I can't learn lyrics at all, I'm awful at it. Writing them must have taken a while though.

relliK 08-05-2005 07:11 PM

No kidding.I sat infront of my computer for 45 minutes rewinding the song in parts that sounded unclear.

Deth 08-05-2005 07:15 PM

Hehehe, I'm holding out for the official release, you know with the lyrics already there and everything.

RouteOne 08-05-2005 07:20 PM
Into the trees
Past meadow grounds
And further away
From my home

Baying behind me
I hear the hounds
Flocks chasing to find
Me out

A trail of sickness
Leading to me
If I am haunted
Then you will see

Searching the darkness
And emptiness
I'm hiding away
From the sun

Will never ends
Never be at ease
All my matters expire
So I run

A trail of sickness
Leading to me
If I am haunted
Then you will see

There drops another
That derives to ease the pain
In the same regret that there was(?)
Instrument of death before me

Looks of the safe hohfdpoefhf(?)
As you parish and survive
In the face of demons
As death becomes a gift

Your are the laughing stock
of the absent minded
Confessions stuck in your mouth
Now your demons live there

Nocturnally helpless, weaken the lights
Depending on a prayer
Pacing desserted roads to find
A seed of hope

They are, the trees
Rotten hope inside(?)
Never well
Roots are sunk in
Even from my source

Time bounds
The future for the lights

Mist of false pretention, Harlequin Forest
Awaiting redemption for a lifetime
As they die alone with no one by their side
As they forget

Dark and troubled nature
Voice of inner soul
A frigged beast inside(not sure if frigged is even a word)
Drain my flaming suffering, controlled(?)

Now the woods are burning
Herein life cuts us under(?)
Useless blacked remains
Still by a smoldering *insert unknown word here*

That's my interpetation so far.The previous lyrics helped me out a great dead.Good job with those.Perhaps someone could take all of ours and figure it out to perfection.
Haha, those lyrics remind me of Sonata arctica's video "Wolf and raven".

lmao I did the same thing

Kaiwaz 08-06-2005 11:05 AM
Mikeal's lyrics are one thing that makes Opeth so different from a lot of ''DEATH''metal bands ;)

Mikeal should write a poetry book :)
He did. There are 8 of them :D

haha, you are right! :p

but you know what I mean.
a complete book about the concepts used on albums would be cool too,
I mean I love Still Life to death, but a 200 pages book telling the storie would rule even more ;)

Or a movie with nothing but music :D No talking and the music never stops for 2 hours. That would be original as hell :D

August 30th.

I'm really curious about the deadwing movie by Porcupine Tree.

I've never heard of that-how long is it?

I'd like to see a movie to Deliverance/D@mnation...that would kick so much arse!

Dannyboy15 08-06-2005 01:23 PM

Opeth write a movie? Hmm I actually might enjoy that. It would have to be better than Cradle of Fear.

Kaiwaz 08-06-2005 01:32 PM

What album would you consider?

I'd like to see Still Life too though...that would be amazing! Mikael should start directing something like that - since they are innovative, and doing something like that would definately be new to the metal industry. A two hour movie with nothing but music...think about that. :D

But they would have to put To Bid You Farewell in there somewhere :thumb:

Dannyboy15 08-06-2005 01:39 PM

Still life is tied with blackwater park as my favorite opeth album. I think they could mix it up a bit. Take certain songs from each album to dress up a sceen.

Kaiwaz 08-06-2005 01:40 PM

That would be legendary. But the movie would have to end with the song ''Blackwater Park'' as the sun sets into darkness, leaving nothing left but ashes. :thumb:

But then TBYF could not be included. How in the hell are you going to fit that in the middle of the "movie"? It's definetly an ender, not filler.

But today I never noticed how awsome the acoustic outro to BWP is. It's sooo nice to sing to... even though they don't.

Aww now I'm all excited to see a movie that doesn't nor ever will exist :upset:

My thoughts exactly. :D

Also in the intro to ''Hours Of Wealth'', that's a good one to sing to.

They could start playing Blackwater Park, but when it gets the acoustic part, cut it out and stick TBYF in their, then after wards have it pick up where the heavy part to Blackwater Park comes back in. That would be sweet.

