Hey man, last time I saw them they played a song that was like "don't shout, don't shout at the kids". Do you know what that song is called, because it's probably my favourite of theirs yet. Maybe I'll find out on Thursday night anyway.
I can't remember what it's called but I'm pretty sure it'll be on the album, and yeah it's one of their better songs. Oh yeah, and I'm probably going to that show on Thursday night.
The song itself did little for me (I apologise to Matt), though it was catchy. I still want the album though.

The actual full length comes out in early August, as far as I know. I'll hopefully pick it up when I see them open for the Minties.
As bread said the album doesn't come out until early August (the 11th to be exact), all I have at the moment is the single (I can send you that if you want?).

And I'll definitely be going to the Minties show. I can't wait for that one.

Oh, better post some diggage:

Something about that album doesn't 'click' with me as such either. It's a great album but I dunno, whether it's the beats or GZA's verses but for me it doesn't live up to the hype as one of the best of all time.

Apocalyptic Raids 07-31-2007 03:22 AM

I'm the same, Interstate. Cuban Linx on the other hand, I am obsessed with (even if it's too long).

Shit I just found that on my PC and i've apparently had it in my library for ages! I've never listened to it properly before so I'm giving this a spin right now. I've seen it top hip hop album lists so I'm expecting great things.

Apocalyptic Raids 07-31-2007 03:28 AM

It's really good, but the length lets it down. The first half of the album is ****ing superb. I think I prefer it to Liquid Swords purely because I'm a bigger fan of Raekwon and Ghostface's style over GZA's, and I like its mood more than LS's.

Sweet. I'll let you know what I think when I give it a spin. I've got Ready To Die on now but I'm playing Cuban Linx straight after.

mozartv 07-31-2007 06:52 AM

I've been wanting to get Liquid Swords b/c I've heard a lot of good things about it.

Liquid Swords took a bit to click with me, but now I do love it. Cuban Linx is great, but it gets a bit rusty nearing the end.

Thanks 07-31-2007 06:24 PM

I think After the Heat by Eno/Moebelius/Roedelius should be more well known. It's a great almost ambient Krautrock album, and a really good collaboration. Eno is very restrained, and his vocals actual add to the tunes in an Another Green World sort of way, rather than his earlier glam rock stuff. The two members of Cluster that accompany him are also at their melodic best. Really worth a listen if you're into this sort of thing.
