You guys are being really silly about this, hahaha.

Yeah, there are MX "factions" that will dominate the forums - dating back, but not limited to, Moniker's group of cronies - but I don't think there will ever be an MX Civil War unless crap reallllllllllllly gets out of hand.

Everyone should be like me and not associate himself/herself with any faction/clique :)
So today we watched a few scenes from The Pianist in my Holocaust class.

I'm pretty anti-shock: I think I've seen, read, or heard things that will really stun me, but there were some people in the class that gasped, cried, and covered their eyes when certain things happened.

We won't be able to finish the movie due to class restraints and all that jazz, but I would have been surprised if we were able to considering how people were so upset with what was depicted.

Right, so how's everyone doing?

Six Foot Revolver 10-21-2005 01:21 PM

Just planning your downfall, nothing much. You?

Mazeppa 10-21-2005 01:26 PM

The Pianist is worth seeing then? My mum liked it, but I still haven't bothered to watch it.

Not too bad. We've been watching a film version of Mein Kampf in class, and it's actually a very interesting thing.

Six Foot Revolver 10-21-2005 01:28 PM

I have never watched it but I have been planning to watch it for a while now.

The only way you'll ever catch up to me is if you guys strategically neg-rep me and collectively positively rep each other. It'll take you a few months, but at least you'll be able to catch up that way. :)

You could speed up the process by running a script in the lessons forum to jack your postcounts, too. Just don't get caught, or you'll face a... how do you say... permanent vacation? :)

Either way, if you are wasting time in "planning" my so-called "downfall" on MX, you need to go play outside some more. :)
But you have a Holocaust class? Or is it just part of the class?
Nope, it's entirely about the Holocaust. It's a very interesting class, just very grim, for obvious reasons.

There would be some much better friends than MX in a situation like this. Such as DBJ or Plexi :p.

"The Pianist" is a fantastic film in any consideration. As a Holocaust film, it surpasses "Schindler's List;" it's much more focused and consequently FAR more effective, and true to actual life and experience (whereas Schindler's List is based on a novel).

The made-for-TV movie "Uprising" is similarly excellent.

Bad Holocaust movies include "Jakob the Liar," which is a disgrace to its subject matter.

Illmatic 10-21-2005 02:21 PM

When it comes to Holocaust movies, I am partial to the 1975 blaxlpoitation thriller "Black Gestapo", myself.

Although I did read about black people in the Third Reich a little while ago. A black person in the Netherlands was even a Nazi spy.

Anyone know of any programs that let you edit artist/band names of tracks? Music Brainz fucked a few of mine up.

Bartender 10-21-2005 05:22 PM

Any Rufus Wainwright fans who happen to be hanging around here might want to switch on Jools Holland. He's already performed one song, but I imagine he'll be doing something else in a bit.

Iscariot 10-21-2005 05:38 PM

So, the new SOAD album is up for pre-order and it comes with a free lithograph of SOAD artwork.

/me already purchased

Bartender 10-21-2005 05:49 PM

Well it's finished now. When I posted that it only had twenty minutes or so left.

I think the first song he did was better than the second, anyway. I've no idea what song it was, but he did it supported by Burt Bacharach and his band.

I'm glad Later.. is back.

If I remember correctly, lithography is the process of printing from a small stone or metal plate on which the image to be printed is ink-receptive and the blank area is ink repellent. The artist, or other print maker under the artist's supervision, then covers the plate with a sheet of paper and runs both through a press under light pressure. The resultant "original print" is of considerably greater intrinsic worth than the commercially reproduced poster which is mechanically printed on an offset press.
