that, I don't feel much like arguing as of now.
I see nothing wrong with Vicarious or the way it was written and produced. I also can't see how you depict it as a cliche, when obviously it isn't.
People like you that are totally lost when it comes to what Tool try to do each album and music theory in general are a cancer to the industry, both on the internet and off. I hope someday you will see why music is music and learn that your ignorance tonight has been noticed by thousands.

Thanks.

Thats not even music when it comes to that thats just like going hey I wanna show how lame i am that i only know one riff.

They played The Grudge at every show on the Lateralus tour and it was the opening song and the also frequently had D/R/T in their setlist on that tour aswell. DIP**** MAN you thought wrong.

Maybe next time.

While I'll agree that there are plenty of Tool fanboys, I think there is an overreaction to them in general. Whenever fanboy comes up people immediately seem to gravitate to Tool fans. On the forums at least, it's like Led Zeppelin/Jimmy Page fanboys. Everyone always says they are everywhere, but in fact almost none of the regulars on the forum are what we would call fanboys. The fanboyism tends to come from people that don't post very much/don't know very much.

Even if you were fanboy, that done tie into pretense at all.

The word pretentious has been thoroughly raped and twisted to basically mean 'anything to do with prog or indie music.'

Anyways, I don't bathe in piss.

If you want to hear an awesome satire regarding Tool and all their idiosyncracies, google "81st Chakra." Brilliant parody.

Futuro 09-09-2006 01:19 AM

TBH Tool is pretty lame. Wow look at me I can play in an odd meter, woooow so impressive.

In other news Adam Jones and Terry Bozzio are doing a project together :O

Its in a decibal magazine my friend showed me. Adam jones talks about running into Richard simmons and getting his picture taken in the same article.

Edit:

K found that too^ Apparently him and robert fripp are doing something too.

Huber 09-09-2006 01:46 AM

Wow, Adam's gunna be busy.

BTW, something I forgot to mention about the show I went to. We all know they play an extended version of Stinkfist, but at the shows you guys have seen was Adam's solo during the extension a bit more, like, flashy and cool? I noticed it at the show and never noticed it
when watching the videos.

I got bored enough to figure out the setlist for my show. It went like this, I think.

Stinkfist (extended)
The Pot
Forty-six & 2
Jambi
Schism (little extension in the interlude where DC pwns drums)
Rosetta Stoned
Right in Two
Wings for Marie
10,000 Days
Lateralus
Vicarious
Aenema
