Led Zeppelin- Zoso (or II)
Zoso is IV, and I agree with all those. Maybe a Who album, like Tommy, or Who's Next. Nothing but good ol' rock and roll, if that's all you're looking for.
My Dead collection isn't so much a collection than just their two highest rated albums but hippy posers.
I really can't stand any of their other material but that doesn't take away the greatness from those 2 albums. I've tried to get into the Dead but I just don't care for it. I have Wake of the Flood, Aoamoxoa (sp?), s/t, American Beauty, Live/Dead, Skull & Roses and Workingmans Dead and it leads to the question "Why in the hell do I have so many of their albums?" but I honestly cannot tell you why. :-/

Went shrooming today triped hard but I am now really sick. :upset:

Woodstock 07-23-2005 07:51 PM

I found a nice music review site.

As for the essential albums...

Neil Young - Harvest Moon
Cream - Wheels Of Fire
The Who - Quadrophenia
Bob Dylan - Blonde On Blonde
MC5 - Kick Out The Jams

Just a few that popped into me head.

np: Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower

wanton 07-23-2005 09:31 PM

Badmoon,

Can you upload "Praskovia" by Calexico? Convict Pool was missing that song when you uploaded it.
Finally someone other than Livewired and I who considers Harvest Moon an essential album.

(I don't even think livewired does, but I do, and he's the other major neil young whore around here)

Lunch 07-23-2005 09:55 PM

Other essential albums:
Dylan - Highway 61 of Blood On the Tracks
The Who - Tommy or Live at Leeds
Allmans - Eat a Peach.

jpj 07-23-2005 09:59 PM

Grateful Dead-Workingman's Dead
Pink Floyd-DSotM, WYWH
David Bowie-The Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders from Mars
The Rolling Stones-Sticky Fingers

That's all I got for now.

Thread = Dead

Why has this thread been so dead lately?
Finally someone other than Livewired and I who considers Harvest Moon an essential album.

Perhaps people are listening to new music...?

Or perhaps they have got a life? :p

NP: Children of Bodom - Black Widow
---
Have you guys heard of Love? Ive heard some songs of theirs - they're very good.

Lunch 07-24-2005 07:07 AM

Most people here have Forever Changes, great album.

superpeer 07-24-2005 10:36 AM

So, I just saw Dr. feelgood live, any fans?

Badmoon 07-24-2005 10:39 AM

I've heard some stuff by them, but they're pretty obscure in some cases; it's been hard for me to find anything by them.

How were they? :)

I don't have it myself, but when I get my last pay cheque next weekend, I'm buying some CDs, and hopefully I can find that.

Anyone listen to Nazareth?

Harvest Moon < On the Beach < Harvest < After the Goldrush

IMO of course :D

magicbus 07-24-2005 02:07 PM

I like Harvest the best. Acoustic Neil is my favorite Neil.

I couldn't agree more. The Needle and the Damage Done is a treat to the ears everytime.

BludgeonySteve 07-24-2005 02:56 PM

His electric stuff was good too. Like a Hurricane, Rockin' in the Free World, everything off of Ragged Glory, Crime in the city, Down by the river, Alabama, Southern Man...

I love Down By The River, such a beautiful melody. If all goes right, I'm buying a Neil Young album, along with Sgt. Peppers today.

np: Hendrix - Voodoo Chile. I'm getting into Electric Ladyland.

Walrus Gumboot 07-24-2005 05:09 PM

My favorite Neil is the stuff he did like Live Rust/Weld, you know, the songs he always plays live, like Hey Hey My My, Rockin in The Free World, Cinnamin Girl, Cortez, and of course, Like a Hurricane, which is my favoriete at the moment

I love his Country side as well, but I tend to think of Country Neil and Grunge Neil as completely different people

BludgeonySteve 07-24-2005 05:13 PM

Neil Young is so diverse :)

robo2448 07-24-2005 05:43 PM

I'm definitely getting some more Neil Young next time I go to buy CDs.

ATM 07-24-2005 05:57 PM

My dad and I are really into Neil Young.

I got one of his albums for free a week ago

The one with Cowgirl in the Sand on it.
The one with Cowgirl in the Sand on it.
Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere

I found that in some woman's car that my Dad was working on (He's a car dealer) along with Abbey Rd., few Django Reinhardt Anthologies and A milk- crate full of Bob Dylan (I only took Bringing It All Back Home)

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 07-24-2005 06:14 PM

Stealer^

How come nobody talks about On the Beach? I think it's his best for sure. It has great lyrics along with great music. "Vampire Blues" and "Revolution Blues" are my favorite Neil Young songs.

ATM 07-24-2005 06:14 PM

I've got that album.

Those are some cool songs.

Did you ever find the new Dandy Warhols?

IAJP 07-24-2005 06:16 PM

I know you're all blues fans here, so why not a bit of Shameless, self promotion. It never did anybody any harm.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 07-24-2005 06:19 PM

No, I haven't heard of anyone else that has it. :-/

I'll search Soulseek. Speaking of Soulseek who has it and if so what's your user name?

Soulseek: Gloomy Shroomy

IAJP 07-24-2005 06:22 PM

Eh,
I used to love Soulseek, my speed was never that constant on it unfortunatley.

I recently got Ares. A much better, and thourough P2P. I don't think the authorities are onto this one yet either, so it's better.

If you're going to download it, don't download the add in pack, I think it's spy ware...but anyway, a cool P2P.

ATM 07-24-2005 06:25 PM

Limewire works good for me.

I'm trying to cut back on downloading so much, though.

QuentinB 07-24-2005 06:38 PM

yeah, classic rock is basically awesome. big clapton fan. i dunno, i also like rock/hard rock, like ac/dc, GnR, Van Halen, and a few hair bands. all are better than this new crap blasting out of peoples stereos. yeah. fourteen and i like all that. pretty strange.
