does possessed count as death metal?
to a certain extent. some actually consider them as the first band to release a death metal album. personally, i think they are a bit too thrashy to be considered the "first", but that's just me. other's feel differently, but some also agree.

but the only thing that really matters is they are fucking good. so who cares if they are considered death metal or thrash metal or a hybrid of the two. they fuckin pwn. that's all that matters.

Si1v3RfaNg 06-27-2009 09:47 PM

What is THE best death metal album guys? I need some REALLY elite DM right now... so something INCREDIBLY good please.

Mental Funeral by Autopsy. 'nuff said.

runner's up:

Morbid Angel - Altars of Madness
Death - Leprosy
Incantation - Mortal Throne of Nazarene
Autopsy - Severed Survival
Carcass - Necroticism: Descanting the Insalubrious

iamtherobots 06-27-2009 10:12 PM

mental funeral is krieg

Tyler 06-27-2009 10:12 PM

I still prefer Severed Survival.

Nosferatu 06-27-2009 10:16 PM
what other death metal have you heard?
looking through my collection that I have listened to, Arghoslent, Dead Congregation, Impaler, Decapitated, Lykathea Aflame, Eucharist, Stargazer & Death.

As Nosferatu pointed out the thrash side on Seven Churches is quite prominent, and some of bands I listed are melodic and tech death.
they ****in pwn. that's all that matters.
Seven Churches is great, no doubt. Haven't heard any of their other stuff though, should get on that.

Nostalgia 06-28-2009 01:42 AM
