ive been saying for a long time people don't like St. Anger becuase its lame compared to their older stuff. St. Anger is a good album for what it is.

Tyler 06-07-2006 05:13 PM

Is there a video of him playing Orion?

Lionheart1827 06-07-2006 05:14 PM
Is there a video of him playing Orion?
I have the rip of the live stream in high quality of the entire show. It's 400mb and in realplayer format.:smoke:

MRDuCran 06-07-2006 05:21 PM
No its just that jasons version of the little section they rarely played live was boring awhile rob's was more true to the original, plus they played the whole song.:thumb:
Eh, I can kinda understand. It's just weird that soo many people got excited about the Orion bass section, but noone really cares if Kirk plays the Fade to Black solo differently or something.

I know some people say that doing it exactly like the record is boring 'cause you've already heard it that way a billion times, and live is better. And others say that studio is better cause they play a more structured, thought out solo, instead of just pentatonic wankage. I'm not specifically talking about Metallica, just that situation in general.

I did like it when he played Kirk's last solo on bass though, that was unexpected and cool. He did a good job on that, and I'm liking the facial hair.

Actually, that's the original bass solo.

People confuse the bass interlude with a solo, and confuse the bass solo with a guitar solo.

MRDuCran 06-07-2006 06:34 PM

Well I'm pretty sure it's a guitar solo on MoP but I'll watch it again.

Fukk, they've taken it down.

heavy metal kid 06-07-2006 06:36 PM

oh sorry, my mistake, i thought you were talking about Orion.

MRDuCran 06-07-2006 06:40 PM

I was, I meant the part I'm talking about is a guitar solo on the Mop, the album version. The only reason I'm so sure is that I've played that solo on guitar loads of times and I recognised it, and then saw Rob playing it. At least I THINK I heard correctly, I only watched it once.

heavy metal kid 06-07-2006 06:59 PM

From 6:33 to 6:45 is pure bass soloing, from 6:45 to 6:55 is bass soloing+guitar.

MRDuCran 06-07-2006 07:28 PM

Link?

I tryed the one on the other page and they've taken it down.

Unless you're talking about the album version.

MRDuCran 06-07-2006 07:50 PM

Ok on the live version, it's the bit at 6:12. I swear that's a guitar solo on the album.

MRDuCran 06-07-2006 08:15 PM

Me and my buds were actually planning on flying to London (from California) too see Download this year. That would have been so fun. Unfortunately, it gets in the way of our graduation.

No it is cliff trust me I can see how people get confused since his Wah sound is very similiar to that of an electric guitar wah

pandoraa 06-08-2006 06:24 AM

who has heard the new song? opinion's?

Skit 06-08-2006 06:40 AM

Yep its cliff at around 6.35 (album) playing the solo.
He also plays the intro and a lead part about a minuite after, and of course the interlude.

Kyle 06-08-2006 07:15 AM
who has heard the new song? opinion's?
we talked about it quite a lot a few pages back, so look there. But I really quite like it now, despite the poor vocal melody.

ville-valo666 06-08-2006 07:30 AM

St. anger was the worst album metallica ever made i think, when they made load they started going downhill from their.

Britton 06-08-2006 08:18 AM

OH god

Kirk has a frickin ugly car!

But James' Bike is worse

http://www.encycmet.com/news/2006-05-10b.shtml

Am I understanding that there has been a song leaked?

Kyle 06-08-2006 08:23 AM

Hetfields Bike > Kirk's car
http://www.metworld.de/newdesign/start.html
There's a link on there for a decent quality mp3 of the new track.
The password is www.metallica-world.de
Heres the link from a few pages back, not sure if it still works though.

Joe 06-08-2006 02:08 PM

It's Orion. The last solo in the "soft" part is bass.

Hideous.

They're obviously enjoying their mid life crises.

Oh and it is a bass solo. I think it says so in the official tab book.
I play it on guitar anyway.

video of the new song, sounds like a garage band of 12 year olds IMO

Jev 06-08-2006 03:55 PM

It's just a poor recording.

Sadbutrue16 06-08-2006 04:57 PM

Probably off a cell phone

Jev 06-08-2006 05:02 PM

Nah it's not that bad.
we talked about it quite a lot a few pages back, so look there. But I really quite like it now, despite the poor vocal melody.
sorry didnt go looking through the 1000's of pages!

Joe 06-08-2006 08:21 PM

Actually, it's not quite 1000's. In 51 pages, you can say 1000's.

So how's it going in the Metallica world? We all just missed one of the coolest lineup's (Trivium, A7X, and Metallica) ever and we're all upset, yes, but they'll be here soon.

I want them to go on tour with Velvet Revolver, actually. Did they ever tour with Maiden?

PepsiMetal 06-08-2006 08:36 PM

It's 1949th page for me. I probably have minimum view posts per page.

Would be awesome if they toured with maiden though. 2 best bands playing same night same place.

I know.

1949+51=2000

That would be awesome. I'd love to see it. I'm pretty sure Metallica would refuse to headline, but then again I'm pretty sure it wouldn't get offered to them.

That new song is pretty cool, does it have a solo? I didn't feel like listening all that long...

Yeah if you didnt make it to the solo, you missed the instrumental part of the song.:thumb:

hmm

EDIT: i am not bashing Metallica...**** no! i liek the new song. I jsut though tthis video was interesting.

Chu 06-08-2006 11:58 PM

lol?

Everyone's jumping on the Metallica bashing bandwagon now.

heavy metal kid 06-08-2006 11:59 PM

Umm, it did sound similar to the Damage Plan song, but it isn't a rip off or something like that, the dude who made this has clearly a bad ear.

Lars is a bad drummer, point given.

Hammett abuse of his wah wah, shredders abuse of their speed, so that's a pretty bad example.(Kirk's isn't godly, but he writes good stuff)

James can't hold a note anymore, neither does Phillip Anselmo.

This was made by a Pantera/Damage Plan fanboy. If i'm wrong i would personally kick my face.

Against Miik! 06-09-2006 01:21 AM

The new song is o.k. until James starts singing. Then it got ugly. Musically its not bad, but the mans voice is shot.

Nepenthe 06-09-2006 01:25 AM

He didn't sound awful in the verses, but he sounded like *** in the choruses. And the drumming needs to be changed during the instrumental parts after the solo. Doesn't fit at all. It's not even just bad drumming by Lars, it's just off.
