Jaundice 10-14-2009 07:21 PM

you're really really really deviant and deranged to say that any post-rock band could eve be better than NWA

Txus 10-14-2009 07:21 PM
its def better than both of those combinedx2
 ok

Nepenthe 10-14-2009 07:23 PM

yeha ok NWA puts out one good album, and even that one is overrated, and theyre the best thing to happen to rap. people who actually think NWA is gods gift to rap are ****kin bandwagon riders trying to look cool.

Txus 10-14-2009 07:24 PM

NWA are okay but John Coltrane dude...wtf is wrong with you Anthony :(

Nepenthe 10-14-2009 07:25 PM

lol, there's nothing trendy about liking NWA. it's trendy to not like them.

to deny their influence is ridiculous, they're the most important thing that ever happened to hip hop in its entire history

Dimmu Burger 10-14-2009 07:28 PM

C'mon Elimm... c'mon.

Txus 10-14-2009 07:28 PM
they're the most important thing that ever happened to hip hop in its entire history

the NWA sound is so clearly evident in hip hop any year after 1994

Jaundice 10-14-2009 07:30 PM

im not trying to be argumentative or anything but i thought it was common knowledge that NWA invented the template for modern rap, and that hip hop was a completely different genre before them

im not saying any thing about them being the best or even close, but they had at least twice as much influence as any individual artist or group before or since

Nepenthe 10-14-2009 07:31 PM

you thought wrong

the amen break had been used plenty before they came out

the word nigga and the topic of money and hustlin had been around since lightnin' rod's hustler's convention

Txus 10-14-2009 07:35 PM
why?

I only listen to rap that is lyrically complex and not unbearably cheesy

Txus 10-14-2009 08:04 PM

Black Uhuru is reggae

Alex: Okay, we listen to totally different things in rap, except for big l and a couple here and there i guess. I still <3 u.

Nepenthe 10-14-2009 08:20 PM
lyrically complex
this describes the opposite of everything you listen to

Jaundice 10-14-2009 08:22 PM

So I listen to a little bit of Big Tymerz and Soulja Slim from time to time, kill me. I'm from New Orleans after all

Most of what I listen to is stuff like 40 Cal and JR Writer, and there's no way you could possibly think that any rapper is much more complex than those.

JR specifically is about as complex as hip hop will ever get.

Nepenthe 10-14-2009 08:24 PM

hahaha

Jaundice 10-14-2009 08:26 PM

cite one song as an example to prove to me that there's something more complex

pleaaaaase no MF Doom or similar scene girl hip hop :p

Txus 10-14-2009 08:28 PM

Busdriver - Fear of a Black Tangent album

my 2 cents

whats scene about mf doom?

witchxrapist 10-14-2009 08:28 PM
this describes the opposite of everything you listen to
haha

Nepenthe 10-14-2009 08:29 PM

dalek - abandoned language (whole album, but title track in particular)

complex rap =/= metaphors

really everything dalek writes is gold. some of his older stuff is like poetry.

iranscam 10-14-2009 08:29 PM

Busdriver just played a show here and I couldn't go to it :(

np:

the fact that i've been listening to rap on and off my whole life and had never heard of him up until a brief phase a few months ago where i hung out with large groups of scene / hipster types who all explained to me that Aesop Rock and MF Doom are the best MC's.

Oh no, not the flute guy ! I'll check out these rec's.

Txus 10-14-2009 08:31 PM

i prefer his old stuff tbh

but yeah, everything is good, even the new album which took me a bunch of listens to get into.

if you dont appreciate dalek **** off alex they even did an album with faust

you cant judge everyone becuase of the people you hang out with are ****ing stupid and follow trends. ive been listening to mf doom for more than 3 years, and i know some people who have been listening to him since his old days with the group he used to have with his brother so yeah.

his music is really good, i dont know how you can deny that.

Jaundice 10-14-2009 08:32 PM
