A Chapman Stick. Check out www.stick.com

You can download demonstration videos and everything, it's a good site. The only disadvantage is that you'll come away wanting one.
'Sup thread.

Just returned from a haircut/coloring. I was waiting in the queue at a coffee shop, glanced up at the mirror and completely failed to recognise myself.

So it served its purpose completely :D
What colour?

Thanks, I'll check it out.

But are they guitars or basses? Or both?

Iron Man 03-05-2005 08:57 AM

Hello everyone

Reputation = gone? :confused:

Bartender 03-05-2005 09:01 AM

I think you can get a Stick, Stick Bass, and Grand Stick. Malone plays a Grand Stick, I think.

I think they can be a combination of both, or either individually, depending on which you buy. They're played by tapping, with both hands at once, which means your hands are "equal partners in making music". With a 12-string Grand Stick, two sets of six strings can be processed individually, essentially meaning the player can play rhythm and solo at the same time. Check the demo videos up for download there; there's two of them, I think, both featuring Greg Howard being really cool.

EDIT: actually, I'll yousendit them for you, if it'll be quicker.

Oops, I see.

Even though I had 9000 rep somehow, I'm glad the system changed. People with 200 posts were already in 4 digit reputations because people were like "Oh, you have the same eye color as me? Here;s 400 rep for you!" ect.

Of course, I can't say I didn't do the same every once in a while, but I think the change is for the better :)

Simple Man 03-05-2005 09:06 AM

Eventually, It will probably get the way it used to be.

With only mods repping, and if they switch to repping less often (only for really important posts/threads) then hopefully that won't happen anytime soon.
Once those users achieve an MX Elite level of reputation, they can give reputation points as well.
As soon as this happens it will slowly do the same as it did last time.

I doubt that will happen.

Mods will be giving it only to responsible users of the forum, whom will most likely be responsible with the rep system.

Simple Man 03-05-2005 09:33 AM

Yeah, I see your point there.

It's easy. All you need to do is select which file to upload and then copy and paste the given link.
As soon as this happens it will slowly do the same as it did last time.
I'm going to have to disagree. In order to become "Elite," you're going to need multiple mod reps in order to get there. Also, the mods are seemingly intelligent people, and they have a general idea of who makes good posts and who makes bad ones. The question, I guess, is what constitutes a mod-rep-worthy post? Is it a good threadstarting? Is it writing an essay on a band's evolution? For example, if I start a series entitled "Bands in the Spotlight (or something to that effect)" and write an extensive, detailed essay chronicling the band's existence, is that going to be noteworthy?

Can you get reps by making a witty comment? Doubtful. Will you get repped for helping in the Site forum / Report Problems threads? Maybe, but unlikely. Can mods neg rep? I don't know. I also think it's extremely unlikely that mods would rep in a spam thread or a community thread.

Again, I think the mods have a general idea of who makes good threads and who doesn't, so they'll slowly attribute points to these users. It is then those users' responsibilities to NOT abuse those points and give them to awful users.

I think this new method is under control and a good start, I highly doubt that it was going to be abused like the last one.

And this is coming from the user who had the highest non-mod rep (23,607) :p

Anyways, does anyone agree or disagree? Answers to the questions are appreciated.

And how is everyone else doing?

/I agree

ATM 03-05-2005 10:45 AM

I agree with AH, this is a better rep system.

munky_magik 03-05-2005 10:46 AM

I think the only concern is that as some normal users gain 'elite' status that they will start to rep their frinds for the sake of it, not because of valuable contributions.
