What?
He hasn't done an album with 'tallica, I meant Metallica have already done a rap song. Kind of.

Pro Beer Drinker 05-13-2006 07:31 AM

Rubin has also done albums with Beastie Boys and Jay-Z, and if Metallica was willing to do "We Did It Again", chances are they'll do some other rap track.

And it'll suck.

Jev 05-13-2006 07:32 AM

I can assure you there's not going to be a rap song on their new album though.
we did it again was a one off.

A7X_Theater_88 05-13-2006 08:15 AM

Megadeth actually have good guitar riffs, solos in their songs, but the singing just ruins everything. Holy Wars and Hangar 18 are awesome songs though

pep 05-13-2006 10:45 AM

I like Megadethīs singing, although I prefer Jamesīs.

Hmm maybe in the begining it's abit hard to get used to. I kinda fell in love with his voice right away though.

Jev 05-15-2006 05:01 AM

we can't let this thread die.

So yeah...
I wonder if Kirk will be doing any singing on the new album :p

W.M.A 05-15-2006 05:20 AM

or any guitaring? snap

i hope he doesn't sing, and i hope james works on his from st.anger.

Enlighten Me 05-15-2006 05:29 AM

IMO James didn't sound bad at all.

I would like to hear him sing on the album, just for the fact that he has a terrible singing voice.

MOP_Orion 05-15-2006 06:48 AM

It would be amusing to a certain extent, though not something i would want to hear

A7X_Theater_88 05-15-2006 07:22 AM

Kirk singing  does he actually sing in any of their tracks? if so which one

Jev 05-15-2006 07:24 AM

He doesn't sing on any tracks I don't think.
Maybe some back-ups on St Anger.

But live he does, and he sucks.

Check out the Traffic School song on the SKOM DVD too.

Yeah both him and Rob suck at singing.

Jev 05-15-2006 07:36 AM

Have you ever heard Lars' rendition of WonderWall?

Now I know why he doesn't do backing live.

timmySmi 05-15-2006 08:05 AM

I've also wondered now Jason's gone who's gonna be doing backing vocals on the new album. Iam guessing Rob & Kirk will just share the honor!

Jev 05-15-2006 08:30 AM

They did on St Anger.

Or James can always do his own on the album.

I love how in the movie james says "No one does solos anymore" (or something of the like)
And kirk gets the gayest look on his face. and the argument continues

Classic James Dickfield:smash:

Squirrel 05-15-2006 10:45 AM

It was only James singing on St. Anger, no backup vocals by anyone else.

Jev 05-15-2006 10:45 AM

I can't remember that part.

I have to watch it again sometime, haven't seen it in ages.

Sadbutrue16 05-15-2006 07:50 PM

Who do you guys think is best at their instrument?

ex: is James better at rythm guitare than Kirk is at lead?
Is Lars better at drums than Rob is at bass.

I think Lars and James are best at what they do and if I had to pick one I'd say James because I love his vocals.

Chu 05-15-2006 09:19 PM

James > Rob >>>> Lars = Kirk imo

Nepenthe 05-15-2006 09:23 PM

James > Rob > Kirk > Lars (how could anyone think he's a good drummer? His playing is so generic and sloppy.)

Chu 05-15-2006 09:30 PM
how could anyone think he's a good guitarist? His playing is so generic and sloppy.
Little bit of editing, but I think it applies equally well to Kirk :p

Nepenthe 05-15-2006 09:34 PM
Little bit of editing, but I think it applies equally well to Kirk :p
Heh, it could. I think that though he's an incredibly overrated and fairly generic player, he is still quite good and can convey quite a bit of emotion in his solos. Fade To Black for example.

Chu 05-15-2006 10:00 PM

He's not really a sloppy player, I just couldn't edit your words much :p

Although, I have heard he can be quite sloppy Live, I find it pretty hard to believe (He's been playing the same **** for the past 20 years, he can't be that bad :p)

James is easily best.

Cliff was better though. Maybe not, I dont know. He was a best songwriter of all people that are/were/will be in metallica though. Well can't say those that will be, but yea...

W.M.A 05-16-2006 03:43 AM

i dont know about rob, i thought junglessence (all i've heard by him) was really lousy. I never know with Kirk, he gets a fair beating on this website but I've never had an issue with anything other than the ridiculous praise he gets. James is the dogs bollocks. Lars is just bollocks.

Jev 05-16-2006 04:23 AM
He might just get nervous.
After 20 years? I'm not too sure.

Chu: I wouldn't say Lars and Kirk are equal talent-wise. Kirk owns Lars.

timmySmi 05-16-2006 09:47 AM

James is easily one of the most innovative, creative, solid Rhythm guitar players in the world. If You were take him out of the band, Metallica would be non existent.

Ive just heard a version of Seek & Destroy they did on the Madly Anger Tour. Since when did they start playing that song in Drop D? It sounded god damn awful.

Jev 05-16-2006 09:53 AM

Maybe it's a one off thing. I sure hope it is.

absolutely. less significantly, but equally relevantly, Metallica would also be non existant without Lars of Kirk IMO. Rob seems to me merely to be a current filler, but has potential to become more.

and to he who claimed Rob to be the best, i disagree entirely. although he is good.

Crysiss 05-16-2006 03:15 PM
Rob is much better at his instrument than any other in the band, listen to his stuff with Infectious Grooves.

I'll see if I can YSI one of the songs right now.

I doubt anyone has actually downloaded that.

Sadbutrue16 05-17-2006 12:23 PM

I was just wondering why everyone thought Ciff Burton is so good...I'm only 17 but i know Metallica well enough but Cliff was gone way before i knew about Metallica...think he died before i was born even (1988??). I heard his solo thing on KeA and all but sounds like lots of effects and distortion and what not.... I also heard he was a great song writer. I havn't really looked at who wrote what songs and whatnot. This is only one of the parts im ignorant in Metallica stuff. Or is this one of those things where he dies and all of a sudden he's the best (like Dimebag). I am not saying he isn't good at all. Just that everyone treats him like a god.

PS: Also wtf when i upoaded Metallica S&M to my comp it said Dave Mustaine helped write MoP?? That true or is the computer dumb?

I did, I was curious about Infectious Grooves.

Man, long time no post in this thread. Back in the day, I posted hear all the time under metal guitar.

If I remember correctly, Mustaine claimed to have written some or all (I can't remember) of Leper Messiah. Metallica never gave him that though, and I don't recall Mustaine ever claiming rights to any other songs from that album...

I remember he claimed partial rights to the MOP beginning. I haven't posted here in a while either.
