Wanker 08-29-2006 03:17 PM

I go back on Friday. Yay! I have no motivation whatsoever to pack.

Kyle 08-29-2006 04:34 PM
Hell yeah, dude. I'm surprised nobody's gotten to those already.

I've tried Wanker's method, but it's never really worked out for me. I like to load up my reviews with context and analogies that take some work.
Yeah, as was I. Wanker's method is genrally the way I do it. Except I listen to the album, and then see if there is enough which I have to say about a certain album, if there is, I arrange it into paragraphs, and then write it up in full.

I'm going for my first year at uni late september sometime, I'm nervous.

The Great Decay 08-29-2006 04:42 PM

I'm going into my last year of highschool.

br3ad_man 08-29-2006 06:13 PM

I finish high school in three months!

nutty_bar 08-29-2006 06:17 PM

Ending in December? Are you graduating early, or late?

Or is this some crazy Aussie thing?

br3ad_man 08-29-2006 06:18 PM

It's an Australian thing. We go by the calendar year for school. I finish in mid to late November.

nutty_bar 08-29-2006 06:24 PM

That seems really weird to me. How long is your "summer vacation"? Are you starting in like April?

Zmev 08-29-2006 06:29 PM
That seems really weird to me. How long is your "summer vacation"? Are you starting in like April?
my summer vacation was from April 29 - August 27

:college:

nutty_bar 08-29-2006 06:40 PM

April 29th. That is the date NBA Street Vol. 2 came out. I know, it was years ago, and don't ask how I knew that off the top of my head.
April 29th. That is the date NBA Street Vol. 2 came out. I know, it was years ago, and don't ask how I knew that off the top of my head.
it's also uma thurman's birthday, as well as the birthday of one of my friends PLUS its the birthday of my old roommate

nutty_bar 08-29-2006 06:48 PM

Sounds like an important date, but most important of all, it is 12 days after my birthday.

sr800bkBassist 08-29-2006 06:48 PM

i thought this was funny, taken from Buddyhead's gossip page:

The feud between Revenge Sevendust or whatever the **** they’re called, and the Dillinger Escape Plan is boiling up. According to Dillinger's MySpace page, a feud had been festering for several months when Revenge Seventeen’s frontman M. Shadows turned up the heat during a recent interview saying, “Dillinger make ****ty noises and try to pass it off as music.” “What about bands that make ****ty noise and try to pass it off as Guns N' Roses?” a Dillinger MySpace post read in response. “This guy and his merry band of musical clowns get more hilarious by the minute. M. Shadows' real name is Matt Sanders or some ****.” Dillinger Escape Plan has responded by saying they've decided to change their stage names to keep up with the “spooky” band. “So, in his honor, our new names are officially as follows: G. Piranha, Blaster Master Weinman, Bullwhip Benoit, Corpse****er Pennie, and Leafeater Wilson. Those are going to be the names on our new CD — 100 percent serious.”

YDload 08-29-2006 06:51 PM

Yeah I heard about that. I really hope those names are on the new album, it will be hilarious.

I also like how the guy writing on behalf of DEP (I assume it's Puciato because that's what he sounds like in online Q&A chats) says he ought to send M. Shadows a Hallmark "Best Buddies" greeting card. I hope Shadows gets one from him!

metalicajaymz 08-29-2006 06:51 PM

why couldn't I have thought of Bullwhip Benoit :(

sr800bkBassist 08-29-2006 06:57 PM

also this is kind of old news (like from May or June) but i also found it on the Buddyhead gossip page.

apparently the Stooges and making a new album with Steve Albini.

metalicajaymz 08-29-2006 06:58 PM

That could be good news, but remember Skull Ring?

yeah.

br3ad_man 08-29-2006 07:15 PM
That seems really weird to me. How long is your "summer vacation"? Are you starting in like April?
The school year starts in early February usually. First term finishes around April.

br3ad_man 08-29-2006 08:11 PM

So I'm really sick at the moment and I had yesterday and today off school. I tried to ring up and cancel my driving test tomorrow but they said I wouldn't get my booking fee refunded so I'm just going to do it anyway. Arg this sucks.

metalicajaymz 08-29-2006 08:16 PM

it's awesome when you see your band in the myspace music list of a person you don't even know.

asdf 08-29-2006 08:57 PM

So right now my mom is upstairs ranting about how she's not allowed to say Jimmy Buffett sucks around certain people.
it's awesome when you see your band in the myspace music list of a person you don't even know.
that happened to me twice, but both the girls who put my old band in their music lists also listened to like Coldplay, Copeland, Panic! at the Disco, and stuff like that :(.

the cool thing is, though, i keep looking at my friend's Lastfm and our band keeps showing up high on his list.

Zappa 08-30-2006 01:59 AM

I googled myself today and found live performance pictures I'd never seen. They were taken by a girl I know, but still.

Interstate 08-30-2006 01:00 PM

Public transport sucks.

Some idiot decided to chuck himself in front on an oncoming train so my train was terminated about 4 stops from my station.
I was two hours late getting to work not to mention being crushed like a sardine on my train going home with some baby screaming about 10cm away from my ear the whole journey (40 mins). Man I seriously wanted to beat that kid.

I wouldn't mind but transport prices are extortionate, they could at least stick more carriages on the trains at peak times.

/rant over.

nutty_bar 08-30-2006 06:44 PM

You ride a train to work? Where do you live? The only time I have ever been on a train was some field trip when I was little.

Luxor 08-30-2006 07:27 PM

Commuting by train really isn't that bad. A lot of times it's faster than taking a car, buses are what suck. It used to take me an hour to get to school taking the bus. Now that I have a car I can get there in 12 minutes.

nutty_bar 08-30-2006 08:11 PM

I hate buses too. When I went to L.A. they had the redline which is basically like the subway. It was pretty cool. That trip to L.A./Hollywood was the best. They have so many escalators around there. I love escalators.

sr800bkBassist 08-30-2006 08:13 PM
Commuting by train really isn't that bad.
yeah, if you need to get across the damn continent, i guess so.
since when do people ride trains short distances?
