I saw them live. It looked like he was just punching it the whole time.
I envy much I want to kill you.
When I saw them they were rubbing them against the wall and then they threw them on the ground and started kicking them.
Yeah, that sort of thing fascinates me. Ever since I saw them I've been emulating that sort of thing, and trying to figure out new ways to get weird sounds out of my guitar.

This video is awesome:

TGD: A lot of the sounds they make are also produced by pedals they use. They have tons of them from what I know, especially hand-built and whatnot.

Lee has a bunch of guitars with a pickup under the area between the saddle type thing and the bridge. Lots of chiming creepy type stuff comes from that.

sketchyjoe 08-26-2006 06:13 PM
haha. Overall, how were they?
Excellent.
I envy much I want to kill you.
Have you lost the power of communication from too much envy?

Melt-Banana are somewhat well-known in Britain thanks to John Peel.

This is why I love Sonic Youth

Was that Saturday night live?

The Great Decay 08-26-2006 06:16 PM

Has anyone ever listened to The Swans? A friend of mine was telling me about them, apparently they have some sort of connection to Sonic Youth. I think they were in the same band/orchestra type thing at one point.

masada 08-26-2006 06:17 PM

I'm pretty sure some of the members of the Swans played with Glenn Branca at a point. Lee and Thurston also played with him.

In an interview Branca said something to the extent that he liked the Swans more than Sonic Youth for awhile, but then Daydream Nation basically ended that.

Oh and both of the bands' earlier stuff kinda sounds similar I guess. I need to listen to more Swans.

Matt? 08-26-2006 06:17 PM

i like free kitten. boredoms + sonic youth members equals neat in my gook

masada 08-26-2006 06:19 PM

I thought Kim was the only SY member in Free Kitten?

Bukowski 08-26-2006 06:20 PM

That video rules. Lee just looks like the coolest guy ever.

Matt? 08-26-2006 06:25 PM
Yeah. I love cold beer after playing football as well. Although I'm still underage, but I can get served at bars cuz I look so macho. I usually drink at weekends, but I rarely get wasted, only at big parties and stuff. And tonight I didn't drink at all :)

Where I'm from though, drinking is such a huge part of youth culture. I know lots of people who go out EVERY weekend, and get trashed and look for people to fight with. Some guy got kicked out of my school the first week back for being wasted. Kinda sad.
There's nothing better to do where I live. This summer I drank probably 3-4 times a week.

Anxious 08-26-2006 06:37 PM

Kim looked like a grandma in the 80's

Glitterati 08-26-2006 06:38 PM
I hate having depression :/
Me too. I was diagnosed like two years ago and now it's like all my family members are walking on eggshells about it. It's like "don't say anything insensitive, crazy ol' Liam might snap."

masada 08-26-2006 06:39 PM

I take Welbutrin does that count?
Kim looked like a grandma in the 80's
Yes, and then she started looking all ratty by Bad Moon Rising and EVOL, then things started to improve. She looks better now than she did then, and she's like 51 or something.

sketchyjoe 08-26-2006 06:42 PM

My parents think I should have therapy.

masada 08-26-2006 06:43 PM

My parents think that I need to go to counselors because I don't like talking to people or leaving my house a lot.

They're silly.

I thought she looked kind of hot when I saw them.

I hated it when my whole family went for "family counseling" then it ended up just me going. Real subtle Dad, real damn subtle.

Luxor 08-26-2006 06:47 PM
I hated it when my whole family went for "family counseling" then it ended up just me going. Real subtle Dad, real damn subtle.
Haha, my parents suggested that to me as well.

Only I said no fucking way

rofl me too. i think everyone's parents want their kids to get counseled so that they can know everything that is going on in their childrens minds

Anxious 08-26-2006 06:48 PM

My parents didn't really suggest it. It was like get your shoes on, youre going to therapy.

Zappa 08-26-2006 06:49 PM

I really want to make a 3'' CD. They're so cute.

masada 08-26-2006 06:50 PM

I have one with Britney Spears and Black Eyed Peas singles on it. It came with a large drank at some place in a mall.

Anxious 08-26-2006 06:53 PM

I have a Pokemon one I got from Burger King

Zappa 08-26-2006 06:54 PM

I got one yesterday from a local noise musician slash friend.

Matt? 08-26-2006 06:54 PM

they piss me off. i can't play them in my stereo. or in car stereos

Zappa 08-26-2006 06:56 PM

So burn them onto a regular CD?

Matt? 08-26-2006 06:58 PM

yeah i know, but honestly what is the point of having it on 3" in the first place anyways? because it's more indie?

it just seems like a waste to me, cd-r's aren't that expensive i don't think...
