I was when they did that at Download Festival. :D
you make me sad

Jev 06-16-2006 10:57 AM

Don't worry, we can catch it on the 50th anniversary I'm sure.

MRDuCran 06-16-2006 11:16 AM
Me too.

I kinda think 4 years is a little too long between each album.

EDIT: to Britton.
Yeah I agree, early 2007 is still at least 6 months away, that's half a freakin' year.

Jev 06-16-2006 11:35 AM

Maybe it shows how they struggle to write music nowadays.

how old are they then? as old as the rolling stones now? i can't imagine they will still be able to play battery that fast

I think people that are paid to make music can make more then 10 songs every four years

Well I think they're all around 43 or there about. So in another 30 years they'll be about 73.

It might happen.

MRDuCran 06-16-2006 11:49 AM

That'd be amazing, a 70 year old playing Battery and down picking Master of Puppets.

repcak 06-16-2006 11:50 AM

after all the drugs/alcohol they have done... impossible

thetrickedoutfernandez 06-16-2006 11:56 AM

so i dont know if this has been covered yet but i found a live video of them performing a song off their upcoming album it seems a little more hopeful than st. anger due to the fact of a gutiar solo appearing in the song which impressed me and once again another 8 minute song nothign wrong with that though. but yeah just tell me what your thoughts on it is. Jev 06-16-2006 11:56 AM

Yeah this was posted last week.
It's pretty good, definitely an improvement.

For Rob maybe not, he seems clean.

I'm hearing Load right now, Ain't my Bitch is awesome, too bad many people don't even bother to give it a shot.

Jev 06-16-2006 01:02 PM

I hate that song.
It's just so... bland.

Sadbutrue16 06-16-2006 01:28 PM

I like King Nothing a lot.

Jev 06-16-2006 01:32 PM

I like the intro.

MRDuCran 06-16-2006 04:32 PM

I can listen to pretty much every Metallica song really, I've listened to them so much in one year, I like them all, except for their Motorhead covers n shizzle.

Sadbutrue16 06-16-2006 05:00 PM

hey i want to make a bunch of diff metallica mix cd's...mostly becuase im bored... like ima make one with there fast stuff there ballads there heavy ones or w/e.....but for the cd for the fast stuff i cant have all of KeA...so what do you all think is KeA's 3 fastest songs? So far my friend said Hit the Lights, Whiplash, and Metal Malisha(sp)

heavy metal kid 06-16-2006 05:14 PM

Your friend did good by chosing those songs, maybe I would add Phantom Lord instead of Whiplash.

anyone else like "mama said?"

heavy metal kid 06-16-2006 05:42 PM

I like Mama Said, hell i like the whole Load album, with the exception of Cure.

Jev 06-17-2006 09:37 AM
anyone else like "mama said?"
Mama said is probably one of my favourites on the album.

I don't get why people slate it so much.

Kyle 06-17-2006 10:02 AM
I kinda think 4 years is a little too long between each album.
I don't really think about a length of time being 'too long', to make an album. I mean it's not as if a band like Metallica owe us anything (we probably owe them!), so if they wanted to take some time off with the family, or just slow down a bit, then I think we have to respect that. With that said, I'm really looking forward to the new album, but I can wait another year.

Jev 06-17-2006 11:17 AM

Maybe but the guys said they've been writing new songs since what - the tours in '04.

Kyle 06-17-2006 11:35 AM

Yeah, but this is probably the most important album they've ever made, seeing as St Anger recieved mass criticism, if the new album bombs, then they may never gain their respect back.

Jev 06-17-2006 11:42 AM

If that's true then they're kinda going against the "we do what we want and what others think doesn't mean anything" attitude they have.

Kyle 06-17-2006 11:52 AM

Yeah they might say that, but I seriously think they were affected by the poor response to St Anger. Often in interviews you hear them say 'We needed to get that anger ous of our system', I might be reading to much into it, but that sounds almost condescending toward the album to me. It's like they wouldn't have written the album if they wern't angry at the time, and because they were, they couldn't write the music they would prefer to write.

That's just the way I look at it, it's probably quite innacurate to be honest. I know they probably write music for themseles at the end of the idea, but I can't help but think they regret making St Anger slightly. They don't regret the process and how it helped move them on as people, but maybe the album itself.
amen

can someone suggest more songs from metallica that are decent besides

master of puppets
fade to black
the one
enter sandman
the unforgivin

i know there is more, those are just the ones im familiar with:)
I like the "Reload" album, w/ fuel and the memory remains.

MRDuCran 06-17-2006 12:50 PM

I was listening to that new song again last night, and I could definately hear some St. Anger in it. Like when the drums properly come in, it's got that groove that makes James do that dance he did in the St. Anger rehearsals DVD. And then that riff after sounds like something off of it too, the drums just play bass snare bass snare. I actually think Triviums new song sounds more like Metallica than Metallica.

I really like the intro off it, especially the drums. I can't actually remember the rest of it.

Jev 06-17-2006 01:11 PM

I think it sounds a little too Metallica. ;)

MRDuCran 06-17-2006 01:19 PM

Yeah definately, everything about it reminded me of something off Puppets.

But I'm watching the New Song AGAIN, and I really like that half time part. And I can hear Load in there too, regardless, I like it.

Jev 06-17-2006 01:44 PM

I think it's one of their best songs since the black album.

Kyle 06-17-2006 01:50 PM

I think it's really good, but I really loved Load and Reload, so I couldn't say that. Load/re-load is my second favorite era of the band, after RTL/MOP.

I agree with you there totally. They haven't played any St Anger songs in their little tour this year and you're right, they put the album down to 'how they felt at the time'.
Also, Metallica began working on the new album pretty much straight after the St Anger tour, almost as if they're rushing to get a new album out to take St Anger's place. The New Song sounds like St Anger + ReLoad and maybe a teeny bit of Black Album. Can't wait for the new album.

naboo 06-17-2006 03:37 PM

Who ever is uploading all of this Al Di Meola - good choices! Elegant Gypsy and Casino are two of my favorite albums. Amazing music.

MRDuCran 06-17-2006 03:52 PM

Wrong thread?

I'm not sure rushing's the right word.

gotta love Metallica:thumb:

So, Metallica are lending their voices again, now for a Cartoon Network show .

James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett will be featured on the Cartoon Network series Metalocalypse.
Metallica stars James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett have formed a cartoon band for a new TV show.

The rockers have voiced characters for the upcoming Cartoon Network series Metalocalypse, which follows the exploits of a Norwegian heavy metal band called Dethklok.

Other voices are provided by members of Nevermore and Arch Enemy.

Nothing really important, but i thought you might want to know.
