my tastes are probably split right down the middle when it comes to modern music and classic rock. and jazz. and funk. and what not.

jpj 07-19-2005 09:53 PM

YSI isn't working for me right now, so I might now get those up tonight.

To me i like the feel of classic rather than the feel of modern rock. whenever i listen to classic rock it brightens up my day. I dont really have a problem with modern rock im just not a fan. i also find cr much fun to play.

I'm glad you got that.

Speaking of the Coens, today I saw the Man Who Wasn't There. Definitely one of my favorite Coen movies; it's a fantastic movie.

PinkFreud 07-19-2005 10:16 PM

I keep trying to get in this album but it never does anything for me I think it's a horrible album but I'll give it yet another try anyway.

*downloads*

Badmoon: That sounds really familer is it from Raising Arizona?

Lunch 07-19-2005 10:26 PM

Just because you can't get into it doesn't make it a horrible album.

It's not a album you say "Oh I just can't into it" it's an album that had me saying "Wow, that was pretty bad!!!". Tastes have changed maybe I'll enjoy it now.

Mine tend to fall towards the classic.

Xanadu 07-19-2005 10:40 PM

same here bump modern rock

PinkFreud 07-19-2005 10:53 PM

well, i guess that all the classic rock lovers should now unite and vote for entwistle in this final bassist poll.

Lunch 07-19-2005 10:55 PM

I knew you'd see it my way.

/Glares at previous Jack Bruce voters.

PinkFreud 07-19-2005 10:56 PM

hey man, i voted for entwistle in every poll he was in. and people should follow our examples right?

Seafroggys 07-19-2005 10:58 PM
Aww..but when I came in here I was expecting a bunch of "AC/DC or Led Zeppelin n00bs". Not a bunch of guys who just genuinely like classic rock. Haven't you noticed more and more led zeppelin shirts being sold in trendy stores? It seems like classic rock is becoming a fad!
Yeah, I wrote an article about the classic rock fad in an underground newspaper at my high school last year. Its tragic when its a fad.

And AC/DC isn't that great, yet they're in the hall of fame, yet Rush and Black Sabbath aren't?

EDIT: Is there a new bass thread? **** Cliff Burton and his dead-ness. I've always voted for Entwistle, except in the first one where Bruce was in a different catagory!

Glitterati 07-19-2005 10:59 PM

I voted Entwistle on both my accounts.

Lunch 07-19-2005 10:59 PM
I voted Entwistle on both my accounts.
I think he's onto your scheme.

RockAndRoll 07-19-2005 11:04 PM

/voted Entwistle

/Just found out there was a poll now

black sabbath isnt? thats a terrible shame. and yes. vote entwistle.

Leper 07-19-2005 11:11 PM

Rush isn't??! They're by far the most internationally successful Canadian band, next to Neil Young. How unfortunate..and yes i agree with you AC/DC isn't that great

Glitterati 07-19-2005 11:35 PM
i agree with you AC/DC isn't that great
Yeah, I'm kinda over my AC/DC phase.

np: Simon & Garfunkel - Scarborough Fair Canticle

PinkFreud 07-19-2005 11:40 PM

simon and garfunkel are the cats pajamas. first concert i ever went to.

Lunch 07-19-2005 11:41 PM

They own pretty hard. As I've said, The Boxer is such a great song.

ATM 07-19-2005 11:41 PM

I'll give you anything, everything, if you want things.

PinkFreud 07-19-2005 11:43 PM

bridge over troubles water is a great vocal performance. and "april, come she will," is one of the most beautiful songs ever in my opinion.

Leper 07-19-2005 11:44 PM

do they sing Mrs. Robinson?...

Lunch 07-19-2005 11:46 PM
do they sing Mrs. Robinson?...
Yes, another great song. Bookends in general is a very good album.

Glitterati 07-19-2005 11:52 PM
simon and garfunkel are the cats pajamas. first concert i ever went to.
You saw them in concert? Luckiness++

My dad said if they ever did a reunion tour, he'd take me and my sister. That'd be great.

Leper 07-19-2005 11:53 PM

ya, the sounds of silence is amazing too. I heard that was on some crappy magazines list of the 100 worst songs ever or something. There was at least 1 well known Doors song on it too. I was offended.

PinkFreud 07-19-2005 11:58 PM

yeah, i went to their reunion concert. it was great despite being in nosebleed seats next to an enormous sweaty man.

Johnny B. Good 07-20-2005 12:01 AM

paul simon was better without garfunkel, garfunkel jsut added vocal talent nothing else

wanton 07-20-2005 12:04 AM
paul simon was better without garfunkel, garfunkel jsut added vocal talent nothing else
It seems like he had more freedom in himself to explore different types of music after he left Garfunkel. Thats why I enjoy his solo work more.

Johnny B. Good 07-20-2005 12:06 AM

paul simon was just a very talented man held back by that biznatch garfunkel

Lunch 07-20-2005 12:08 AM

You guys really don't like Garfunkel. I don't think Simon was held back that much, he still made great music with Garfunkel, and Art was great for adding the vocal harmonies that they're famous for.

PinkFreud 07-20-2005 12:08 AM

yes but i prefer garfunkels voice, so thats all that matters to me.

wanton 07-20-2005 12:11 AM

It just seemed like when he was with Garfunkel, he just did folksy/poppy songs. His solo career was much more diverse.

edit: and I don't dislike Garfunkel

Leper 07-20-2005 12:11 AM

you could say the same about lennon with that biznatch mccartney haha.
