Huh I would have thought that would have been a good combination.
You would like to think that, but Dylan isn't anywhere near his best.

Dylan's voice man. At the time (still) it was terrible.
Dylan's voice man. At the time (still) it was terrible.
Well when I say Dylan was on it I assumed the voice would be a bit off (no offence to him, his voice is nice, but hes not the best singer). Anything wrong with the instrumentals?

lunch998 04-02-2005 11:00 PM

They're solid, as you would expect, but the album as a whole seems to be lacking energy.

It can not be greater than 2 stars. Though 2 stars maybe be more than it would deserve.

Oh yea and what year do you think the classic rock era ended, and bands after are to be concidered just rock.

Hey guys i am trying to find a reply to this topic: (help me!)

I have some songs downloaded by Electric Light Orchestra and i really like them. What album would you suggest to buy and which are their "must songs"? Also in what category do they fit? I heard people saying they are prog and some others saying that they are a bit pop. Opinions/Suggestions? Thanx in advance.

The Cat Stevens and Grateful Dead were nice. I've heard that Mott the Hoople song before and didn't really care for it. I really enjoyed the Cat Stevens one though, I'd like to hear more.

Samson and Delilah is one of my favorite Dead songs. Which version of it did you post Moon?

If you have ever heard The Flaimg Lips's hit single "Fight Test", then maybe you'd notice that it was a complete rip off from "Father & Son".
Samson and Delilah is one of my favorite Dead songs. Which version of it did you post Moon?
That is the recorded version off of Terrapin Station. It is also my favorite version. :)

Do any of you like "Catfish John". That track is amazing, and it was never put onto an album! It has a fabulous combination of Reggae/Country.

Walrus Gumboot 04-03-2005 11:30 AM

Hey moon, I need a new Grateful Dead album, I have Workingman's Dead and AB, plus Shakedown St. Which isn't my favorite of the three, what do you recommend?

Badmoon 04-03-2005 11:36 AM

The one album that is highly relatable to W.D. and A.B. is Wake of the Flood. I believe that album is absolutley perfect; Each song is fantastic.

Blues for Allah is also quite good. However, it is nothing like the Grateful Dead had done. The album is Progressive. Influence of Classical, Jazz, Middle Eastern music, and Reggae are all easily seen.

Those album will probably be hard for you to get. So in that case, I recommend getting to work on their Psychedelic albums. Aoxomoxoa would be the favorite around here. Anthem of the Sun is also fantastic, but usually takes a while to get into. The s/t is also quite good.

I find it surprising how you don't like Shakedown Street. Last I recall, everyone loved it.

:)
