I got back last night from a damn good time in California. My brother lives in Silver Lake, so we went about the area, into downtown LA, Santa Monica, Malibu, and so on. A lot of the time I was there revolved around all things music (shows, practices, recording, shopping), and this charming little photo adds to the musical theme:

What is frosh week? I've heard so much about it from friends' older siblings but I have no idea what it is exactly.
Screaming kids on a train/bus/airplane are seriously the worst thing ever.
You're telling me, that kid deserved to be strangled.

Just come back from the pub with work mates. I ate a ridiculously large burger and now feel slightly ill. Considering I would usually struggle eating something half the size of it, I'm surprised I finished it.

blah

I'm officially employed by Knotts Berry Farm.

:/

A whole week dedicated to freshmen's orientation around the campus and upperclassmen, or in my case, frosh bosses, scaring the **** out of them. Oh there's fun and games too. And tonight is pub night. woot.
Yeah, me too. Only I'm not the frosh. I'm the fucking COUNSELOR.

:angry:
You can always make up a tradition to lure in all the young and clueless frosh girls.
You can always make up a tradition to lure in all the young and clueless frosh girls.
Yeah, only I'm bound under the terms of my job not to touch them.

And not to drink, and overall not act like an idiot.

....wtf were you thinking when you volunteered.

ATM 08-31-2006 06:39 PM

What's up everyone? I leave for Florida tomorow :-D

Little Man being Erased 08-31-2006 06:43 PM

Florida is lame.

ATM 08-31-2006 06:46 PM

Eh, I'm visiting my sister. It will be nice to get away from work for a few days.

The Great Decay 08-31-2006 06:51 PM

I went to Florida over this past march break and it was a good time.

Little Man being Erased 08-31-2006 06:57 PM

Yeah, I wouldn't really know anyway, I've only been there once and that was nearly 10 years ago. But I did go to Disney World and Universal Studios. :cool:

The Great Decay 08-31-2006 07:02 PM

I went to Disney World and I hit up Epcott and got some sweet food.

sr800bkBassist 08-31-2006 07:05 PM

Florida's nice. i lived there for 4 years when i was younger. i wouldn't want to live there now though. maybe visit, but not live.

ATM 08-31-2006 07:09 PM

I'm just going to be relaxing. And getting drunk as hell at night.

Little Man being Erased 08-31-2006 07:25 PM

Florida's where old people go to die.

sr800bkBassist 08-31-2006 07:26 PM

and where Cubans go to sell coke.

Little Man being Erased 08-31-2006 07:38 PM

Ah, all the pieces are falling into place.

Eliminator 08-31-2006 07:51 PM

The old people are actually decoy vessels that carry pounds and pounds of cocaine inside of them. Bet you didn't know that.

sr800bkBassist 08-31-2006 07:56 PM

so that's why so many of them turn into vases filled with powder after they die!

Luxor 08-31-2006 07:57 PM

What's a 3.0 GPA in percent?

sr800bkBassist 08-31-2006 07:58 PM
What's a 3.0 GPA in percent?
maybe 100%?
or maybe 4.0 is 100%.

well it's either 100% or 75% then.

Luxor 08-31-2006 08:00 PM

Haha, it goes up to 4.0, but I'm pretty sure it doesn't just work itself out like that.

nutty_bar 08-31-2006 08:01 PM

A 3.0 is a B average. So it is like 85% I am pretty sure.

sr800bkBassist 08-31-2006 08:03 PM

well here's where i'm getting mixed up.

is it that if you get straight A's, it's a 3.0? if so, then i would think it'd be a hundred percent. and then AP and Honors classes are what bring you above 100% (3.5, 4.0).

or is it straight A's give you a 4.0? and then Honors/AP bring you above that (4.5).

i would think that the straight A GPA (whatever it is) would be 100%.

The Great Decay 08-31-2006 08:04 PM

Why can't America's school grading system be simple, like Canada's.

Luxor 08-31-2006 08:05 PM

I figured that as well, nutty.

It's confusing stuff, I don't even know what letter grades mean anymore. I went all through elementry school and high school with percentage grades. Then when I get to college they start giving me letters and a GPA.

Eliminator 08-31-2006 08:05 PM

I thought the highest you could get was a 4.33.

Turns out, John Cage secretely runs American education.

nutty_bar 08-31-2006 08:05 PM

Straight A's are 4.0. AP classes are the only thing to bring to above that.

4 = A
3 = B
2 = C
1 = D
0 = Keep your day job

Eliminator 08-31-2006 08:06 PM

They wouldn't have a day job.
