ps rasputin: ystäväni by itself means my friend, and in normal day speaking the dont use minum

rasputin 08-06-2009 09:48 PM

i was talking about the minum only which is why i quoted it.
basically
and how did i know that because finns are copycats

TimJim 08-06-2009 09:50 PM

sent

or because the turks invaded estonia at some point and finnish has lots of estonian in it

rasputin 08-06-2009 09:52 PM

ie. copycats

no it's just because they're all agglutinative

the turkish equivalent is 'ben' -> 'benim'

and a lot of central asian turkic languages have the same thing except men/menim instead

illmitch 08-06-2009 09:52 PM

its pretty common to have words for the first personal pronoun starting with M, because that sound is made with just the lips so you can say it before your teeth develop

TimJim 08-06-2009 09:53 PM
its pretty common to have words for the first personal pronoun starting with M, because that sound is made with just the lips so you can say it before your teeth develop
this too

illmitch 08-06-2009 09:54 PM

b is also made with the lips

Jaundice 08-06-2009 09:54 PM

I'll never forget the time illmitch told me about closing my nostrils and making an N sound

the finns were a uralic tribe that originated from central asia, that's why their language is agglutinative. turks never went to finland that's silly.

TimJim 08-06-2009 10:05 PM
the finns were a uralic tribe that originated from central asia, that's why their language is agglutinative. turks never went to finland that's silly.
i never said they did. i said they went to estonia, near russia.

also, the finns have always lived in the far north (if i remember right), and are closely related to the the sami

rasputin 08-06-2009 10:06 PM

you are wrong on both counts. learn 2 histry

TimJim 08-06-2009 10:07 PM

imma go wiki it brb

rasputin 08-06-2009 10:07 PM

also by central asia i mean north central asia ie. urals. they are called uralic for that reason.

TimJim 08-06-2009 10:09 PM

i know i know by the Ural mountains

rasputin 08-06-2009 10:11 PM

and it's also pretty obvious from their language. agglutinative languages all originate directly or indirectly from the same part of the world. finnish is just markedly different now because of its long period of separation.

TimJim 08-06-2009 10:12 PM

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uralic_languages

youre good dude

nice nice

Jaundice 08-06-2009 10:13 PM
