NY is permit at 16, restricted license 6 months after you get permit (or turn 18) and full license at 17 with drivers ed, 18 without.

Walrus Gumboot 08-23-2005 09:05 PM

CT has graduated licensing, 16- pemit, 16.5 license, and after you have had your license for 6mo. you can drive with your friends (Sometimes I wish it was longer, I need an excuse not to drive with some of my friends  )

Kurtz 08-23-2005 09:07 PM

Here in California, I think it's once you turn 15 or 15 1/2 you can sign up for Driver's Ed and then take the written test to get your permit. After six months of behind-the-wheel training you can get your license.

Permanent Solution 08-23-2005 09:12 PM

I still have my license...and four tickets

ATM 08-23-2005 09:13 PM

I still have my liscense and 6 tickets

Illmatic 08-23-2005 09:14 PM

I have three tickets :-\

In Maryland you can get your permit at 15 and 9 months, then your provisional license at 16 and 1 month. After going 18 months without getting a ticket or an accident, you get the provisionals taken off.

All speeding?

ATM 08-23-2005 09:15 PM

I just got my provisionals off a few weeks ago.

See...two of mine are um...reckless driving...

RCA 08-23-2005 09:20 PM

I've got zero tickets, but I do have one large piece of scrapmetal sitting in my backyard.

Dancin' Man 08-23-2005 09:23 PM

I have no tickets, one dead car and one living car. I lie, I had one parking ticket, but here your first parking offence every 6 months is ignored. I win.

Illmatic 08-23-2005 09:24 PM

I have one for speeding, two for parking at an expired parking meter

RCA 08-23-2005 09:27 PM

We all suck at driving.

Kingofdudes 08-23-2005 09:28 PM

In Mississippi, you can get your full license by 16, you can skip the 6 month permit phase when you are 17. You can drive tractors without a license here.

I have 0 tickets.

I'm great at driving, just not driving legally.

Vince, did you download the track that I uploaded? What'd you think, if you did, and do it or die if you haven't. :)
Why would you want it in mp3 format? I'll tell you if you have a valid reason. :-D
So I can put it on a CD.

Riva 08-23-2005 09:47 PM

I have 0 tickets, but in Australia, we have three levels. Learner, Provisional and Open.

Learner is a written test only, and it is at 16 1/2 years old. You can drive, but only with an Open license holder. Provisionals is after having your L permit for at least 6 months, and then you can drive alone, or with passengers, but you must have a blood alcohol limit of 0, and you can only get two tickets (speeding, dangerous driving, etc) before you lose your license. After 3 years on your P permit, you get your Open license automatically. This entitles you teaching your children on their L permit to drive, have a blood alcohol limit of 0.05, and 7 tickets before losing your license.

Endless Obsession 08-23-2005 09:48 PM

In Ohio you can get your Temps at 15 1/2 and then 6th months after you get your temps you can get your license, unless you are 18 in which case you can just get your license.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-23-2005 09:53 PM

Washington
15.5- Learner's Permit, Drivers Ed

16- Restricted License, with completition of Drivers Ed(Can't drive passengers other than family, can't drive between 1 AM and 6 AM)

16.5 Less restricted license(Can only drive 3 passengers)

18 Drivers License

If you're a redneck and/or live in the middle of nowhere
12- Permission to drive

Jom 08-23-2005 10:19 PM

I have zero tickets in my years of driving (knock on wood).

I am incredi-drained right now, too. The entire day has been spent driving/unpacking/organizing the townhouse, and we are still not complete. Oh well, heh.

Tonight, I will sleep well. If I ever do in fact fall asleep.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-23-2005 10:39 PM

So when will you be at Uni, Jom? Is that where you're packing for?

Steerpike 08-23-2005 11:00 PM

Well, I'm settling into my first night at the new dorms.

Apparently, I got a room in one of the campus townhouses. It was supposed to be a double, but they made it a single for me. Tomorrow, a couple of staff are going to cart out to extra furniture that would have been used by a roommate. So now I have a huge space all to myself.

Though I really gotta say, the college's attempt to stay abreast of technological advancement is doing more harm than good. I spent most of the day struggling with the new security key trying to convince it to give me access to the web.

Kurtz 08-23-2005 11:00 PM

What uni do you go to Steer?

Excellent song. Mastodon is awesome. I have Leviathan and I've heard all the other songs on Lifesblood and Remission. They're awesome and if you're a fan of technical wankery the intro to Aqua Dementia is sufficient.

Dr. Jake Destructo 08-23-2005 11:11 PM

Christ, 5 days with out an AIM chat and I feel socially deprived. :upset: You know you're in a sad state when most of your socializing comes from an IMing service. :p
