Seafroggys 05-11-2006 02:29 PM

that sounds like a typical high school band to me

its not that hard to win with that sort of sound ;)

Janeway 05-11-2006 02:37 PM

We're above average.
Especially considering that we've got one band who takes anyone and everyone who applies. That only leaves us with about 42 kids, anyways.
We do quite a bit with such limited players, and IMO, we give the big schools with exclusive bands a run for thier money.

Except for today.
Fwah.

If you guys play that song it is an insta win.

Janeway 05-11-2006 02:45 PM

Ha.
That was hanging on the wall in the warm up room we had.

milkmit 05-11-2006 02:53 PM

yay I finally figured out why my floor tom was so hard to tune.... the bottom rim was slightly bent, making the head a bit wrinkled.. I took it off and retuned from scratch (which I should have done long ago) and now it sounds gooooood!

in slightly crappier news, I still suck on the drums. :/

red n black 05-11-2006 03:02 PM

good for you :thumb:

Janeway 05-11-2006 03:03 PM

Eh.
You didn't notice the bent rim when you were attempting to tune before?

Aight. I've got to fill time up for my english teacher and write a story.
I'm thinking of like...a story about this chick who starts hanging around with skinheads just to fuck their girlfriends/sisters. It's very lame, but she likes when I write lame things.

Janeway 05-11-2006 04:57 PM

Janus has the word 'anus' in it. How could it be good?

We_Love_Lime 05-11-2006 05:16 PM

Hey Phil.

How do you set up your right footed Tambourine. Doesn't it get in the way of your bassdrum?

not fishbulb 05-11-2006 05:36 PM

Ahh, no time to MX, time for an essay!!

White 05-11-2006 06:30 PM

The Janus pedal I don't see how it works? is it like using your hihat poedal as the slave pedal?????? if so, would that just make the hi ahts raise and lower alot haha?

After two(+) months of kitless-ness I got my baby set up..Which is good, 'Cause I got about three weeks 'till I become my church's youth group's new drummer.

I got the songs down for the most part, But I just get so stiff up there, it's horrible. Any tips?

i was talking about the normal pedals and hat stand, not the transmission. the trans seems too wobbly...

for the transmission, you basically shift the pedal right, for the 2nd bass, and shift it left, for the hi hat.

Double Bass Jim 05-11-2006 08:42 PM

I like the part that says

"Release the penguins"

TTTSNB 05-11-2006 09:05 PM

God fucking damnit my school band sucks.

Every song I want to play, the bass player (who is basically in charge, the music teacher doesn't pay attention), has this other guy play, who has no chops, groove, or feel, and has the worst fucking drum setup I've ever seen, toms 60 degrees, angled towards each other, snare below the knees, floor tom angled ridiculously.

He has me play all the songs I don't want to play, and he has this kid, (also a very light hitter), play all the "heavier songs", like Wake Up by Rage Against the Machine, Around the World by the Chilli Peppers, etc. Also, any song that starts or ends a section.

poppinfresh 05-11-2006 09:11 PM

why dont you make it look like dont like a song that you like so that you dont get screwed over. Sometimes people do that to make someone sucky better.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the case here, the bassist isn't really a nice person, he wouldn't think of that.

Epiphender 05-11-2006 09:21 PM

They're doing laps!!!!!!!

GhostGrooveMike 05-11-2006 09:37 PM

I woke up this morning
Like any other day
You told me to leave
But I'm here to stay
You say I've done you wrong
But I've change you all for the better
You tell me to stop singing my song
But my song just got louder

I won't give into your antics
They're just the same old lies
You tell me I speak up because I have a sickness
And I say someone had to testify
Always looking for a reason why
Why I don't fit your expectations
When all I can do is try
All we can have in this world is patience

You try to sell my happiness
When I've already told you I have it.
As long as my point is expressed
I have no reason to omit
Everyday seems like a chor
And yet everyday you feel like reliving
You ask me what I got up for
And I told you to start living

I won't give into your antics
They're just the same old lies
You tell me I speak up because I have a sickness
And I say someone had to testify
Always looking for a reason why
Why I don't fit your expectations
When all I can do is try
All we can have in this world is patience

WHO LIKES MY SONNG?

TTTSNB 05-11-2006 10:16 PM
oh, maybe he has a small weiner. sucks.
Perhaps. He always brags about how he had a girlfriend for two years, implying that he had tons of sex and all that, when in reality, the whole time, it looked like he was her bitch/ puppy dog, they never did anything. Thats his only thing he really has against me.

ofDooM 05-11-2006 10:43 PM

i hate people like that. i despise....

rockindrummer 05-11-2006 10:58 PM

I hear ya TTTSNB, people like that are just plain stupid. The only way to go about it is to flat out ignore them.

Futuro 05-12-2006 12:02 AM

Nothin like drinking coke, eating chips. And staying up till 4am.

Double Bass Jim 05-12-2006 12:08 AM
