The Cure - Boys Don't Cry

in anticipation of seeing them tomorrow night
Same here. I haven't been this excited about a concert for a long time. Have you seen any of the setlists of Perth or Adelaide? The final encore is like half of Boys Don't Cry; the title track, Killing An Arab, Fire In Cairo, Three Imaginary Boys, Jumping Someone Else's Train.

In fact, the only song on any of the setlists that I would have been sad to miss is Plainsong.

i swear one day i will get this list to be different each week, but i listen to the same songs over and over again while playing along to them on bass, so there tends to be a lot more repetition than i'd like :-/

speaking of playing songs, i learned all of Surfer Rosa finally. most of it was from tabs a long time ago, but i had to go over the album again because so much of playing it depends on learning when to suddenly start/stop

metalicajaymz 08-07-2007 03:24 PM

that Rapeman album sucks except for "Steak and Black Onions" and "Kim Gordon's Panties" which is only good because it's basically "Schizophrenia"

YDload 08-07-2007 03:36 PM

i like "Hated Chinee" and "Radar Love Lizard" too, because the last one is basically just making fun of Radar Love (i figured out the title of that song and Marmoset were switched when i listened to the lyrics)

i think the problem is that the album's just very badly recorded. i dont like the bass tone at all, even though it's SUPPOSED to be abrasive

A Dead Modernist 08-07-2007 03:54 PM

Black Lips played at my schools music festivel, true story
whats Black Lips like
They call themselves flower-punk, but it's basically just primal rock n' roll, 3 voices, guys who can barely play but make the most beautifully godawful racket I've heard in years. Think 13th Floor Elevators/The Fall/The Seeds but sloppier.

Anxious 08-07-2007 04:06 PM

I'm going to see them in a couple of months.

Tangy zizzle 08-07-2007 04:07 PM

Lucky motherfucker.

YDload 08-07-2007 04:35 PM

the onion AV club's "Permanent Records" has an article about Superchunk. seems like a neat band.

Bukowski 08-07-2007 04:50 PM

Melvins - Gluey Porch Treatments
Debris' - Static Disposal
Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica

Debris' are really cool, AlienEater. I love the crazy, fast guitar work that appears (out of nowhere) on some of the tracks. The guitarist's style reminds me a little of Greg Ginn, but a lot cleaner sounding. Very cool band.
