Imagine yourself being called a 'God.'

People were saying back then that God wasn't dead, he picked up a Les Paul and was playing the blues. They idolized Clapton.

One of my favourite stories of Clapton is when he went to see Hendrix played for the first time. When the show was over, no one was impressed by him. Everyone thought that Clapton was better than that 'show-off.' But on the way to his apartment, Clapton was on a taxi with his rommate and was floored. His rommate asked him what was wrong and Clapton answered that his career was over.
How could you not love clapton.

I saw him last year and I was absolutely on a high for the longest time it was ridiculous.

magicbus 03-26-2005 11:44 PM

Don't tell me I missed all the Clapton talk :upset:

ATM 03-26-2005 11:46 PM

I'd kill to go to the Cream reunion show in England.

Me too. Although I count myself lucky enough already to have seen Clapton live.

slowhand 03-26-2005 11:49 PM

Same here. I would do anything to go and see Cream.

Hopefully they'll figure out how much the world needs Cream and do a world tour, and yes, they will come to Puerto Rico.

Where did you see him?

Where and when?

Glitterati 03-26-2005 11:51 PM

Clapton once said that "Layla & Other Assorted Love Songs" was fueled by three things: Drugs, alcohol, and mad, undying love. You really can't go wrong with that, am I right?

magicbus 03-26-2005 11:51 PM

He came to Detroit last July, but the tickets were too much. Instead I saw Van Halen.

/regret

Damn you... I wish I could see him live... Specially him doing While My Guitar Gently Weeps, but I'm asking too much there.

I still say we should've asked if they'd allow us back stage. My friends say it was a stupid idea because they'd never let us, but i figured what's the worst that could happen.

slowhand 03-26-2005 11:59 PM

They say no.

You should've, man. Meeting Clapton? Meeting God in person? Why go to Heaven?

(I'm going to Hell for this, I know it.)

Why would clapton send you to hell for that? ;) just kidding.

I know I should've I mean I figure chances are they say no, but still, there's a chance they say yes and why the hell would you pass up what has the potential to be one of the defining moments of your entire life. I'm a dumbass,

RockAndRoll 03-27-2005 12:05 AM

Actually I figure if you were to get close enough down the line they wouldn't have a problem with letting you backstage, if you were for example talking to someone who is actually in fairly close contact with clapton. I figure the hard bit would be getting the regular workers at the acc to let you get that far.

slowhand 03-27-2005 12:06 AM

I will have to agree with you on this one.

Now you're gonna go you whole life lamenting over that moment. You'll probably say this story to your children, and then to your grandchildren.
Screw It I paid 110$ and It was worth more than every penny.
Yea I agree. But I bought the VH tickets before I even knew Clapton was coming .

Glitterati 03-27-2005 12:09 AM

Who else owns Clapton Unplugged? Is it just me, or is that one of the best "mellow" albums ever?

I know, After being reminded I feel terrible that I didn't try harder to get backstage. I'm going to meet him though, I've decided that now. I'm also going to figure out whether I would have made it backstage or not.

slowhand 03-27-2005 12:09 AM

Van Halen came to Puerto Rico. I didn't go.

jpj 03-27-2005 12:11 AM

Van Halen came here. I also didn't go, but my dad did and he said they were awesome.

RockAndRoll 03-27-2005 12:11 AM

I wish I knew a way to contact clapton.

We were talking about Robert Randolph the other day...I just found out I'm seeing him April 7th at Providence College (my bro's college) and he's with Talib Kweli. Next day is prom. That should be a good two days.

With clapton. !!!!! suckers!

Man I feel so badly now though. I'm going to bed and I'm going to find a way to prove to myself that it was completely impossible for me to make it backstage.