Kaiwaz 08-06-2005 03:22 PM

yeah that would be tight...

If any song from MAYH exist in it, it has to be the entire album (In Order), since it's all one story. And the story from that would generally be the basic plot to the movie itself.

the2stranger 08-06-2005 03:25 PM

we should send a mail to opeth suggesting this ;)

oh and Flynn, the Potcupine Tree movie isn't in excistence yet, but the cd, is a base for a movie to be shot somehwere in the future, (the lyrics of the cd form the plot)

Kaiwaz 08-06-2005 03:28 PM

I wouldn't want the movie to end with To Bid You Farewell though, It would be too depressing to end it like that, that song should be somewhere in the middle as a rise climax to a certain direction in the film. I still like the idea of BWP ending it...god I have goosebumps already and it doesn't even exist.

Dannyboy15 08-06-2005 03:32 PM

Benighted needs to be in the movie too!

Hells Bells 08-06-2005 03:34 PM

That's the one I was thinking would make the best story...well I don't know whether any of the other albums follow a storyline as well as MAYH.
But then TBYF could not be included. How in the hell are you going to fit that in the middle of the "movie"? It's definetly an ender, not filler.
Actually, with if you were using the MAYH story, the movie could open with TBYF. From what I remember it's about a guy who dies and is unable to leave because he still loves the woman he left behind.

Kaiwaz 08-06-2005 03:35 PM

Guys ~ we're on to something. Everyone e-mail Opeth.

Hells Bells 08-06-2005 03:56 PM

Yes, do that. Man I'm excited about it already. I'd say I wanna make it myself, but then there's the lack of resources and the fact that it should be left to the guys who came up with the concept in the first place ;)

Kaiwaz 08-06-2005 03:58 PM

Yeah - true.

But it would be fun to try something like that. Make a 2 hour movie based on 2 albums or so...excellent!

Same here. They can take the best ones like The Moor, Leper Affinity, Moonlapse Vertigo, The Drapery Falls, etc. I would buy that in a heartbeat.

Det_Nosnip 08-06-2005 06:17 PM

GOD....HEAD'S....LAMENT!! :p

Sorry, I'm obsessed with that song. I did a once-a-week radio show at my school last year, and I somehow ended up playing it almost every week.

Kaiwaz 08-06-2005 06:20 PM

I'd really like to see a movie to ''Morningrise'' the most though...I can't immagine some of the things the Band could come up with during Black Rose Immortal. Godd@mnit, now I'm excited!

If I did that in my school, 3/4 th's of the school would run out screaming and the rest which calim to be "Gothic" or "Metalheads" would stare and ask who this was. There's only about 3 people who actually know about Opeth in the whole school.

This is a good time for me to make this post. My friend's cousin (who's one of those kids that has like 678 HIM shirts and loves Cradle of Filth and such) just IMed me abotu something and I was listening to 'The Grand Conjuration' so I was randomly like 'Opeth is awesome.' I didn't think he would know who they were but he did. And then he started telling me how his friend's band is super great and made a song that 'sounds like just Windowpane' and when I expressed doubt that they were as good as Opeth he said they were 'not as good but really F-in' close.' I asked him if they have a Soundclick or Myspace and he said 'Hold up.' So this thread should be getting really funny in a couple minutes.

Edit: Here's the song. It's not laughably horrible like I'd been hoping but here it is anyway for your listening pleasure:

Edit: This isn't the song that's supposed to sound like Windowpane, obviously.

haha I wish there was a radio show that played that kind of music at my school. At first I though that's something I could consider starting up...but then again, I have 30-40 hours of class this year :upset:

I was hoping for an atrociously bad one with everyone playing out of time and all that.

As it is, it's just a boring song. Not funny material like I hoped :(

Hello, my band is doing a cover of the Drapery Falls, and we need someone who can do the clean vocals, because all of our clean vocals blow. Anyone interested? My sn on AIM is detazathoth if you want to do the clean parts.

Audio Arena or Classifieds if you want this to happen. I also recommend taking your AIM off, the wrong people could see it.

Anyway....I heard 'Blackwater Park' (the album) last night and I'm hooked. What album should I listen to next?
