NP: Octavarium
I want a Jordan Rudess Continuum. |

2) They are mostly a bunch of dorks who aren't funny when they're trying to be. 3) I would be pissed if I was Myung or LaBrie. It seems like every time they tried to start talking Portnoy would interrupt them and go off on another tangent. 4) Rudess is actually the most entertaining and interesting member to listen to, although musically he's my least favorite. (Leave the shredding to Petrucci and write some decent music for gods-sake. [Oh well, at least he got "Disappear" right.])
My response: 2)Shut up. Myung is the coolest man alive. No question. 3)I don't think I've ever heard Myung ever try and speak, the only time he does, it's because someone asks him a question, and even then he gives a witty answer like "What you playing there John?", "Bass". 4)Shut up. |

<<UT :D:D:D
GRRRRR... ah well I'm seeing them tommorow standing. I shall be right at the front and will be blinded by JR's bald head. |
His beard too... See if you can contain the laughter when he first walks out.
And have fun tomorrow. |

Also, I was mainly talking about LaBrie. There were a few times when he started speaking and was interrupted by Portnoy, although that happened I think once or twice with Myung as well. Also, I don't remember that quote. 4) Shut up? That's all you've got? Dream Theater's my favorite band, but at least I'm not a fanboy who can't accept criticism of them. It's the truth, Rudess may make impressive music, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's GOOD. I've learned that I much prefer Kevin Moore's style. He could shred too, but at least he kept it tasteful and not on every song. Instead, he focused on writing good music. |
Well I'm home and hungover from the gig last night and it was pretty great. They played a wide setlist with stuff from every album (and even some pre-WDADU track that I haven't heard before. Unfortunately, the night was kind of ruined because me and my friends waited outside in the rain for almost an hour in the rain wearing only a t-shirt and a kilt and the band just drove by without even waving :( (Although my friend did wheek up his kilt and flash them )
|
Maybe Myung's just shy, he doesn't talk much or move about much on stage.
|
Oh most definitely. I think he's shy and just doesn't have a problem being the guy in the background playing bass, which a lot of bass players get stereotyped for.
|
Has anyone actually seen Myung express any emotion?
|
He crash tackled James LaBrie. :D
He's so pro. |
He crash tackled James LaBrie. :D
He's so pro.
For money, he knows some dodgy dealers. |
He crash tackled James LaBrie. :D
He's so pro.
that rocked :D I would love to go to a bar and have a convo with Myung, I think it would be interesting to say the least :) |
Myung Pwns, screw you Bwnstl.
Next tour, next tour... Oh BTW, why go and see a band wearing a kilt? that's just silly. |

I still think they should have kept Derek in the band. I was listening to ACoS the other day and really loving what he did with the keys throughout the whole band. The thing I don't like about Rudess is that he is capable of playing great music, as seen from his solo CD's but when he goes into DT, he just puts it in full on shred mode which doesn't always work. |
I am on the phone to my bro listneing to DT play right NOW. They are playing The Mirror now and have just finished playing the Root of All Evil. Sounds awsome....ooohhhhh...they've just started to play Lie now.

Moore wrote the keyboards to ACOS before he left. |
Moore wrote the keyboards to ACOS before he left.
Sherinian did add some parts to it, the solos are all his, but the rest is KevMo's if I recall correctly. |

Thats cool. Do you plan on listening to the whole concert like that? If you do, that will be one expensive phone call. |
Thats cool.

Glad you had a good time, although that sucks about waiting. Mind posting what their set list was? |
Myung Pwns, screw you Bwnstl.
Next tour, next tour... Oh BTW, why go and see a band wearing a kilt? that's just silly.
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU ALL. I NEVER SAID MYUNG SUCKED OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. He's my favorite bassist and member of DT, so everyone shut the hell up. |

Yeah guys, seriously, get off his back. He never insulted Myung, I actually thought he was giving him a plug (saying he should be talking instead of Portney.) |

EXACTLY. Thank you. |
I don't know about Myung. He's a great technical player indeed... but I don't know. SOmething bugs me.
Maybe it's his long hair and slinted eyes. |
I'm going to listen to all of ToT now
|
Thats cool.
Do you plan on listening to the whole concert like that? If you do, that will be one expensive phone call.
I was on the phone for about 20 minutes listening to the first three songs. And I've been ringing him throughout the night to see what they're are playing. I heard the start of These Walls and it sounded awsome. I also heard some of JR's keyboard solo. Heard a bit of The Killing Hand aswell. Just wanted to know what I'd be in for tommorow night at Wolverhampton:naughty: . |

coming to the end of this dying soul, it reminds me why I love this album so much... |
1) Mike Portnoy should never be allowed to direct again. For some reason he thinks all those retarded effects are cool.
See the Budokan DVD. He very much knows how to direct now, if he didn't then. The direction of that concert is fantastic. |

That was 'Another Won'. The first song they ever wrote together. Originally it was an instrumental. But on the Majesty Demos, they recorded it with vocals. Which aren't the same as they are now for some reason.
I agree with you about the KevMo Rudess thing. I still think they should have kept Derek in the band. Falling into Infinity= Wank. P.S I got Portnoy's water bottle. :) |
That's what they said, that the tour's their 20th anniversary/octavarium tour. |
