That's really cool, I'm going to have to check that out if I can. It'll probably be on youtube within the day anyway.

Hang on, it's the 18th today...it's already been on.

heavy metal kid 06-17-2006 11:04 PM

MRDuCran 06-17-2006 11:13 PM

Oh, so it's not on the 14th. Hmm. I'll keep an eye out.

MRDuCran 06-17-2006 11:20 PM

Hopefully it sounds ok.

stupid_n00b84 06-18-2006 01:50 AM

There is a sickening amount of pages for this thread, as big of a Metallica fan I am, I'm not even gonna bother to try read it.

Chu 06-18-2006 01:56 AM

There are a few people here who have read it all.
So, Metallica are lending their voices again, now for a Cartoon Network show .

James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett will be featured on the Cartoon Network series Metalocalypse.
Metallica stars James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett have formed a cartoon band for a new TV show.

The rockers have voiced characters for the upcoming Cartoon Network series Metalocalypse, which follows the exploits of a Norwegian heavy metal band called Dethklok.

Other voices are provided by members of Nevermore and Arch Enemy.

Nothing really important, but i thought you might want to know.
Haha awesome!
I can't wait.

timmySmi 06-18-2006 06:48 AM
I like Mama Said, hell i like the whole Load album, with the exception of Cure.
I love the cure, it's the only Metallica song with Slap in it.

That sounds quality, would never have imagined them doing that!
I'm not sure rushing's the right word.
Well, maybe not rushing, but eager to get a new album out.

It's pretty good so far. Keep at it :thumb:

One tempo problem though, don't bars 19 - 34 go faster? You're on track with the drums (they sound good) but it seems as if the guitars go faster than that.
Well, maybe not rushing, but eager to get a new album out.
Well I hope it comes out soon enough so that tickets go on sale between this July and next July because I'm getting a MetClub membership for my birthday.

The TV show sounds cool. What's it called and when does it air?

hey now that's some really interesting news! never thought they would do this

Jev 06-18-2006 11:11 AM

Nevermore and Arch Enemy sound a bit too scary for a kids show

I'm not really sure, I was going for the correct notes at first.

I'm listening to it now, and it does actually sound a bit slow.

Try putting it to about 97-100bpm and it sounds more like it.

I don't know if you know, but you can press F10 and change the tempo of the song from bar 19 onwards.

I'd say the drums were probably nearly perfect, I'm a drummer myself too so I can easily tell what's going on.

I can't really make out whats going on during the verse, I might continue but I might not, I only really wanted to do that first part.

Jev 06-18-2006 04:43 PM

That transcription sounds pretty good so far.
I don't think it's slow, just there's something not right about the F to G# bit in the main riff.

MRDuCran 06-18-2006 05:03 PM

Which bit exactly...?

I always label notes as if they were in standard tuning, so even if the tuning was DGCFAD, I'd still say the 1st fret on the 6th string, was F.

Jev 06-18-2006 05:05 PM

The 8th and 9th notes in bar 19 onwards.
I may be wrong but that sounds a bit off to me, not notes wise but note duration wise.

MRDuCran 06-18-2006 05:07 PM

Um, what do you think it should be??

Joe 06-19-2006 06:56 AM

Check out the video (http://youtube.com/watch?v=-crxUFvZWso&search=Metallica%20New%20Song) one more time. I think it sounds pretty right to me. The drumming is perfect, but yea change bars 19 and onward to 97 and it sounds pretty good

Jev 06-20-2006 10:51 AM

I can't figure it out I'm not that good :p

So what about trying to record a song again?

Sadbutrue16 06-20-2006 02:03 PM

lol this is funny...heres for the show you all were talkin about http://thethoseguys.blogspot.com/2006/04/metalocalypse.html

'We will make everything metal!'

Heh, I'll probably end up enjoying that more than the new album :-p

Jev 06-21-2006 01:46 AM

Man that show looks ace.

I refl'd when that guy put his head through the glass to get the sausages...

But I didn't hear Kirk and James?

.:Thrasher:. 06-21-2006 08:55 AM

Metallica are awsome. I have a feeling there new album is going to rule but i just hope money doesent blind them.........Again!but from what i heard from there new song, it aint that bad so I hope this album does well.

exup 06-21-2006 09:48 AM

I saw them live last 8th of june, great show..pretty faultless played

Britton 06-21-2006 09:50 AM

I'm interested in knowing how this works....

They "cranking out 3 songs a week"

they expect the album to be out in "07"

how does that work? are they gonna have 176 songs and then pick ten? what's the deal guys?

Kyle 06-21-2006 09:52 AM

nope, 176 song epic I think.

MRDuCran 06-21-2006 10:03 AM

That'd be awesome.

Kyle 06-21-2006 10:12 AM

Nah, I can't even handle double albums

Squirrel 06-21-2006 10:14 AM

none of the '3 songs a day' may be any good

then they have to be altered

then they need lyrics, solos, ideas

and practised then recorded

then mixed mastered and produced

etc

Kyle 06-21-2006 10:18 AM

Yeah, I imagine it's like 3 riff ideas a day, that they give serious consideration.

PepsiMetal 06-21-2006 12:24 PM

So any new metallica songs? Did they play any others in the latest concerts?

Sadbutrue16 06-21-2006 01:06 PM
Man that show looks ace.

I refl'd when that guy put his head through the glass to get the sausages...

But I didn't hear Kirk and James?
I think Kirk an James arent the starts of the show..there just like special guest voices probably on lesser characters....im totaly guessing on this but thats what i think.... some reason i cant picture there voices on every single episode...

heavy metal kid 06-21-2006 02:58 PM
nope, 176 song epic I think.
176 songs are grind, not epic :p

I didn't hear James or Kirk's voice neither, but the sausage scene was great.

playguitar 06-21-2006 03:36 PM

Has anyone seen the Metallica show in Quebec in 86'? ****ing flawless, James' voice is perfect.

MRDuCran 06-21-2006 05:29 PM
Yeah, I imagine it's like 3 riff ideas a day, that they give serious consideration.
It's easily possible that they were exaggerating when they said 3 songs a day.
Maybe you did here and there and as you say, just 3 riffs or something but it's still only going to be around 10 songs. Considering the word "epic" has been used alot lately to descibe the new song, maybe they have a billion riffs in one, which would be cool.

However I'm not convinced Metallica could make a solid enough record, that will please me all the way through anymore, so I'd rather have a few more songs.

MRDuCran 06-21-2006 06:08 PM

I'd say 10 was around average for an album. Anything more is a bonus really.

But the statements made must make you think it's going to be quite long. Actually thinking about it, it could hit 13-15 like the Load/Reload albums. They said they had loads of material for those and ended up scrapping a bit of it.

heavy metal kid 06-21-2006 06:21 PM

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=53847

according to James and Blabbermouth, they have more than 15 cd's full of riffs(aka basis songs).

MRDuCran 06-21-2006 06:35 PM

Holy shit, 15 cds!!

It says the new album is out early autumn of 2007, that's like October!! Over a year...
