I've heard Nightrage, but the other two I will check out. Thanks a lot, both of you.

Stoic 02-20-2006 04:12 PM

Oh and I think Beyond the Embrace would do as well :)

HazMan 02-20-2006 07:35 PM

Anybody know any bands that have Gwar style ridiculousness?

Haunted Garage, and Green Jelly.

Strapping Young Lad has some ridiculous lyrics on occasion...

Deth 02-20-2006 08:30 PM

But not a gimmick band like what he's looking for.

I guess Anal Cunt would be one.

Apocalyptic Raids 02-20-2006 08:38 PM
Could someone recommend me some lesser known melodeath/Gothenburg style metal? I've heard most of the big ones, and I wanna find some new bands.
Arghoslent. Unless you've heard them already.

MetalOz 02-23-2006 08:21 AM

I like Children of Bodom, Norther, Kalmah, but I could do without the harsh vocals. I prefer clean vocals. Any recommendations of bands musically like these but with clean vocals? I do have a few Sinergy albums with Alexi and clean vocals and they are prett good but not as complex as COB...

Apocalyptic Raids 02-23-2006 08:25 AM

I can't really think of anything actually...

So I will just do what I always do when someone wants Power Metal and recommend Dungeon.

:-D

I have One Step Beyond and it's great :thumb: but nothing like the bands I mentioned

Dream Evil
Dragonforce (even faster then Bodom)
Galloglass
Manowar

For Nile the common recommendation is Behemoth

Some bands similar to Death: Atheist, Gory Blister, Gorguts, Led Astray and Never (two fairly unknown bands but very close to death), Criterion (Death meets Immolation)

Try Kronos for Nile like stuff. Its like Nile except with Greek Mythology.

I second Gory Blister and also try some Martyr (Canada) or Coprofago

Stoic 02-25-2006 01:08 PM

damn how could I forget Kronos! Incredible band, only I would recommend them as similar to Death as well.

Stormrider 02-25-2006 01:08 PM

Thanks Stoic and Poofy. I had already checked out Behemoth. I remeber not liking the vocals..I'll give it another try though.

NP Nevermore - Narcosynthesis

Im sure you have some Nevermore.... If you dont they are an awsome metal band with clean vocals. They dont really sound like any of the bands you mentioned though.

CaptainWaits 02-25-2006 02:45 PM

Do any of you know any "Surfur" type songs/bands?? If you've ever watched Pulp Fiction, the music playing, when John Travolta is driving to Mia's house while shooting up heroine, is what I am asking for...

bushey37 03-01-2006 06:27 PM

what is dokken's best album?

10th man down 03-01-2006 06:34 PM

Which Pagan's Mind album is better, Celestial Entrance or Enigmatic : Calling?

I've heard four songs off Celestial Entrance and I love them, but how is Enigmatic : Calling.

Apocalyptic Raids 03-01-2006 06:34 PM

Later Behemoth especially.
Some bands similar to Death: Atheist, Gory Blister, Gorguts, Led Astray and Never (two fairly unknown bands but very close to death), Criterion (Death meets Immolation)
Also try Pestilence. They are extremely awesome.

Under Lock and Key and Back for the Attack are the ones I like most...

I like Enigmatic Calling better. I have both albums uploaded. I could send you the links.

10th man down 03-01-2006 06:57 PM

I'd like that but I have dail-up so it's not really an option for me to be downloading big files. :upset:

Thanks for the offer though. :)

Can someone recommend me some songs or albums by The Red Sparowes, thanks.

Get At The Soundless Dawn. Excellent stuff. I love the song titles as well.

BlackRoseImmortal915 03-05-2006 10:19 AM

I know someone has probably already asked this question..but I can't find it in here...does anyone know of any bands like Opeth or Cephalic Carnage?

Bartender 03-05-2006 10:21 AM

The two suggestions you'll probably find a lot in relation for Opeth around here would be Agalloch and Farmakon. Agalloch closer to a slower, melancholy Opeth, and Farmakon closer to a faster, heavier, melodic death Opeth.

Stoic 03-05-2006 11:21 AM

Cephalic Carnage: Psy0pus, Into the Moat, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Ion Dissonance

BlackRoseImmortal915 03-05-2006 12:35 PM

thanks to both of you. :thumb:

Txus 03-05-2006 12:42 PM

I would add to Bartender´s post this other band that sounds alot like Opeth, they´re called Novembre.

BlackRoseImmortal915 03-05-2006 12:55 PM

Alright cool, i'll have to check them out. thanks:)

Nepenthe 03-05-2006 03:45 PM

I'm looking for anything along the lines of Ulver's Kveldssanger. I am absolutely in love with this cd and am interested in hearing other Nordic sounding cd's. Preferably acoustic (pretty sure that's all there is in this field but just in case).

Shattered_Future 03-05-2006 03:50 PM
I know someone has probably already asked this question..but I can't find it in here...does anyone know of any bands like Opeth or Cephalic Carnage?
Novembers Doom as well. Very Opeth-styled.

Pagan's Mind albums...I think they're better for different things. Enigmatic Calling has less irritating vocals, while Celestial Entrance has better music.

Invicta_Veritas 03-05-2006 04:00 PM

I fell upon November's Doom by accident. Very good stuff.

Anyway, does anybody know of a band that is kind of like Six Feet under and Cannibal Corpse (sludgy stuff) but with slightly more intelligent lyrics and a little it more melody to them?

Shattered_Future 03-05-2006 04:03 PM

Neither of those bands are sludge, but you might do well to go with Autumn Leaves.

how about dying fetus?

Invicta_Veritas 03-05-2006 07:16 PM

ill check those out

Mazeppa 03-06-2006 01:50 PM

Would someone care to recommend me an album by The Doors? I've gotten into The End lately, after watching Apocalypse Now and I'm curious to hear some more of their stuff.

Bartender 03-06-2006 02:37 PM

I got my sister The Doors and LA Woman for her birthday, and from what I heard they're both pretty good. I'd probably go for the self-titled if I decided I wanted something for myself.

Sleeper 03-06-2006 07:37 PM

Could anyone please recommend me some albums by Dark Tranquillity, I've only heard a couple of songs and i'm starting to get into them. If anyone could
recommend me any other Melodic Death Metal, that would help me.
