Do any of the members have other bands now?

Let's Chop Cats! 10-11-2004 10:03 PM

Yeah. Checkout the Profile I did on them, it lists all the ex-refused projects and such. The link is in the rules thread.

Gotkookie 10-11-2004 10:03 PM

Casey jones = best edge band

the (international) noise conspiracy

shane italian 10-11-2004 10:04 PM
Casey jones = best edge band
Vitamin X
Youth Of Today
GB
Count Me Out
TYF
Stand & Fight
Down To Nothing
Mouthpiece

All these bands rape CJ.

Gotkookie 10-11-2004 10:05 PM

I listen to those, but I still think Casey jones is amazing, with those **** family guy quotes

NewKindofArmy03 10-11-2004 10:05 PM
Casey jones = best edge band
no way. they're great, but there's plenty of better edge bands still.

I always get fried for saying this, but quite honestly, what is it in the human psyche that finds an inborn need to categorize? Music falls into two categories, the stuff you like and the stuff you don't. End of story.

When people say "[insert name] what kind of music do you listen to?", I know you say something along the lines of at least rock and roll, jazz, punk, hip hop.

Converge highlights:

- I went two nights in a row. Converge had almost entirely different sets each night, and between both they played: Most of Jane Doe and You Fail Me, including "Jane Doe" with Stephen Brodsky playing guitar, which was fucking awesome/epic, and quite a few oldies: "The Saddest Day", "Conduit", "My Great Devastator", "Forsaken", and "Towing Jehovah".

- Ben's mustache. Holy shit, you could tow an RV with that thing.

- Finding out me and Nate have the same birthday was kind of cool

- JUGGERNAUGHT (twice)... and Halo of Flies and Ebola

- Ben getting up from his set during a pause in "The Saddest Day", doing a headwalk, then coming back onstage and finishing the song

- Aspirations. It's about damn time.

- Showing up just in time the first night to miss Scars of Tomorrow

- Stage dives

- High fives

- Listening to the 3 nu-metal guys next to me freak out during BTBAM and yell at Paul that he was their idol, after which they begged for a pick.
Terror, dillinger escape plan, count me out, righteous jams.

Dillinger isnt hardcore but good, Converge isnt either but good :thumb:
dude, i checked out terror, and they are the most generic hardcore band ive ever heard. im looking for the total opposite.

tornpictures 10-12-2004 08:00 AM
WTF is wrong with you, you always bring up stuff that has nothing to do with the topic.
First your saying im calling indie, emo, now your saying he said hatebreed are DIY?
I already explained, it was a minor mistake. I asked you why it was okay to call 'screamo' bands emo, when it's not okay to call indie rock bands emo?
You seemed to be slagging off all the kids who called indie rock-ish bands emo.

I NEVER said he said Hatebreed were DIY, dip****.

shane italian 10-12-2004 08:08 AM

But you were implying that that was what he meant.

tornpictures 10-12-2004 08:13 AM

Look kid, if he'd first start off by re-reading my posts, then at least try to understand what I typed there..

He's save us all a nice discussion about retardation.

He should also learn that hardcore is a very broad genre of music.

Pat Hyperrealist runs a hardcore label, not a 'screamo' label.

shane italian 10-12-2004 08:18 AM

Whatever man, no opinions are changing here.

tornpictures 10-12-2004 08:25 AM

There is no opinion, just fact.
...there's a picture of their bassist holding a beer. I'm positive they have sold out and are slowing breaking away from the whole edge outlook on the band.

Plus Throwdown are tiny wusses.
That picture is a joke one they have on their Myspace. It's Keith Buckley's (from ETID) beer. Dom (the bassist) thought it would be funny to take a pic of him holding it. Throwdown still bring the edge.

And it isn't that horrible if you smoke in front of throwdown. They played "raise your fist" here the other day and a bunch of mall metal kids were lighting up next to me.

tornpictures 10-12-2004 12:59 PM

Hahaha, Throwdown.

A-Life-Less-Plagued 10-12-2004 03:20 PM

It took me a while to realize it, but the new No Warning does indeed suck.

cbmartinez 10-12-2004 03:56 PM

Word.

Silvermedalmafia 10-12-2004 05:08 PM
No, you have to claim. Edge isn't a set of rules about drugs and alcohol. It's a positive outlook and mindset.
It sounds like they played a lot better there... :upset: Maybe because there was only like 150 people here.

But Converge is still the best band I have seen live.

NewKindofArmy03 10-12-2004 07:17 PM

i saw that movie "friday night lights" tonight and it played the first 2 minutes or so of "new noise" by refused.

CONNER_NWHC 10-12-2004 08:25 PM
Update from the road: Part 05
Dear Texas,

You provided some of our most memorable shows ever. Austin was too amazing to describe. It was just an unbelievable experience. San Antonio was also a killer experience. Thanks to all of you who came out and supported the shows. Also special thanks to Sea Of Thousands for playing the two Texas dates with us. They are a killer band. Keep an eye out for the debut album coming soon...

That's about it for this update, until next time...
