I think Blood on the Tracks is the best songwriting cd ever. Every song is perfect IMO. It is a pretty depressing album for the most part, but for some reason Tangled Up in Blue always puts me in a great mood.

Yeah that's how I feel. All the songs are great. Meet Me in the Morning doesn't really fit solidly in with the rest of the songs, but I'm not saying it isn't an amazing song. Maybe just because it isn't blatently about lost love and all that stuff.

I'm going out to my cottage though. See ya guys later.

clown_phobia 07-20-2005 08:22 PM
You guys don't know me much but I'm a big fan of all Classic Rock, so here's my top 5 albums with a couple honourable mentions!

1. Led Zeppelin II
2. The Who - Who's Next
3. Cream - Wheels of Fire
4. Led Zeppelin IV
5. Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced?
HM: Led Zep - Houses of the Holy, The Doors - The Doors, The Who - Tommy, Millencolin - Same Old Tunes (probably the only pop punk band I actually like, in fact adore)
Led Zeppelin 2 and 4 are both great. I'm not a huge fan of theirs but i'd say 2 is a better album. It's my favourite album of theirs. However 4 has Stairway to heaven, on of the best songs ever.

Who's Next I don't have but I have heard song off it. Behind Blue eyes and Won't Get Fooled again are classics.

I love cream - clapton is god, as they say. Hendrix is even better - and that could b ehis best album.

The doors first album is great with some of their best songs.

Millencolin I absolutely love - I may be going to see them live soon. Pennybridge Pioneers is my favourite I havent heard same old tunes.

drugstore cowboy 07-20-2005 08:46 PM

I like AYE better than Electric Ladyland, because as someone said, it sounds a little more raw. That and Mitch Mitchell is a tank.

My unofficial top five:

Tommy (it just barely beat Who's Next)
Abbey Road
Music from Big Pink (it's new, but it's already found a place in my heart)
CSN s/t (again, just barely over Deja Vu)
Now, as the unexpected underdog...let's say...
The Rod Stewart Album

MfBP is on there because it's stuck in my head, and Rod Stewart was the first thing I saw when I opened the record cabinet, so there you go.

Glitterati 07-20-2005 08:56 PM
You don't need to remind me how perfect Blood on the Tracks is. I think it's second only to Blonde on Blonde, but I probably listen to it twice as often as Blonde on Blonde. I think Bob Dylan can write the best "love" songs out of any artist, even though most people only recognize him for his more virtuous lyrics (if you know what I mean). I couldn't even listen to Blood on the Tracks for a few months after I broke up with my girlfriend a couple years ago, that damn album kept making me cry. I know that makes me sound like a pussy, but I'm not trying to be a he-man or anything.

edit- you can't say pussy?
I don't blame you, it's a pretty emotional album.

BludgeonySteve 07-20-2005 09:12 PM

Electric Ladyland has better guitar playing, no question about it. And in my opinion it has better songwritting in general. But I guess if you like that whole messy, live and guitar went out of tune sound, the Are You Experienced album would be better.

Did you get the Dead me and Lunch uploaded? It was you who wanted it wasn't it?

BotT is my favorite Dylan album.

Badmoon 07-20-2005 09:23 PM

^Yea, I noticed you uploaded wma's, you dirtbag.

"The Man in Me" is the best Dylan song. A variety of Big Lebowski fans would agree.

Why is that so bad?

Badmoon 07-20-2005 10:00 PM

It's all 'bout MP3, I use Itunes, not WMP.

*raises the roof* :p

PinkFreud 07-20-2005 10:01 PM

i use itunes, but with m4a's usually.

wanton 07-20-2005 10:04 PM

itunes is gay along with everything else Apple makes.

WinAmp is where it's at.

Hell, yes.

I don't like WinAmp either.

M4a's truly are for faggots.

You can import WMA's into iTunes, you know that right?

:p

Edit: Beaten by Brunch :upset:

Badmoon 07-20-2005 10:09 PM

It takes time for me to convert them. Which is one reason I dislike them.

But you still get the music in the end.

PinkFreud 07-20-2005 10:17 PM

When did you see them? Did you get the Instant Live or acquire it through other means?

PinkFreud 07-20-2005 10:23 PM

common ground festival in lansing, michigan.. i bought their instant live. the sound quality is exceptional.

hot 'lanta

Drugstep 07-20-2005 10:40 PM

I listened to some songs on Eat A Peach, and they were quality tracks, but I have a five dollar greatest hits CD with most of the tracks you mentioned, and I think it's definately sub-par.

I was watching that the other day, and I thought it sounded like Dylan.

Badmoon 07-21-2005 12:50 AM

That's cause it is Dylan ;)

At first I thought it was Everclear, I still don't think that was a bad guess.

Seafroggys 07-21-2005 12:53 AM

Winamp is the best player IMO.....it takes very little RAM, I have it sitting in the background when I play games all the time. Something like Itunes would bog down the system slightly.

PinkFreud 07-21-2005 11:32 AM

I'll assume that's good.

Meningitis. Everyone around where I live who was born in certain years had to get it.

np: Wheel's on Fire - The Band

Badmoon 07-21-2005 01:34 PM

The best thing that came out of TMR was Mixmaster Wharf Rat's "Kill Whitey".

Odditorium or Warlords of Mars

robo2448 07-21-2005 04:21 PM

Morrison Hotel is an awesome album. I'm listening to Waiting For the Sun right now, I love this song. Why was this on Morrison Hotel though, instead of Waiting For the Sun?

That is so strange when the title song isn't on the album. There are others, but I can't think of any more right now

I love Queen of the Highway on that album, and Maggie McGill is just so prophetic...

clown_phobia 07-21-2005 06:41 PM

That's albums not too bad... I don't like it a whole lot...

It's not as good as LA Woman or The Doors - the latter being a real classic IMO
