Sonic Youth - Goo
Sonic Youth - Murray Street MF DOOM - MM..FOOD hard to believe those two SY albums are from the same band. I think I probably like Goo better, though if you asked me a month ago I would have responded completely different. |
its not hard to believe at all
|
Finally re-ripped (not sure how it got deleted) this 4-cd set of very old recordings of all of Debussy's piano pieces, played by Walter Gieseking. Digging that again.
|
King Crimson- Red
11/10 |
American Football- s/t
its okay, i might need some more time with it. |
i think its great. if you end up liking it check out the EP too
p.s. i have also been digging my new song. arizona http://myspace.com/nickingvoldstad the end is funny. my friend calls and invites me to his house and im like alright i'm working on a song but its pretty much done, i'll finish it burn it to a cd and come over and he's like alright how long is it gonna be and i said 10 mins, but i ended up working on it for another 45 mins. and while i'm recording the last part, a vocal track at the end, he calls, i finish the part and pick up the phone. since it was recording i put it on speakerphone and up to the mic and ****ed with him as much as possible. so then i rendered that, burnt it and left and i left the song at that for like a week, but i just changed a few things and ****ed with the phone conversation in a pretty cool way (to me) also Sunset Rubdown - Daytrotter EP is so goooooooooood |
Nick Lowe consistently wrote good hooks on Jesus of Cool, but I dont know if I'm hearing enough edginess and pure invention on here for it to hold up.
|
Nitin Sawhney - Beyond Skin
Pinback - Summer in Abbadon |
Misfits - Earth A.D.
Pavement - Wowee Zowee |
I picked up that Pavement book for like 16 dollars the other day. . . it was worth it, although it seems like a few of the items in the reissues were taken from here. or, you know, it could be one of those crazy coincidende things.
Anyway, Texas Never Whispers is an amazing song. |
City of Caterpillar - City of Caterpillar
Roadside Monument - Beside This Brief Hexagonal |
A Flock of Seagulls - s/t
Glad you guys enjoyed The Cure. Did they play much off Head on the Door?
The only ones I remember hearing were "In Between Days" and "Close to Me." And I was really hoping to hear "Six Different Ways" too. tbh, the version of "Close to Me" was a bit off. Dug this today: The Feelies - Crazy Rythms It's good stuff. Good job whoever uploaded it for the mailing list. |
They did "A Night Like This" and "Push" as well. "Close to Me" was weird, but I was pretty happy just to hear it.
|
Desaparecidos - Read Music/Speak Spanish. I love this album so much. Not a bad song on it if you ask me.
I've tried to get into Bright Eyes like a thousand times and it never works. |
Modeselektor - Happy Birthday!
|
xtc - white music
but mostly "all along the watchtower" |
Digging Jeff Mueller's bands today:
Rodan - Rusty June Of 44 - Four Great Points I think this album's four great points are "Of Information and Belief", "Cut Your Face", "Does Your Heart Beat Slower", and "Air #17". The other songs are ok. |
Charalambides - Joy Shapes
Mogwai - Rock Action |
Negativland - Escape from Noise
|
^Negativland is fantastic.
The Modern Lovers self titled Wire - Pink Flag Gong - Flying Teapot Am I cool yet? |

Ah, well there ya go, eh. Oh, and what was up with the massive over use of the wah wah? That was strange. |
Yeah it was like they were trying to make them into stadium rock songs or something. Weird.
The Smiths - The Queen is Dead |
Various Artists - Funk/Soul Revival: Classic Tracks and the New Breed
free, making it that much better. p.s. - it is GOOD |
^Negativland is fantastic.
The Modern Lovers self titled Wire - Pink Flag Gong - Flying Teapot Am I cool yet?
Awesome Proto-Punk, Post-Punk, and Psych respectivley. You're officially cool now. King Crimson-Red, In The Court of the Crimson King, and Disicpline. For some reason these guys never clicked with me until a few days ago. |
If you're going to bestow genre names like they matter, I might as well dispute the claim that Pink Flag is "post-punk." It's from '77 and it's completely stripped to punk rock basics.
