I was thinking the same thing.

I laughed.

PaulSimonon 10-23-2006 08:51 PM

That was the point. It fit into both things at once.
I am trying to learn Linus and Lucy.
Tapping really isn't that hard if you start slow and figure out how the two parts fit together.
That is the way to do it. I just do each hand individually until both parts are memorised, separately, and then I throw them together. WHABAM!

Akira 10-23-2006 08:52 PM

on the 1-5-8 my and sort of wants to play 1-5-#8. I'm getting it though. I have big hands, so it's not bad.
I love tapping. It's kind of like how you love looping; you can make something fairly simple sound really impressive and cool.

I love looping because I'm incapable of supporting myself musically without background noise.

The problem I always had with tapping is I would watch pianists who could basically play something in one hand, forget about it, and play a melody in the other, and I couldn't do that and got frustrated. I've found I really have to subdivide it down, almost look at it as diad after diad as opposed to two parts.

Same difference. My playing is bad enough to often constitute as noise.

I always think this.

Also, I voted in league 2. For you.

Yeah, that sounds like a heaps long process. I just look at each hand's piece separately, and then combine the two pieces as I have already stated.

I would have a heads up on this if I hadn't dropped out of piano lessons. :upset:

There's so much sexual innuendo in this thread.

That'll mess up your rythm if you're doing something with two different feels at the same time... especially if you want to do polyrythmic stuff.

Try playing a fugue like that.... not gonna work out too well.

Huzzah!

Someone give me a pity vote!

Actually, make it 2, so that I'll be ahead of Havic.

Efrim 10-23-2006 08:58 PM

Someone cameup and told me they liked my music today.

However, this was balanced out by three saying it hurt their ears

Well I mean I learn each piece seperately, but at least at the beginning I have to think of them as one. Then I start to memorize the piece and it is easier. I figure that's just part of training my hand independence, I assume it will get easier.
I wish I had stayed on piano longer too. It's okay though, even the lessons I took as a little kid gave me a huge head start in understanding music. I don't remember a time when I couldn't read music. It was weird going into my electronic music class this year and being around kids who didn't know anything about reading music, I totally take that for granted.

I'm having enough trouble with simple stuff. I would prefer not to even think about polyrhythms yet.

I think I voted for you. Mainly because that tone is so sexy.

PaulSimonon 10-23-2006 09:01 PM

I'm personally content with just grooving all the time. I hardly ever tap in a band setting, so I don't practice it much.

TBH I hardly play bass outside of band practices now... it's usually guitar.

One Groovin Clown 10-23-2006 09:02 PM

I'm surprised more people don't vote on the competitions.
Ben, six, and havics has only 13 votes

I'm much more a fingerstyle player myself.

I slap and tap only when I practice at home. Even then I don't do it often.

13?!

/goes and checks

You mean 7.

:amaze:

And, yeah. People suck. It used to be only league 1 that got any attention, but even now that doesn't get a lot.

Yeah, I'm not in a band right now...

That's a big reason I've been tapping and stuff so much. If I had a band my priorities would be different.
I want to try to get up a jazz combo, but finding musicians for that might be even harding than finding ones for a rock band.

You did.

I like that tone a lot, too. I've got a nice distortion too, that I need to debut soon.

Yeah, that'll be hard to do around here... I play sax, but my chops are in the ****ter.

That's what I wrote. I included all 3.
Anyways, i liked all the entries.

I need to get some recording equipment.
Know any programs or hardware for bass-->computer recording?
