Years: 20
or if you mean how long they play the gig for
roughly 3 hours 8-11 with a 15 minute break.
Ah I was wondering about the play time of their last two gigs in England, - the threes hours thing, didn't know they had been together for 20 years though :amaze: That's longer than I have been alive.

Lord Abortion 10-25-2005 04:39 PM

Haha, the "Don't cross the crooked step!" bit in honour thy father is awesome...

scenesfromatheater 10-25-2005 04:51 PM
But that's nothing like what they played last night? Their setlists change every time they play. When were you on the phone? Tonight? Or last night?
Tonight (second London show). Me bro said they played a song off every album last night which would be cool at Wolverhampton.

Haha, I'm watching the making of TOT, and it's awsome. JR hits the last note of the album after ITNOG with his nose. It makes me laugh every time....ahhhh....Rudess, what a guy.

shamed-angel 10-25-2005 04:54 PM

Dude, where'd you get that from?

don't mean to rub it in but live they changed the end of the chorus of As I am from "Take me as I am" to "lick my ass and balls" I found that highly humorous

shamed-angel 10-25-2005 04:58 PM

I thought that was fucking ridiculous...

My bro sent it me, I think he might have got it off the MP forums. As you may have noticed, my bro is a good man.:thumb:

shamed-angel 10-25-2005 05:01 PM

Could you send it to me? Pleease? :upset:

I'm immature at heart, I find things like that funny.

scenesfromatheater 10-25-2005 05:04 PM

Haha, did JR wear a beanie tonight? Cause me bro said he was, obviously he had many complaints from blinded DT fans on the front row.

shamed-angel 10-25-2005 05:07 PM

Mike got rid of Jose? :amaze: That's not cool. I always thought he was a clone using John Myung's left over elbow skin anyway.
Doesn't Jordan's new beard look like Abe Lincon?

He is a crazy guy. I can't wait to see them tommorow. Hopefully I'll get to the front cause it's standing.

that's what his new beard kinda looks like. I added head shine too.

scenesfromatheater 10-25-2005 05:15 PM

Has JR changed his beard then? I thought it was still like it was on Budokan.

Jev 10-25-2005 05:17 PM
Has JR changed his beard then? I thought it was still like it was on Budokan.
You'll find out soon enough, unless he shaves it off.

Off-topic: I want my hair like Petrucci has it now but everyone thinks I'm joking :(

shamed-angel 10-25-2005 05:19 PM

He looked really gay last night...

scenesfromatheater 10-25-2005 05:20 PM

Petrucci looks awsome now, he looks like the guitar freak he is.

shamed-angel 10-25-2005 05:21 PM

Nah, he wears massive goth boots and really nu-metal trousers.

scenesfromatheater 10-25-2005 05:21 PM

Yeesh.
But his only album with the band was their worst? Falling into Infinity= Wank.
FII isn't that bad of an album at all. After the Masterpieces that were I&W, Awake and ACoS I can definately see it being a huge letdown, however in the grand scheme of things, it's pretty decent.

Trial of Tears for the win.

And besides, with FII Atlantic was screwing them around at the time, it was supposed to be a completely different record before Atlantic started hacking and slashing at it.

I thought 'Falling Into Infinity' was alright also. Different side of DT, but nevertheless...good.

bwnstl 10-25-2005 11:59 PM

Great songs on FII: New Millenium, Peruvian Skies, Burning My Soul, Lines in the Sand, Trial of Tears. That's 5 great songs on an 11 track album. By no means groundbreaking, but still a decent album nonetheless.

Triangle 10-26-2005 03:27 AM

After last night I can safely say Theresa Thompson for the win.

I think some songs are brilliant. But they didn't have complte artistic control over their music and Desmond Child co-wrote a few songs on it. Trial of Tears, Hell's Kitchen and Peruvian Skies are amazing. But I think that the fact that the record were "exerting pressure in the band to make it more commercial" (according to the programme from the gig on monday night) and I think that ruined the album. OnceInALIVEtime is also IMO their worst live album. It's not bad by any means, just not as good as their other 3.

However, Derek Sherinian played on my favourite song of all time "Change of Seasons", the solos he plays on there are class and the sheer fact that he played on it makes him worthy of my respect. He's also very arrogant on
5YearsinaLIVEtime.

Has anyone here heard the original version on ACOS? It's on "Images and Words Demos" from YTSE Jam.com And It's really weird. It has a guy called Chris Cintron on it, and apparently he's the one who helped to shape alot of the vocal melodies in the song.

finally, someone mentions hell's kitchen as a highlight from FII  .

i agree with everything you said in that post

The instrumental ending is one of the most majestic, brilliant and overall, satisfying pieces of music they have ever written.

Lord of Sword 10-26-2005 06:51 AM

i like FII, it is different but it seems more melodic and was obviously a totally different direction from Awake. most of the songs are ok, but it also has some of my favourite DT songs like take away my pain, hell's kitchen and trial of tears. plus some of my favourite petrucci solos, especially peruvian skies and take away my pain. not really on the same level as most of DT's other releases but it is still a very good album.

scenesfromatheater 10-26-2005 09:40 AM

I really can't stand the album. The only song I enjoy listening to is Peruvian Skies. Trial of Tears is good but I just find so boring after the first few minutes.

nowitzki 10-26-2005 10:29 AM

Words cannot do justice the shows I witnessed Monday and Tuesday night.

Best shows ever, no question.

I might post a full review later, don't have time right now.

the2stranger 10-26-2005 10:37 AM

good good!!

I wish I wnet, but I had no means of transport :(
looking forward to the review :thumb:

scenesfromatheater 10-26-2005 10:44 AM

It won't be as good as my review from the gig tonight:thumb:
