RockAndRoll 03-29-2005 07:02 PM

I did too until just now.

lunch998 03-29-2005 07:03 PM

I haven't used it since I tried to listen to Mountain Jam on it and the quality was completely terrible.

pigonthewing82 03-29-2005 07:05 PM
I don't know anything by them except Smoke on the Water
Their song Child in Time is amazing that one is my favorite.

But, hey, you listened to Mountain Jam for free.

Seafroggys 03-29-2005 07:37 PM

Child of Time is definitly one of the greatest songs of all time.

I haven't heard Machine Head yet, I only own In Rock and I've heard Made in Japan once, and I've listened to their first two albums (lots of covers), but from what I know, listen to Bloodsucker and Living Wreck as well.

Ian Paice is great at the drums.

nick37 03-29-2005 07:42 PM

Yah,

Child In Time is extremely awesome. Richie Blackmore is definetly one of the best ever. His style is so.....creative.....

Like how he plays some of his songs. With the organ backing him up. It blows my mind that the organist was trained to be a classical pianist, and grew up learning Mozart. I really respect that because i'm a classical guitarist.

He definitely is, it's too bad the way alot of people think of deep purple just because they think they've heard smoke on the water too many times.

I can upload a few good tracks if you want.

Distant Echoes 03-29-2005 08:17 PM

Smoke on the Water probably isnt even there best song...but undoubtably their most popular.

Machine Heads never a disapointment. Highway Star, Child in Time, Lazy are my favs.

Some dipwad did a review on machine head after i clearly said i was doing one in this thread, and it sucks ***. Id totally do something about it if Sputnik would let me log on  :upset:

Today I picked up Disraeli Gears, Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton, and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.

pigonthewing82 03-29-2005 08:43 PM

Do you guys think the whole sloppy thing really matters. I mean if its horrible it does, but everybody says Jimi Hendrix was sloppy (whitch he was I guess) but I have countless live stuff from him, and I don't mind it at all, is it really that big of a deal?

Wait is it your first time hearing those?

Distant Echoes 03-29-2005 08:53 PM

Sgt Peppers is brilliant, and Disraeli gears got me into Cream heavily.

I got allmon brothers today...live at Fillmore and half of the white album. Both are pretty screwed up, but i can cope with it. I also got CCRs greatest hits, which i dont know if ill like or not.

I just learned Another Day in the Life today on guitar. Probably my favorite beatles song too :thumb:

JonG 03-29-2005 08:56 PM

Sgt. Peppers is great, I've been listening to that, and American Beauty the past few days...I don't have the real CD of Disraeli, but I do have it on my computer :)

Eat a Peach, and Fillmore are their best IMO, Eat A Peach was my first Allmans record.

magicbus 03-29-2005 08:58 PM
Wait is it your first time hearing those?
I've had a burned copy of Bluesbreakers for a while, I've heard most of Disraeli Gears from my Very Best of Cream cd, but not all of it, and I've only heard a few songs off Sgt. Pepper's. I'm excited to hear that one.

And I don't think sloppyness matters. As long as its not so sloppy that you're out of key and rhthym the whole time. Some stuff that Jimmy Page and Hendrix does is sloppy, but I still like it.

well it only really matters if it sounds bad.

oh and you'll love sgt peppers! :thumb:

It's not their best if you ask me but sometimes people brush it off for being popular, but it is actually really good as well as catchy and popular.

I think its impressive what he was able to do with such a simple riff.

Ya.

I find people see that it's a simple riff and absolutely overlook anything else that goes on in the song and so they write it off as just some easy song. Fools...

RockAndRoll 03-29-2005 10:42 PM

Does anyone know how much the deep purple tickets are?

Yeah I can't count the number of kids at my school who think they are hot shit because they can play the intro. Its weird you know when you ask them to play the whole thing they stare at you like a deer in headlights.
